why in ur newer versions there are no more ice blocks or lava buckets? I can't complete most of the challenges because of it. It looks cool though : )Im just asking did u take away the ice block and lava bucket because now all thats in there r seeds, coal, and different colors of wool blocks?
I'm having some trouble swapping out the level.dat so I can be rid of the ice type biomes... When I swap them out, nothing happens. The save loads and I'm still in an ice mountain biome. At first I thought it was because I was using a snapshot instead of 1.4.6 so I downloaded a fresh copy and it still wont work. I'm playing without any mods what so ever. Please help?
This looks like fun! I'm off to see how I do, and perhaps post some pics when I've accomplished a fair bit. Definitely going to start on peaceful though. I don't want to imagine the destruction a creeper could cause on this island

Just so you know, creepers can't spawn unless you're 20-something blocks away
So, I'm having trouble spawning squid on my skyblock in 1.4.6/1.4.7.
I've built a 6x6 pool, 4 blocks deep, sides lit with glowstone. To keep the surface from freezing, I built a "cover" of wooden slabs about 4 blocks above the pool.
I haven't seen any squid spawn, and it has been multiple minecraft days. Anything I'm doing wrong?
Oh, and there isn't any way to spawn other passive mobs (cows/sheep/pigs/chickens) on a Skyblock in the current version, is there? A hundred pages back someone was talking about a plains biome around (x=-155, z=125), but I think that was on a pre-1.8 version, where mob spawning was much different.

The only thing I can think, is your pond between y=46 and y=62? They won't spawn higher or lower.

You can spawn every passive mob. You should be able to spawn wolves, too. Ocelots won't spawn as this map came out before Jungles ever existed; you'd have to go to the mainland and hunt around for a jungle.
Use as much dirt as you can spare and make a grassy area off to the side. Then, wait for days and days. As you get animals there, herd them into their own cells and kill all but 2 of them to keep the populations down. Eventually, and I do mean EVENTUALLY, you'll get everything. Then, breed 'em as much as you want.
How do you go to the nether with no iron? If someone told me how to get ores I would be very thankful
Flint and Steel isn't the only way to generate fire. All you need is fire to hit the middle part of your portal and it'll light.I can't tell you how to get ores. There are none

OK, so technically you can get Iron from zombies, though it will take quite awhile to get much of it. Then there's the issues of getting flint. I don't remember seeing any gravel.
To start my nether portal I use the lava, and blocks of wood. It's more complicated, but it works. Though it's not always fast, sometimes it can take quite awhile before the portal lights.
I'm attempting to make a video that will show some of the more useful tricks and designs to use on skyblock. Though this was, and still is one of my favorite survival maps, I would very much like to see an update that includes more of the modern features of Minecraft. Like possibly a village island(at least one island that has a hut and two villagers in it.) an island with an end portal could be fun, and maybe a little more involvement inside the nether. You can get Gold as well in the nether, even only using what the map offers now. I'll show all this whenever I finish my video of the maps challenges.
Some of the tricks I will show will be how to get animals, Gold, iron, how to light the portal, a reliable and efficient cobble generator that will allow you to either use macro's or like I do, put a weighted object onto the left key so you can AFK while collecting cobble. a couple of different mob farm designs including one that will only spawn spiders, and one that will only spawn creepers, skeletons, and zombies. These are designs that you can make using only what is provided in skyblock. Though they can come in handy in other maps, even SP.
As soon as I get the video, or videos completed I will post the youtube link in here for those that are interested. I recommend playing this map if you haven't already. It's a great challenge.

Haha, if you want to get squid, make a water pool that drains into something. I know that I always seem to get squids showing up in water channels that I don't want them in. lol
Noobcrew already gave you the IP. It's skyblock.net
Did you go to the other island? You only get 1 lava bucket, and 1 ice at spawn. Then when you go to the nether, you get the final bucket.

Always the same will always be boring-uberevan
i would like to know how to make a mob spawn
Sincerly

Really? It's not infinitely entertaining forever? Well crap, I'd better not play it then.
Did you know I write Science Fiction? Well I do. Check it out at http://planetretcon.com/books/
