um... maybe I'm not sure how well fire can jump through walls/across gaps in hard mode. I don't_THINK_it will break anything... also I stole your post and put links to the snapshots in the first post
I was actually constantly refreshing the page to see your response. Didn't realise I was the last post of the page & your post went to page 2. Derp
In that case, wish me luck, because I'm going in hard & you can bet it'll be a really long one too
I played it in hardmode, though admittedly without the snapshot... It'd be a great deal harder with the snapshot, considering mobs are way more interested in getting you and killing you there
I don't mind monsters killing me. That's their job & if they kill me, that means they're good at it & I'm the one that sucks at surviving.
The only thing I dislike abour hardmode is that fire can now potentially break the map which will be disappointing to say the least
I will promise right now that U will do my gosh darndest to get the snapshot working and that version tested. I'm dying to try it out.
If not, then I also then promise to give it a runthrough as soon as 1.4 hits. I do feel that I miss a fair chunk of the map, due to being to experience parts of it as intended (i.e. the strange monsters, and the like, especially).
For the start, I feel you shouldn't tell players they should break Cracked Stone Brick until after they pull the first ore. I, as soon as I heard I could, went on a rampage and broke all of them that I could find, which left so many paths open to me, I was hesitant to go down any of them, in the worry that I would come across something I shouldn't have, far too early.
Aha! So you had "normal map player" brain as I like to call it. In the beginning I actually had no maps and you would have to find all the dungeons yourself. Exploring in that regard is perfectly ok. All the dialogue is made in a way that if you approach it before, or after, or repeatedly it should still make sense in the context of the story
Oddly, this did pay off, as I *had* come across something early, but yeah, revealing to the player that more of the map is found behind Cracked Stone Bricks at a later time might help lead the player into the first puzzle and Ore, before setting them more free into the map.
Another thing was that, since I couldn't find the others (Having avoided where the Invisible Maze was, as it was what I had found before getting the first, 'tutorial' ore) I just wandered around the outside, and, not finding any there, was really getting a bit discouraged, before I realized that I had yet to find the Portal on the checklist After finding that, it was just a matter of working out where I hadn't been. Luckily, the Nether portion was excellent, as the maps led me quite perfectly as to where I needed to go!
Did you ever find Nirygalbann's shop on the plains with the map to the tree? Maybe I should make it easier to get to, or add it on the TODO list? I figured people would run into it both at the ladder AND having a sign saying "come up on top of the ravine"
I played it in hardmode, though admittedly without the snapshot... It'd be a great deal harder with the snapshot, considering mobs are way more interested in getting you and killing you there
Perhaps I'll fiddle around with the snapshot again tomorrow. It always gets stuck at the 'Updating Minecraft' screen though, and none of the fixes I've seen seem to help poor me :'(
(again some green above in the spoiler parts for you)
Yes I think the mob pathfinding is significantly better in the snapshot with them actually coming to you.

When can I watch the first video?
Yeah, I was wanting to stay within the bounds of the Tutorial before exploring outward. That was largely my reason behind adding the bit about Cracked Stone later - so the player grows a bit more accustomed to the world they're in, before they discover there's so much there, just waiting for them to find it
And I believe I did, but I just failed to realize what on earth the map was talking about, because I'm not very clever when it comes to map sections. Can you believe I got slightly stuck in the Nether, because I didn't recognize the very obvious staircase in the map image? Definently not your fault either - it's very clearly the one staircase in the area.
Hold yer horses Jarig. I'ma gettin' there. Haven't even downloaded anything yet. Besides I have to wait for Bassgoat to permit me to use the Eronev 2 music in my LP. Can't make an intro without an awesome music now can I?

I believe we agreed on it being creative commons but I will have to confirm with him.
How exciting. I remember playing the first Eronev mansion ages ago. I was the first person to get "The Fall" ending (and post about it) as I recall. I'll be downloading this later. I look forward to it!
WHY WAS I NOT NOTIFIED THIS WAS OUT IT IS AMAZING AND HAS PROBABLY ALREADY BEEN SCORED 20/20 BY RSMALEC AND SLAPPED AT THE TOP OF BLAMETC'S LIST AND PLAYED BY THE YOGSCAST AND #diesofheartfailure#
You would have been notified if you were subscribed to Jig. Why aren't you?
Also,
Played for ~2 hours. Died 2/3 times. Managed to reach the Safe-death progress level (i.e. you have renewable resources so even if you die, you can resume without too much difficulty). Placed 3 achievements on the board. Still partially confused but I'm okay with it. Found a few issues which weren't too severe & I managed to sort those out myself.
All in all, enjoyable session. Now please excuse me while I go make an awesome intro

Now the big question is if those deaths were my fault or yours I look forward to the LP
I should like to elaborate on the installation process so people know how to install the snapshot for optimal experience.
1. Find a map that you want to download. You did that, it's this one you want! Link is above. 2. Download the map to a place that you will remember (Downloads folder, Dekstop, wherever) 3. Unzip or Unrar the file using your archiver of choice (WinRAR, 7Zip, etc). 4. Copy the folder that was unzipped, unrared, etc., and navigate to your Minecraft saves folder:
If you're running Windows, your saves are located here: Press the Windows Key and R at the same time. In this dialogue type (or copy and paste) the following %appdata%\.minecraft\saves
If you're running on a Mac, your saves are located here: /Users/*username*/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves/
If you're running Linux, your saves are located here: `/.minecraft/saves
5. Paste the folder and re-name it if you desire. 6. Copy the saves and stats folders into a "backups" file. 7. Go to mojang.com and get the latest snapshot which will appear as minecraft.jar 8. Go to bin, rename your 1.3.2 or 1.2.5 or whatever it is to minecraft123, minecraft125, minecraft125modded etc. 9. paste in the new minecraft.jar snapshot release. 10. paste your stats back 11. Open Minecraft and you will have a snapshotted Eronev ready to play, plus your stats so you can see how many mobs you slay and pumpkins you save on your quest! 12. you may also like to use sk89q's launcher which lets you connect to 132 servers whilst your SP is in the snapshot -as long as both jars are in the bin folder
Thanks tom, I might just add that to the installing instructions.

That is really great! I, with my two friends, were playing this for 3-4 hours already. Though, as we like to grind and find Every Other Secret, actually, now are only going to go to the Petrified Tree. The only problem for us was the Silverfishplosion somewhere near the Sirvylamird's. After that, he (Sirvylamird) ran down into giant cave and died. Don't know, what to do without him now...
Exept that, it's GREAT. No, really.

I think you'll find, unless he falls into the void, he is quite resilient x) I have seen footage of him floating around in lava for extended periods of time, as well as being attacked by many zombies and he has made it out alive.

The only issue with him being in lava, is if you want to trade him (and any others), the trade inventory closes on every damage tick >.<
I really loved the map. The boss fight was easily the best boss fight I've ever seen done in Minecraft. I've yet to see anyone else post their achievements. I thought that was a really awesome feature. I'd like to think that I did quite well:
And is also, is it possible to get a full "jar" for diamond and iron? I thought I found a lot, but it turns out that I really didn't.
Very impressive! You did actually very well with the emeralds but there is indeed quite a few more iron and diamond, but they don't fill up exactly evenly. Still you did a really good job, especially with the DDD token. I'm going to enjoy seeing these screenshots, what did you think of the animal stories? x)
So excited to see this has been released, I only finished the first map a couple of weeks ago so this is perfect timing for me! I've already started recording my Let's Play, episode 1 is available now, more will be coming over the next couple of weeks or so. Hope you enjoy it.
I shall enjoy watching this as I enjoyed watching your previous series!
also: if anyone happened to start in creative... only 5-10 of you, just change yourself back to survival... minor mistake when I was doing a ninja update
Well, that wraps up my first play session. I didn't get much done in terms of achievements.
My favorite part so far has been the cave with the skeleton skulls. I REALLY like the custom mobs, you obviously spent a lot of time on them. The fireproof sheep was funny as well.
The very beginning seems very weak and a bit ugly in terms of aesthetics, but the soul cauldron itself is great. The bedrock rule can be a bit upsetting, but it doesn't take away too much. I really like the custom dialogue with the wooden buttons. One thing that I don't especially like is how you have to use tons of fire resistance, as potion brewing can be a bit dull and repetitive. I suppose it adds some challenge (the player has to watch the resistance), but I still think the map would be more fun if there were walkways instead of either fire resist or parkour.
Overall, there are a couple small things that I don't like, but so far the map is excellent. I'll give some more feedback in a day or two.

EDIT: Love this forum thread, BTW.
Using fire resistance potions is a means to an end... There is a zone where there is in fact no lava, but I think the best time is when you find water and a bucket (or craft)... this makes navigating the lava VERY easy and satisfying
I think people will find it interesting to see the differences between the beta and the final product.
So much has changed since beta. I flew around in creative to see what you added and all the snapshot features. I found a couple of the animal stories. They are hilarious.
A few other comments:
I took a look at a couple of your teleport command blocks, they are using @a rather than @p. In multiplayer, teleporting everyone might not be desired.
At the end of the map, why not add a teleport block straight back to the achievement room. Will save a little time for people playing snapshot.
Misspelling in achievement room far wall: vacinity s/b vicinity.
Dialogue at -18, 67, 312 doesn't make sense.
Love the floating souls you have to kill! That and the bonus command block dialogue are probably my favorite additions.

Oh c'mon, you already know whose fault it is
In any case, 10 episodes incoming soon. Here's a little teaser [How's that for originality ;]

Then the only solution is to save him! Why would you try to trade with sirvyl while he was burning??

There is that one villager in the Light Circle Hallway puzzle that has lava in his room, and frequently is set ablaze though
That would be naDnod... yes... he enjoys the fire for some reason x)
