If there's only 3 diamonds in the whole map, how are we able to finish the mismatch suit challenge?
On a side note, if there's no iron in the starting chest, how would one be able to enter the nether?
Note:I have just started a few minutes ago on the map with my friend, so we're still completely new, don't mind me if I asked a complete noob question, or it could be me just not done exploring the map yet...

You don't need to explore (in the overworld) more, but you DO need to be pretty knowledgeable about Minecraft (or willing to learn! ) to beat this map. I'll give you a few hints, but feel free to ask if you'd like more or just to be flat out told Also, you should look things up in the Minecraft Wiki, it's a fantastic resource.
There are more ways to get armor than to craft it. You will never be able to craft diamond armor (and hopefully you didn't use that diamond to make a pick!) and there is no gold or iron ore in the map. However, if you do things right you'll have more iron ingots than you can ever want and with some work you can also get a decent amount of gold nuggets.
You don't need flint and steel to enter the nether, either. ANY fire that starts inside the portal frame will light the portal, but you can't have any blocks in the frame as well. Click below if you want more, but this one is tricky so I'll just say it here:
Put the portal near your lava, and then make wood structures on either side (front and back) of it so that one of the wooden structures will light fire. With even a little luck, the fire will jump through the portal, lighting it. You may have to do it 2 or 3 times but it will light eventually)

This is kinda important, so I'm going to mention this. This should be considered standard minecraft knowledge.
Villagers will trade you stuff.
But they won't trade you everything.
They will trade you diamond tools and armor.
They won't trade you an enchanting table or a jukebox.
There are only a few things that you cannot get from a village.
Knowing what you can and can not is important.
---
If you don't have an enchanting table, then villagers will give you some enchantments, but not nearly as many as you want.
For example, I think you can only get level 1-5 enchantments -- which includes silk touch only on gold tools.
Do note what the one starting villager gives in a trade.
Remember, you can turn zombie villagers into normal villagers with supplies from the nether.
Be sure to make a safe house for the night. Before the night begins :-). And, if you are having issues with the villagers going through the floor, make a second layer of wood over the dirt.
Yes, you can make a wood floor, with the lava, safely. Fire only spreads if there is an air block in range that is next to a flammable block. Wood can make a lot of non-flammable blocks, such as chests, or ladders.
And, while you cannot use light to keep mobs from spawning, at least at first, half-slabs can be used. Yes, you can make a mob spawn system before going to the nether.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
Run 6 (runs 1, 2 and 3 all ended in disaster - mostly creeper related - run 4 the villager glitched through the floor, run 5 was OK with villager on a half slab above the dirt but not real happy with the run) going now. Once you get a good start, this one isn't too bad, but getting that start is problematic. I used Detfig's holding cell/house with the fences and gates at block two. I've got a bed, got to the nether so I have cobble, torches and stone tools. Ive got a really big tree farm going with 9 of each tree growing, plus five more jungle saplings in the chest. (Tip - when cooking charcoal, I like to do 32 wood at a time with 64 saplings - when you are growing trees on this scale, the saplings are abundant and two saplings will cook one item.) I haven't gotten up higher in the nether yet, but right now I have enough wood to build my mob farm. It will be slow at first without water, but I'll make do with signs for now. Interestingly, using a the same design in Oceanblock, I'm getting a bunch of different records - the skeletons must be shooting the creepers at my kill chamber while I am collecting drops. This was certainly a pleasant surprise, and I hope it is repeated here.
One idea I had that I thought I'd share - I am slowly replacing the dirt with cobblestone in the biomes. Then, I'll put dirt down on top of the cobble to make a second layer. Won't completely stop creeper blasts, but it will allow me to make ponds and such in the biomes. Likewise, my farm area has a layer of cobble replacing the dirt, then I'm building village style farms up one layer so I can put in water when I get a bucket.
The only setback so far on this map is when I went into the nether for more cobble and discovered a skeleton in there - the knockback from his shot knocked me into the lava and I died before I could get out, thus losing about a half stack of dirt. Everthing else I lost was replaceable, but that dirt...
I don't think they glitch vertically through solid blocks, though who knows. I never found out what happened to my snow golems but it's possible that they fell through the slabs, and I had some skeletons glitching up and down inside the solid blocks but I never saw any fall through completely.
The good(ish) news is, with enough other villagers and an enchantment table, you'll *eventually* get a silk touch shovel again. Eventually. Or you could look up the mcedit shops filter and make your own replacement if you're so inclined.
I had my villager somehow glitch sideways through a solid block and get zombified. I had to restart. The next time I made sure to put a fence around the villager "house" (read: protection structure) as well so no zombies could get close.

You can light a portal much more easily than that.
Have the lava at the same level as the bottom of the end portal. Ie., Dig out the dirt to put in the 2 bottom obsidian. Then cover the lava and the block next to it with wooden planks. Occasionally, the blocks burn without lighting the portal but not very often. It's generally quick, easy, and resource friendly although lots of wood shouldn't be a problem. I did have a problem where I went to put a half-slab above the lava and it accidentally got placed in the lava, thus deleting the lava. My portal was already lit so it wasn't a big issue. I did like your idea of putting the portal one block further away from the lava so as to not accidentally step in the lava when coming back from the Nether. Protecting myself from that was the reason I accidentally destroyed the lava.
Wow - if the latest snapshot stands as is, it will make this map a LOT harder! We'll have to kill nine times more zombie pigmen to get our second villager!
(FINAL) Part 17...
Forgot to start recording until I already finished going to The End and taking out all the regenerating crystals. Video starts at the beginning of my battle with the dragon.

One thing I've learned about snapshots is, don't expect anything in them to be in the final product. If 1.6 makes any of the tasks insanely more difficult, I'll modify the map.
That said, I didn't find killing 8 zombie pigmen so hard that I wouldn't mind killing 64 more, especially as a one-time investment.
I'm more interested in how the changes in hunger may affect Oceanblock.
Lookin' good, detfig! But I'm pretty sure you aren't getting mooshrooms on your platform because they need grass to spawn rather than mycelium. Also, I think I read somewhere that there is a spawn limit of 16 animals total. So if you add together all your cows, chickens, sheep, pigs, wolves and ocelots and the total is 16 or higher, the mooshrooms won't spawn at all. Best to cull back to two each of the animals and then breed them after you get everything spawned in. And, just to be on the safe side, I'd convert at least half your mooshroom platform to grass - that way you've got al bases covered.

Hey back atcha!
Do those numbers hold if I move the animals out of range? I guess I could slaughter most of them, those sheep noises do drive me batty...*heads to the sheep pen with the axe*
I did read a comment here about the whole grass/mycelium issue and ended up changing it further down the road, but I only got a few cats to spawn at the boarder between the two biomes, never did get a cow, but I will try cutting *pun intended* down on the other animals --did I mention I had a lot of birds now, too--and see what happens.

@5thHorseman, I assume by the wording of the rules ("Do not kill yourself in ANY way for ANY purpose.") that jumping through a hole in order to stick a block on the underside of the world is cheating?
Btw, great map, one of my favorites for limited resource survival. The single layer of dirt concept is a unique challenge, it's precarious like skyblock but with a false sense of security, and makes creepers much more deadly.

That was actually the specific trick I was thinking of when I decided to not list things and just say "ANY way for ANY purpose," so yes You'll have to wait until you get water buckets or pistons before you can explore downward.

I agree. It seems easier until you realize that there's an infinite plane for bad guys to spawn.
Sorry about the quality, I'll try to fix it in the next episode.
and 15. It's mostly a tour of another map with builds I would like to do on Pancake, but as yet have not done.

You can light a portal much more easily than that.
First, here's my first shelter - thanks Detfig for the design!
Next, my Nether Portal. I had to fence it in and light it up to keep the skeletons and other mobs out (learned that the hard way!):
Here's my garden - can't wait to get a bucket so I can actually fill the troughs with water and hydrate the soil:
Next is my mob farm. No water, but interestingly it doesn't really seem to need it - I'm getting LOTS of mobs and drops (already got a carrot):
Finally, a look down from the mob farm. I really don't have to worry much about wood now!
Next task is to go back to the nether and work on getting blaze rods!
