I noticed the "not pretty" biome edges too. There is a little corner missing in the jungle, as well as the sections missing from mushroom and taiga. I used BiomePainter and fixed mine.

Seems like an easy solution, thanks!
Looks to me that the center biome's diameter is one block shorter than the other four. Unless there's a good reason for that, maybe the next release should cut down the other four by a bit (since a diameter of a odd number better fits with the deisgn of the island, having one center block).
A word of warning to anyone who plans to play this map under 1.8 - this map just became a LOT harder. Not only has villager breeding changed (you have to trade with every villager every time you want them to breed), but iron and gold farming have been seriously nerfed, with the latest snapshot, iron golems will not drop iron unless you actively kill them. No more automated kill chambers or safely killing them with sand or pistons. Likewise, zombie pigmen will not drop gold unless you kill them yourself (both iron and gold nugget drops are now rare just like weapons and armor are for zombies and skeletons. Of course, none of this is set in stone yet, but unless there is a serious backlash on any of this, it is the shape of things to come. To see how this all works, check out some of the videos by docm77 on YouTube,

Well this map was designed to be played using 1.7, and I won't be held responsible for any problems encountered in the map for those that try to play it in the 1.8 snapshots...so I'll say this:
For full enjoyment of the map, please use MC version 1.7 when playing this map. I may make adjustments to this map for 1.8 but not until an official release is made, as things in snapshots are not set in stone and may change over time!

So I finally broke down and DLed the comp version of Minecraft, this is the first map I started up on it. WOW, just WOW. After having to restart 3 times, twice for not getting any saplings from the initial trees, and once for being an idiot. I have got it going now, all biomes marked out and being carefully cultivated. Will start getting some pics going and such. But thanks for the update, this is a blast.

Well I'm glad that you are enjoying yourself. I'll be thinking of ways to improve the map an keep it as fun and exciting as the original one was, as well as include any new features that Mojang adds to Minecraft...as for 1.8, I might add some more lapis ore since it'll be needed for enchanting. For the other new stuff like the new types of stone and slime blocks, those shouldn't be an issue and should already be obtainable with the current version of Oceanblock.

The older thread appears abandoned, so I wanted to share my final let's play video for my Oceanblock (4.0) series, in which I kill the Ender Dragon:
I wanted to thank 5thHorseman for this map, and to thank him and everyone else for being active in the forum threads. The ability to share progress and discuss strategy is a big part of what made this map enjoyable.
Anyone got any updates on their OceanBlock 5.0 maps?
damn Mega, looks awesome. I actually used your Villager Spawn with slight mod for my set up. Was the first one I found that used no cobble.
the only thing I did was use gates around where I trapped the villagers instead of dropping another post. It seems they can't open fence gates.
<edit> Also, How do I post pics, I want to get some up for everyone to see.
Thanks, glad it came in handy.
Yes, I've used fence gates on some of my latter versions as well.
To post pics, you'll have to upload your screenshots to another website, like imgur.com or tinypic.com, then in a post here you can use the IMG tag around the URL to the pic. Hope that makes sense.
Hey there guys, Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is enjoying my 5.0 version of Oceanblock...Might check to see about the "not pretty" biome edges you guys were talking about and see what I can do about it. And welcome to the thread Mega, so do you have any plans to try out my version?

Wow! OceanBlock survives! Nicely done, Slytherite, keeping the fires burning. I'll admit I totally dropped through a hole in the Bedrock for quite some time. I haven't played MC in about 3 months and haven't been to the forums for probably 6 or more so I didn't even know this was going on. Good to see all the names still here.
Megatrain, the last thing I did in Minecraft was set up a MegaVillage for a MP server I was on, so they could trade anything for anything I'll have to watch your The End video.

Thank you very much 5th...this is actually the very first time ever making something like this and sharing it on the forums...and I'll be honest, I haven't even been playing my own map in a long time...I've been busy with RL and other games and when I do get on MC its either playing on a server, or playing Sky Factory, a really fun version of modded Skyblock....If you think Skyblock, Oceanblock, or even Pancake Survival...this one will drive you bonkers...(Hint: you start out on top of a tree sitting on a single block of dirt! and the only thing in your inventory is a few instruction books and a single torch. No water, no stone, just you, a tree, a block of dirt and an endless void to keep you company!)
Hey, Slytherite, some technical questions about your spawn room (I'm working on my own map now...):
I totally see why it is necessary now, the "world spawn point" even keeps passive mobs (cows, sheep, etc) from spawning within 24 blocks, this kind of messed everything up.
So, I need a 20x20 pad around the spawn point, since players can spawn anywhere in that space? (This prevents the Skyblock "falling forever" bug).
I do like your design, although if you had simply built it out of bedrock, that would prevent any mob spawning.
I got another devious idea, though: build the spawning platform out of silverfish stone blocks: completely unusable!

Yes something like that, although I did build it like that just to make it look good and attractive to look at if someone were to make an LP series on the map, but using Silverfish blocks is a really nice idea, I tried putting a roof on the spawning room, but in my testing of spawning into the world, I'd end up spawning on the roof, but if you wanted to, you could put a glass roof, and like under the spawning platform, you could use a command block setup using the testfor block command for if someone tries break the glass roof, the command block would just replace it. So you can't get back into the spawn room, even if you tried. This plan seems to create less lag then having a command block setup to remove the entire spawn room upon exit.
Making that spawn room is actually quite common in other custom maps, as it does fix both the player spawning problem, and the mob spawning problem. I've also went into the nether and fixed the zombie pigman spawning problem.

Right now I have just a basic bedrock platform, not sure if I'll do more with it or just leave it the way it is.
I don't think it makes sense to remove the platform after it being used once, though. What if a creeper kills them and breaks their bed at the same time? They'll need to spawn safely back on the platform.
I did find a cool trick, though. I originally used a basic TP command to get to my island, but if they build something on that spot and need to use the platform later, they could get teleported into solid blocks and suffocate. So someone on the redstone forum mentioned the /spreadplayers command, which can be used for only a single player:
/spreadplayers x z 0 2 false @p
This warps just the closest player to within 2 blocks of the the indicated X and Y coordinates, but normal spawning logic applies, and it will find the highest existing block to stand on. Tested it and it works well.
This is probably a lot more important for my map (a skyblock clone) than for Oceanblock, though.
Hey, thought you guys might be interested in my update on the classic Skyblock map, it was highly influenced by the challenges and the cool stuff we did here with Oceanblock.
It is called The End of Skyblock (Skyblock + The End, get it?). It tries to keep as much of the play style of Skyblock intact, while including updates like an End Portal, potions, villager trading, etc.
Hm, I might check it out later, but right i'm playing a different alteration to Skyblock known as Sky Factory created by Bacon_Donut...Its an amazing modded skyblock, but as the description says, callling it modded skyblock is like calling the Batmobile a "car"
