How I felt about the game and feedback in the spoiler:
Amazing game! :biggrin.gif:
I have to say, originally I was gonna be really sad that I didnt have ONE MORE GOLD INGOT to finish the 36 gold blocks, I was so happy when that one popped out of the wall :biggrin.gif:
Also, 8 cookies!!! managed to save them all to the end :biggrin.gif:
Sorry, my bugs list won't be very helpful as I can only remember one crucial bug:
After entering the dangerous forest, when you near the area that is near the top of the mansion (with the glass dome) It is possible to jump diagonally from a leaf block onto a dirt block, which lets you go directly from the forest power station to the glacial station.
I doubt this was intentional, so I decided to point this out. I found it useful, as I exploited it myself, but I don't know if you wanted that to be a possible pathway.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't read from a post above me that already pointed this out
I don't consider these next bits bugs, but figured you'd like any feedback you could get.
When I destroyed the brain of the demon, while standing on the obsidian block I still took damage. The armor protected me from actually taking damage, but my character shifted and made the noise as if he took damage. It also took me awhile to notice that the next passage was behind me xD
At the very start of the game I didn't realize that the npc was a pumpkin head and signs, and I obliviously ran around town before stopping to analyze the signs xD
Also, when I first went to the cooling station, I didn't realize I could break the minecart and put it onto the other track. So, I went back to the surface and walked all the back to the main station. I dunno if I missed a sign or something, but it wasn't very obvious to me that I could break the minecart.
Something I'd recommend, if I may, is to not have a full set of diamond armor, it made the game a little too easy to play without dying. Same goes for the bow and arrow, it made fending monsters off quite easy. Then again, I'm probably one of the few that tried to search very intricately for all the hidden treasures the map had to offer. I ended up finding two bows xD
Keep in mind I'm thinking of these randomly after having finished the game xD Sorry if they don't follow the order the game flows in.
Is there a way to make the timer for the BRF (BFR?) noteblock puzzle longer? By the time I figured out what to do, I didn't have enough time to do it and ended dying to the lava (luckily I used the save chest). Another thing I accidentally did to that puzzle was change the pitch of one of the note blocks without thinking xD I'm not sure if I missed a sign that said not to touch them, but that is probably what actually caused me to fail the puzzle as I spent a lot of time trying to get it back to the right note.
I don't know if I was suppose to or not, but I instinctively broke the 2x2 painting that was in the hallway to the mansion's garden. I then followed to try to not break the 1x2 near it that also had a hidden chest.
My favorite parts of the map:
The first that comes to mind is the ice maze, a brilliant idea! I had never thought of or seen it done before xD very clever.
That one hidden chest that you have to break clay blocks to find. I loved the sign that told me I did a good job of finding the chest :3
The way you used pistons to show the power stations charging up. That surprised me the first time and amazed me the next two times. It was brilliant.
When I first entered the second version of the mansion with the demon, I was amazed. You put so much effort into this adventure map! And it doesn't even use mods! Even more so, the bits of the map that I did not expect to be connected with redstone were in fact connected with redstone. You did so much wiring, it was brilliant.
The use of spider webs in the map! This is one of the few maps that I've seen use it. It added a very nice touch to the map, not only serving aesthetically, but much better than something like cloth blocks which you can't see through. Most maps use glass or cloth as blocks you need to break, which makes it very confused for when you're not suppose to break them.
The hiding of chests in the demon version of the town! I had almost given up looking for chests until I saw one in the ground, revealed thanks to TNT. Although, I found finding them in this part of the map very difficult and only managed to find one more in the demon town.
I could go on if you'd like with an edit or PM, but it's getting late for me.
This is THE BEST adventure map I have ever played. Most of the time I accidentally break them when trying to "fully explore" the map, but not with this one. My only regret is not being able to find another gold ingot! (if there was one, then I'd have a total of 37 gold blocks at the end!) (how many gold ingots/ingots are actually in the map?)
I have to say, this is the best adventure map I've played on because it doesn't matter how detailed you want to be in the game for you to reach the conclusion. You can just quickly run through the scenarios to see the different endings, or meticulously search every block of the map to find every gold ingot you can. I loved it, thanks soo much for making it!
oh, I nearly forgot. Can I be added to the high score list? :biggrin.gif:
just finished the map and i think it is amazing. It became kind of emotional when all of the sudden the whole place is destroyed :biggrin.gif: great job. And you got a good subtle sense of humour, too :smile.gif:
My score was 123 (i did not go back to collect the chests i needed an axe for), and i lost some gold in the process. description in spoiler text.
i saved 7 villagers, but i am not sure if one of the pumpkins glitched away. It said BEST ending :biggrin.gif:
Things ("bugs") i noticed (those i remember):
- coming from the dangerous forest, i could jump on the double block wall behind the mansion using a tree, so i was at the glacier outpost too early.
- all my gold i found until i entered the outposts at some point was lost, because i wanted to keep it safe in the "Save Room" :-/ unfortunately the room was non-existent when i returned. otherwise my score would have been almost doubled. and i had like 2 or 3 pumpinks in that chest, so i think i "had to" cheat at the ending with Barry(?) i mean, i knew i had the pumpinks...
- i forgot all about it when i was amazed from the village being destroyed :biggrin.gif:
- inside of the monster i kinda lost track of where i was supposed to go next. i dont know if i destroyed its parts in the correct order, or if it didnt matter. i just found the last door by accident. plus i didnt know exactly if i was supposed to place blocks inside the monster or not. and i always threw away my moss stone and clay, so i had no blocks. i destroyed some netherrack...
- as i am so much interested in the minecart station, i could not help myself but mining out of the cartridge system, after i fell into the arrivals gate :biggrin.gif: i dont know if many people act stupid like me and use the pressure plate like 5 times while running back and forth..
- i was a little confused when i activated the "last" outpost and desperately tried to curve the tracks around the wood to get to the soul outpost. then i noticed the new signs which said "all outposts activated", though the "Soul Outpost" seemed to me like the last missing thing to activate. if you know what i mean.
- did i miss a chest with a button? or did i enter the pyramid too early? you have to leave the button there behind, i think. i couldnt help myself but going back to cheat me the button.
- is the lighthouse no part of the main story?
GREAT stuff :biggrin.gif::
- the hidden chest where you had to destroy clay and put it on the pressure plate :biggrin.gif:
- it was great that the "dangerous forest" actual WAS dangerous :biggrin.gif:
- the ice maze.. such a cool idea
- the whole "remove the head from the npc"-self irony :biggrin.gif:
- and again, the destruction of the village blows minds. i would have never thought of that.
- all other stuff.
*EDIT*:
- FINAL FANTASY 7 WINNING THEME :biggrin.gif:
Nice work! I enjoyed it playing. I never thought one could do something like that without mods. ITs just minecraft. I know why i bought this game!
Responses to your bugs, which were very informative!
I don't mind that people can jump from the forest to the glacier and vice versa. Once the minecart station is open, you can do any of those zones at any time. It doesn't matter what order you do them in.
With the save room, there should have been signs before you went to the soul outpost that told you to bring all your gold and npcs with you before you went there.
inside the demon, the placing of blocks is technically optional I just made it allowed to make it easier. It is possible to do the inside of the demon without placing any blocks by jumping around on his ribs, but it's pretty hard.
How did you fall into the station??? I was thinking about putting a door there for maintenance in case someone fell in but i thought it would be pretty hard to so noone would xD
I will be modifying the signs a bit, maybe ill rename the soul post sign to make there be less confusion. I guess it is weird that someone says all outposts and yet you never make it to the soul outpost.
with the pyramid you can do the whole thing as soon as you get only a sword. the button can be reused for all the times its needed in there. the only time it's stuck is when you use it to use the minecart. which of course is intentional since the button should only be used for that area of the pyramid.
and the lighthouse is not part of the main story. just there for looks really :smile.gif:
I will be doing a quick fix today to fix everything you talked about. thanks so much for the feedback it helped a lot.
How I felt about the game and feedback in the spoiler:
lots of stuff
Super amazing job on the score! I am working on an update for 1.3 to fix some bugs and add some signs to help guide players in the right direction in some areas, so your post was super helpful.
in depth response:

I doubt this was intentional, so I decided to point this out. I found it useful, as I exploited it myself, but I don't know if you wanted that to be a possible pathway.
It was intentional actually, I figured if they were clever enough to jump up there then it didn't matter too much. Also the fact that you gain access to all the outposts at the same time, so if someone was so inclined they could just as easily take a minecart to the glacier first. I have actually put some signs up there now to stop people telling me its a bug xD (says something like "oh cool, you can access this other area through here")
When I destroyed the brain of the demon, while standing on the obsidian block I still took damage. The armor protected me from actually taking damage, but my character shifted and made the noise as if he took damage. It also took me awhile to notice that the next passage was behind me xD
Yeah I know... it is actually a ploy to keep the player on that block to make them more easily find the passage down that opens up. I put a few more signs there to more or less tell them to look around, you're not the first one to mention that it was difficult to figure out where to go after that.
At the very start of the game I didn't realize that the npc was a pumpkin head and signs, and I obliviously ran around town before stopping to analyze the signs xD
lol
Also, when I first went to the cooling station, I didn't realize I could break the minecart and put it onto the other track. So, I went back to the surface and walked all the back to the main station. I dunno if I missed a sign or something, but it wasn't very obvious to me that I could break the minecart.
I have added signs at each of the outposts now explaining how to use them, thanks for that
Something I'd recommend, if I may, is to not have a full set of diamond armor, it made the game a little too easy to play without dying. Same goes for the bow and arrow, it made fending monsters off quite easy. Then again, I'm probably one of the few that tried to search very intricately for all the hidden treasures the map had to offer. I ended up finding two bows xD
You pointed it out there yourself. People who play to look for everything will have an easier time with the map. It's like any game, the more time you put into it the better your character will become. I also have to think about if people are playing SMP. There is the same amount of items. So on SMP if you're playing it with 4 players, suddenly there isn't a full set of diamond armor and each player only gets one piece... that's IF they even find them in the first place since the whole set is optional.
There is, but I don't really want to. As it is optional, I do want to make some of the puzzles kind of hard. I think this is one of the hardest in the game. Some people find the answer very easily, some do not. I did lots of testing with this particular one, people who "get it" usually are able to figure it out in under 2 minutes. People who "get it" after some time, it usually takes around the 4 minutes. and I don't want people who will never get it to be stuck in there for longer than 5 minutes waiting for death since it would become boring for them. Secret: it actually takes around 4 and a half minutes to activate. I do allow some time for reading signs :smile.gif:
I don't know if I was suppose to or not, but I instinctively broke the 2x2 painting that was in the hallway to the mansion's garden. I then followed to try to not break the 1x2 near it that also had a hidden chest.
Breaking paintings makes no difference, you're able to get into the rooms whether they're broken or not so it doesn't matter too much.
The first that comes to mind is the ice maze, a brilliant idea! I had never thought of or seen it done before xD very clever.
Thanks, I liked it. It reminds me of in Zelda:OOT there is a dungeon like that
That one hidden chest that you have to break clay blocks to find. I loved the sign that told me I did a good job of finding the chest :3
Haha... but did you find both of them?
The way you used pistons to show the power stations charging up. That surprised me the first time and amazed me the next two times. It was brilliant.
The wiring for that thing is a lot more complex than it looks haha.
When I first entered the second version of the mansion with the demon, I was amazed. You put so much effort into this adventure map! And it doesn't even use mods! Even more so, the bits of the map that I did not expect to be connected with redstone were in fact connected with redstone. You did so much wiring, it was brilliant.
Yeah I did, it was really tough actually. I'll be putting up a video on my channel in the next week or two showing some of the behind the scenes. There is a ridiculous amount of redstone in this map.
The hiding of chests in the demon version of the town! I had almost given up looking for chests until I saw one in the ground, revealed thanks to TNT. Although, I found finding them in this part of the map very difficult and only managed to find one more in the demon town.
I actually tried removing them all, guess I missed one :tongue.gif:

I don't actually know how many ingots are in the level (lol) But the jar can be overfilled. I'll be counting them when I have time since I do know where they're all hidden. But it wont be till next week.
oh, I nearly forgot. Can I be added to the high score list? :biggrin.gif:
And that was the last ending I was waiting for! It looks like all the endings have been discovered now :smile.gif: Glad you enjoyed the ride.
well at least i didnt die in vain :tongue.gif:
i played through it again and did much better this time. i found more gold and got "the best" ending. think i got up to "explorer pro" with two gold blocks in "explorer perfectionist" and 2 gold bars left over. and i saved all the NPC's :biggrin.gif: .
it was still fun playing through it again. once again, great map

Awesome! I'm glad people are getting multiple play throughs with this. It's exactly what I was hoping for but was worried people wouldn't want to go through the whole adventure again. The fact they do I guess is a testament to the quality of the map which I am super proud of!
Anyway I just updated to Version 1.3 which really only added some signs to help guide the player in a few problem areas. I think the map is pretty rock solid now.
I wasn't expecting a lot starting this map, but quickly, I realised how wrong I was. Character detail, exceptional use of Redstone and not to forget a good eye for design.
I was amazed, and I think this map deserves a 10/10, hitting all my sweet spots.

And provide very bad arguments.

Thank you! I think that is the general consensus. It isn't the best looking map tbh. I'm not that great at architecture and such and will probably have to team up with an artist next time I make one. But I think this map does have a lot going for it in other areas. Glad you enjoyed it.
I'm surprised there are so few let's plays of this one so far!
I wanted to do one of this map, but my other attempts at Let's Plays usually ended up with me forgetting to hit record, or the video getting corrupted before I could use it... |D;
And now my mic is broken... >U *Kicks mic*

Haha, I saw your name posted and I half expected to see a new score up since someone knocked you off the top ;D
I'd love to make a super in depth let's play that shows where all the gold ingots are, but I doubt I found them all on my first run xD Also, my internet isn't so good, so even uploading 10 minutes videos would take awhile. If you'd like I still have a go at it though :biggrin.gif:
I'm currently in the middle of my second run through, using version 1.4. I played the first run in one whole session, but I'm taking breaks this time xD
http://www.fotothing.com.br/di-H9K5.png (The print is big, so I put a link xD)
I made the best ending xD
I am a subscriber from your YouTube channel, and I was amazed with the work you had with the redstone wiring
I like the fact that it directs you at the next part, like when you can only go to the last minecart outpost if you find the axe and places like the outside garden of the mansion where it looks like natural but it has a 2 high wall so that you can't pass... And the multiple ending... that was genius!
Awesome, one of the best custom maps I have ever played!
One thing: When I put the pumpkin head and exploded the demon's heart, the next door didn't opened, so I cheated to pass that part

I think that would take hours of video to document every chest location. Good luck if you try xD I am working on figuring out how many gold bars there are in the level at the moment actually. It's a pity I have to go to work soon :sad.gif:

would you mind letting me know once you find out? x] I'd like to know how close I was to finding them all :biggrin.gif:
Me and my girlfriend finished your truly magnificant map!
This is our score:
And one left over gold bar.
However...
We cheated one lever. The gold is all found fair, but the Glacier Outpost... where are you supposed to find the lever to activate it? In the end we spawned one in, since we wanted to continue the great adventure. And we kinda went back and forth through the map, finding gold bars.
Great map!
Great job on the score! As for the lever... I have noticed that sometimes, randomly, there is some redstone torches and levers that completely disappear for no reason. I once loaded my world in SMP only to find the lever was gone??? Which I guess the same happened to you. It seems like every now and again the world doesn't copy correctly. So don't feel bad, all the outposts are supposed to have the lever attached. If it doesn't it's an issue with minecraft and the save file, not the map :tongue.gif: I also notice there isn't any torches on the wall there for your score card. I am guessing the same thing happened there. It's weird how that happens. I wonder why.
:biggrin.gif:
ps. sorry about the double post :sad.gif:

So on SMP if you're playing it with 4 players, suddenly there isn't a full set of diamond armor and each player only gets one piece... that's IF they even find them in the first place since the whole set is optional.
This is THE BEST adventure map I have ever played. Most of the time I accidentally break them when trying to "fully explore" the map, but not with this one. My only regret is not being able to find another gold ingot! (if there was one, then I'd have a total of 37 gold blocks at the end!) (how many gold ingots/ingots are actually in the map?)
I don't actually know how many ingots are in the level (lol) But the jar can be overfilled. I'll be counting them when I have time since I do know where they're all hidden. But it wont be till next week.
oh, I nearly forgot. Can I be added to the high score list? :biggrin.gif:
Absolutley.
well at least i didnt die in vain :tongue.gif:
i played through it again and did much better this time. i found more gold and got "the best" ending. think i got up to "explorer pro" with two gold blocks in "explorer perfectionist" and 2 gold bars left over. and i saved all the NPC's :biggrin.gif: .
it was still fun playing through it again. once again, great map
I was amazed, and I think this map deserves a 10/10, hitting all my sweet spots.
Super Oph comes to save the day!
And nom cookies. :3
And provide very bad arguments.
***Warning, not to be taken to seriously***
Thank you! I think that is the general consensus. It isn't the best looking map tbh. I'm not that great at architecture and such and will probably have to team up with an artist next time I make one. But I think this map does have a lot going for it in other areas. Glad you enjoyed it.
I wanted to do one of this map, but my other attempts at Let's Plays usually ended up with me forgetting to hit record, or the video getting corrupted before I could use it... |D;
And now my mic is broken... >U *Kicks mic*
Haha, I saw your name posted and I half expected to see a new score up since someone knocked you off the top ;D
I'm currently in the middle of my second run through, using version 1.4. I played the first run in one whole session, but I'm taking breaks this time xD
