So i've improved this area based on all those suggestions that no one sent me. Hopefully its better now
The area still needs a little work, but its really close to being finished now!
Looks nice, but the ceiling seems a bit... blah. Try adding some mushroom blocks up there! (Oh, and it needs more lava. You can never have enough lava.)

Probably will do the mushroomy thing, how about no on the lava
I'd suggest replacing the sideways pillars on the second and third levels with full-smooth stone halfslabs (43:8/9 I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong). Then replace the row of chiseled quartz in the very front with them too. Beyond that, just mess around with different places they could be used. It was a good hour of messing around that got my Monument design to where it is now.
Thanks, im going to post a picture of how it looks afterward Thanks!
Someone mentioned a few pages back, that noone had used the idea of merging a monument or an intersection with a river in a clever way... well, neither did I, but it gave me some inspiration, so thanks for that! =D
The general area (you can see the monument cave in the left wall)
The monument room itself
Didn't turn out too gross I think, but there's always room for improvement :3

EDIT: Okay, can someone who uses a Mac for Minecraft answer a few things for me? For one, does the Mac use different file types for the .minecraft folder than the PC? Also, what mapmaking tools currently have Mac alternatives (MCedit, WE, SPC, etc.)? Or do you need to use alternatives at all? Just want to weigh my options if I decide to take a plunge and use our family computer for any infrequent mapmaking I decide to do.
I used mcedit/spc/WE/BC on my mac air for nearly half of TGP so they are all compatible

What? You don't like people from the north?
In a frozen wasteland. Protecting ourselves in our igloos from polar bears and flying hockey pucks.
