Just got back from a weekend trip, nice to see everything that's been going on here. Also nice to be seeing some Strawberry Jam entries flowing in.
Well, to be fair, the damage to my computer was to my processor, not my drive. Meaning my issue was a bit more crippling, assuming your Hard drive was the only thing affected. Still lucky that all your minecraft stuff survived. We should start a support group for maps that have been through technological trauma. XD
*raises hand*
Might I join that support group? My maps have been destroyed by either, 1. A game-crippling bug, such as the Anvil light bug BEFORE I myself knew how to fix it, and 2. A crippling MCEdit command that destroyed the map and all content. Plus the one I'm working on right now has gone through an Administrator Profile Corruption.
I've encountered this several times now, and I'm stumped as to what I should do...
I have stone walls, and a grass floor. Whats a good block variation for the stone wall? Should I just go for the cobblestone, gravel, stone combo? Or something else?
Clay works very well IMO. Also using patches of glowstone, coal, and other minerals work well. Of course, you can always be boring and stick with the usual.

Hey everyone! My new map - Cloud Caverns - is now avaible for testing! Check it out!
Here's a pic.
I implemented some gameplay features like you can't fall off the map, and you respawn where you died with resistance and weakness for 10 sec.

As I'm now sick of using filters for everything, and realizing I probably should have learned it earlier, I've decided to learn NBT. Where's a good place to start? I know a lot of programming, but I have no idea what NBT would be similar to. Any tips from people who clearly do know it?

It's easy, it's not like coding, all you need is the wiki.

NBTEdit is almost (I repeat ALMOST) as easy as HTML (For me anyway :P)
Its not as much code than turning things from true to false and learning a few commands. There are plenty of tutorials online and on youtube, and it requires absolutely no skill in programming.
Its actually really easy once you get the hang of things.
Thanks for everybody pointing out what to look at for NBT stuffs! (I'm too lazy to quote, as there were a few responses.)
Since I just updated to 1.6, I can't use any mods, so I'll see what I can pick up from the wiki and stuff.
Now that 1.6 is officially out, USE THE DYED CLAY ON EVERYTHING!
I could pretty much see dyed clay becoming the standard base block for lots of maps now <3

One thing to look out for though is that stained clay blocks look very bland on their own, so they always need to be mixed with another block, stained clay or not. A stellar example of this would be the screenshot of Kopasz7's Cloud Cavern map, a page back. If it had only one type of clay block it would have looked a lot less good.
Yeah, I had that in mind. Cloud Cavern is beautiful, a perfect example of using dyed clay.

I love the use of colored clay <3
My mini-CTM map! It's a fun map, so play it!

I recommend this over nbtedit:

Christmas in july...
@nbt if you know how to code nbt edit should be a breeze. It's just a bunch of true false values in a file essentially.
Hey! I like, run this... or something:
Dang it! Me wanted to do the page gets... I sad nowz :3
Oh well \o/

Working on this with you was a lot of fun!
