I've been loving the map and the twitch stream has been great - I've gotten a bunch of questions about the map each night so I direct them here! Hopefully we'll see even more people posting about it soon!! If I think of some more questions or w/e I'll drop them in later tonight xD
Thank you! I've seen a pretty decent uptick in downloads in the past week, maybe 30% more per day. I don't know how much is due to you but I really do appreciate you directing people here
And I should say, I still can't believe just how many people want to play this map and record what they do. And I also can't believe that others want to WATCH people play my map. I don't think this map would be nearly as popular as it is now, if it wasn't for all of you who post videos showing just how much fun you're having.
3 signs costs 6 planks and 1 stick, or 6.5 planks, a cost of 2.167 planks per sign.
2 fences cost 6 sticks, or 3 planks, a cost of 1.5 planks per fence.
6 slabs cost 3 planks, a cost of only 0.5 planks per slab.
One bonus fences (and signs, but they ARE too expensive) is that you can place them from below, and never let any water into your room. This gives you a full 3-high area underwater. Eventually, you can place down planks on the floor and have an already-made slime spawning area (assuming you hit a slime chunk. This worked great in OceanBlock 3.0 where I picked an area with 4 slime chunks. I am kinda wishing I'd done that in 4.0)
And, they look cool when you look down into the water from your base on the surface After you get your tree farms, the problem isn't having enough wood, but keeping up with the tree growth. And so IMHO it's worth the extra plank per block.
I just learned, via the wiki, that no mobs (slimes included) can spawn directly on bedrock!
(this also explains why my vast cavern has no hostile mobs spawning...)
So if you want to create a slime spawning area, you will need to place a layer of blocks down (maybe sand?) on the bedrock. This also makes your cavern vulnerable to hostile mob spawning, so don't neglect to light it up if you haven't already! (Maybe jack-o-lanterns in the floor?)
if you watch one of my later episodes, you can see what I did to the floor of that room (which is a 16x16 slime chunk) and on the topic of slime spawning...I can't remember which patch, but one of them reduced the spawn rate of slimes in superflat worlds, so normally slimes spawn at a 1/10 rate of normal mobs, its even less on superflat worlds...so that might be one of the reasons trying to get a slime to spawn in the little swamp biome would be extremely rough...as when the block update tick decides to spawn a mob, it'll try to spawn a normal mob 90+% of the time, so you have to be REALLY lucky to get a slime to appear in the swamp.

So to all of you, a huge THANK YOU!
You're very welcome, and I plan to continue making more videos, I've been doing stuff off camera to get rid of the boring stuff like inventory manage to mindless tree chopping...and I ran out of torches and I've been doing nothing but running around my island aimlessly waiting on stuff to grow and sheep to regrow wool so I can get enough emeralds for Diamond Pick (I'm trying for EVERY challenge) not really something entertaining to watch, but i'm getting close enough to make an entertaining episode, got some funny stories to talk about and a few new faces to meet...

Ok, I tried fences, and it took a little doing to find the right spot to place it from below, but I think I'm convinced. That's pretty convenient.
Here is a spanish gameplay of your map. Is a small channel in youtube but me and my friend just created a few days ago the account. We will make more. .

We are the MCModSquad! We make minecraft mods, we do tutorials, survivals, let's builds, let's plays, minigames, animations, what don't we do in minecraft?
Creating a infinite water source no longer needs a block underneath, but has to have a water source block.
This means you won't ruin rivers/oceans with Buckets
YAY!
I totally agree! That is so totally awesome!!!!!!!!! And it would be so wonderful for this map, though the villager drowning trap I made (to get rid of villagers that have bad trades "aka useless") well I got rid of it and made something else...you'll see it in episode 7, I'll record that either tomorrow or Saturday.

Well, while recording episode 6, I noticed the endermen doing their open mouth shaking animation, that freaked me out a little, (though you can't tell watching the episode) and I wondered how I aggroed him, as I never looked at him to cause the aggro...but then i noticed that he just wondered around like normal (no aggro) so I figured it was a glitch from 1.4.7 which I really really hope that Mojang would fix...as that is very un-nerving for a survival map such as this as an unexpected endermen attack would kill me in 2 hits...(I play on hard mode...the best and "only" way to survive in Minecraft IMO...unless a map tells me differently. Heck though I die alot, I even do in Vechs' Super Hostile Maps, though all the new stuff being added sends chills up my spine thinking on how Vechs will incorporate them in his maps...)

Even though I recently started to play again, I've decided to restart once more, as I just now downloaded Fraps. I'll need to get a Youtube channel up, so hopefully soon I can post my own episodes up here!
Another question...I haven't really delved too far into villager trading...when I mined the diamonds...I made a pick and sword...then realized that I needed an enchantment table? am I screwed? or will i have to get diamonds out of the emergency cache?
EDIT: Now that i think about it, you can get more then 5 diamonds in oceanblock without touching the emergency cache, or even bothering the villagers. the trick is to mine 2 of the 5 diamonds. Make an enchantment table. Then enchant an Iron Pickaxe with fortune! then you can get more diamonds out of the remaining 3 diamond ore!
I know this is an old comment, but I just had to mention that this isn't possible to do, at least the way you describe it.
An enchantment table requires 2 diamond and 4 obsidian (plus a book). Even if you mined the two diamond, how can you get the 4 obsidian without a diamond pick? (And even if you did, you've just killed your ability to build your nether portal.)
I got all excited today when I spawned a villager that was offering to sell me a book of enchantment with Looting III, until I realized that I was confusing Looting with Fortune
Still not too shabby, though.
So back on topic, the only way to get more than 5 diamonds are:
1. Use the emergency cache
2. Buy a diamond pick from a villager instead of crafting it, saving 3 diamonds.
3. Before mining any diamond, find a villager willing to enchant your pickaxe with Fortune (or sell you a book of Fortune)
If you do both (trade for a diamond pick, then enchant it with Fortune III), you could end up with quite a few!

There are 5 diamonds on the map. Enough for a diamond pickaxe and an enchanting table. I see no problem mining the obsidian.
Or if you get lucky, you have a villager who can trade your iron pick with an iron pick enchanted with Fortune.

You are correct, but I think you've misunderstood the point I was responding to.
The original claim was that you could obtain more than 5 diamond without trading with villagers, by going through the following steps:
Mine just 2 of the 5 diamond blocks using an iron pick
Use the two diamonds to Craft an enchantment table
Enchant the iron pick with Fortune using the enchantment table
Use that iron pick to mine the remaining 3 diamond blocks, getting you extra diamond, and allowing you to craft a jukebox.
As I described, step #2 is impossible unless you already have a diamond pick, since building an enchantment table requires 4 obsidian. To get that diamond pick, you either had to trade with a villager, or mine the other 3 diamond ore, leaving you nothing left to use your fancy FORTUNE III pick on.

To add to what MegaTrain said, people are talking also about how to go about completing the Jukebox challenge without resorting to the Emergency Cache.

Ok, ok, let me clarify my statement...you can get to the nether without mining any of the 5 diamonds...I mined up 2 of the 5 so I could make an enchant table. (You might have seen them in one of my chests...still haven't used them yet)
What I was trying to say, I never said you could do it without trading with villagers...I just said that you could get more then 5 diamonds in this map...the way to do this IS with villager trading...and its even better with the new enchantable books...the old way would have been to give a villager some emeralds for a Diamond Pick... then mine up the obsidian and goto the nether...grab some lava to make more obsidian to get 4 more...make a enchant table and enchant an Iron Pick and hope and pray that you get fortune...then you can go mine the other 3 diamond ore and get anywhere from 3 to 6+ diamonds!
If you are playing the map on 1.4.7 then you can just enchant books or trade with villagers till you get fortune, then make an Anvil and put fortune on an Iron Pick...saves alot of resources...(well instead of having to kill the golems for more iron picks, you end up just killing cows to make more books!)
EDIT: As I re-read previous posts, I realized that I did mention "not bothering the villagers" and for that I apologize, I must have been tired or something and not thinking straight when I typed that...It is impossible to do if you don't trade with the villagers...You can make a pick and enchant table out of the 5 diamonds, but then you can't make a jukebox.
And here is Episode #7! Be prepared to listen for a famous sound within this video!
Though, I must say, only 7 soul sand? really can't really make much of a nether wart farm with that...especially when I like to make big farms...lol
Having such a small farm would annoy me a little but I might be able to get over it...and Soul Sand is also useful in making an interesting XP Farm...

Sadly, for some reason, fraps made the game lag ALOT..never did that before, and I have no idea what caused it now!
