I wanted to keep the file size as small as possible, and also have a way for people to leave comments on the different parts.
What i will prolly do in future versions, is 1. include mp3s, and 2. include text for those that want it.
Is it possible to get the mp3 files? Would make nicer walkthoughs if i had mp3s and not downloaded youtube videos pasted into Vegas, well the download mp3 sound file because a picture makes a bad video....but yah. I wanted to do a walkthough and have your voice pop in. Would be better to fade and add something rather than tab to a video, or possibly just tab and play the mp3.

I have the original .wav files that i can convert to mp3, not sure when i will be able to have the time though.
in the meantime you can put the ripped videos into vegas and then just disable the video portion leaving the audio to play while you keep playing
Played the map, its quite good, altho there is not much puzzles there? I mean most of it is just going thru a lot of monsters and activating the switches.. With a lot of flavour of the environment, weird choice but its a good map, in the next one i would make a little less fighting and some more puzzles, instead of "mages arent so good at hiding stuff -.-"
Its a nice map tho :smile.gif: Should a take tons a lot of time to make youtube videos o.o
probably not without the addition of mods. I wanted to steer clear of mods for this map
Not sure about anyone else but all my install come standard with modloader and audiomod

I don't usually do this, but I'm enjoying this map a great deal and I am going to give you my play through notes (up thru video 10) even though I have to pause for a few hours and do 'real life' stuff. I will finish your map tonight and leave the full review, plus rating. But so far I'm loving it (except I fear the 'difficulty' category will keep you from a perfect 20 - but you should be proud of that since your intention was to be difficult).
---
This map takes my 'audio narration' idea to the next level with Youtube videos. Although, you should add text versions so the player can read offline at their own pace if they wish (or .mp3 files).
It also occurs to me that you can compare your # of downloads to the # of views on each video and see where people stop following the game! Very interesting.
Hmmm... there's a sign in the first room that says "Read Note 1" but I didn't find your note files so I started watching the video 1.
I gasped as I fell. Nice way to kick start my adrenaline right off the bat. Landed in a puddle of wet zombies. Ok - so even on easy... this may be tough?
Clever that the music keeps going in the background - curious if you timed it for how long you think it will take to get to the next video checkpoint? (I took a long time to explore, so my music ended early)
The buildings in town are pretty standard shape and single texture for the most part.
Plenty of arrows and torches in town. A good sign. But no bow yet.
Started donning chain armor in the town. So the leather was pretty useless.
Ah - wolf companions. (I don't expect much help from them, but taking three anyway)
Texture pack is a little dark.
Glad you labeled the 'south gate'
And there's my bow! (sad, how excited I get over a bow)
I really like the table with 4 fence posts and wooden pressure plates
OMG. WOLVES! GRRRR! I hit a pig and 3 wolves came rushing at it, knocking the pig off the cliff. And then 2 of the wolves proceeded to jump over the cliff, after the pig. Ridiculous.
And then my other wolf just DIED for no reason at all... right as he was passing the south gate. I don't see anything around that would have injured him. Possibly got stuck on the fence and suffocated?
Ok - at least you only gave us 1 piece of chain so far, the leather wasn't completely useless.
Wooden sword's just about to break tho.
Standing at the broken bridge, then looking right I see some awesome giant chains in the distance, holding floating islands together. NICE TOUCH!
Giant spider is magnificent, but no time to see it.
Soulstone - evil!
This room is quite difficult. Ugh, spider webs!
EEK - used all my food and arrows to clear the room. I am weaponless, with 6 hearts.
I don't remember seeing any more weapons in town if I die. I'm going to have to punch mobs?
Ack. Spoke too soon. Mobs respawning in this room as I try to look at the spider.
(If I don't set to peaceful I am going to be extremely frustrated and may not finish - also fear creepers blowing this up... so in the spirit of a good rating, I assume this will get a 'too hard' and yet I do want to see everything...)
Setting back to easy after the spider room, but not sure how long...
Well hidden lever
What I thought were monster spawners (and stuck torches on them) turned out not to be jackolanterns :/
Need to go back and get my wasted torches now.
Creeper just blew a hole in the wall ... now one just blew up the fountain. Screw it. Gotta switch to peaceful until I get out of the dungeon - sorry.
Nice bridge rebuilding (I saw a tutorial on it but haven't used that yet).
I can't help thinking that you sound like a Dungeon Master :smile.gif:
Took me a minute to realize why it was called 'great wing bridge'
Just burned 8 bones trying to tame a wolf :sad.gif:
Tower is fairly straight forward. Re-gear is a blessing.

at this point - how can I not go across the chain before the wing bridge?! :smile.gif:
hmm... video 7 (not 6). ah - lol. Now THAT was cool

omg - that was a ridiculous amount of mobs coming out of this... building
hmmm... video 8. I'm going to go back and do 6. I'm not sure if we should stay linear or not. If so, an idea would be to have a broken chain and sometime after 6, give the player a few blocks and tell them to manually repair the chain.
OOH. Listened to 6. Ok, so I only missed a video. Ok I'm on track.
Video 9 made me laugh.
Looking for an entrance... looking for an entrance. Scared to put down a torch lest the whole shelf fall... (guess I've played Skylands too much)
Ahah! Thanks for the light. Much easier to find at night.
ok 3 (out of 4?) nicely hidden switches... now the problem (with floor switches) is... which ones did I already hit? :/
NICE effect near the fence. Really like the chests out on a limb, even if I hate jumping puzzles and had to /fly back up about 6 times.
In fact, the hidden chests are really well done so far.
This one section with spawners by tiny floating platforms - the mobs just fall to their deaths. Spiders might have been a better choice than zombies (not that I want this to be any MORE difficult!)
I'll post a longer review soon, but everything looks great!
As I posted on someone elses map thread, when you're making trailers, for the flying/cinematic shots, press "F8" in-game for a smooth camera, so the movements aren't jerky.

I haven't seen much of the map yet and judging of the replies, you sir, have created a great map. Can I do an LP of this map, I might have to transcribe the audio as well, but I don't mind.

Wow. That was simply awesome. Beautiful. Creative. Detailed. FRESH. The -only- thing I can complain about
is the mob density. But you know what... that's never been why I play these adventure maps. I can just switch
it over to peaceful and then back. If you play this map and stick strictly to the author's recommendation of
'normal' you will fail, and I have to believe you will rage quit - in this case the map would get a 17/20 which
is a fabulous score. BUT... put the mob density aside and it has EVERYTHING ELSE in my scale.
So it's a 20/20.
I can't tell you how happy I am to play this map with the audio. I have 2 maps with recorded narration. I got
good response/feedback, and it looked like it worked well on Let's Plays. But it's just not the same being on
this side of the camera. NOW I got to play a map where someone else put excellent, professional effort into a
great map and then spiced it up with audio. It works! It works really well!
I am so blown away that this is your first map (unless you have an alter ego on the forums). I can't wait to
see behind the scenes a bit.

<have to pause at video 10 for a few hours>
Oh very nice - sequential portals. I would not have gotten that to work right :smile.gif:
It's a very nice effect.
And I like the stone tabletops.
Ok - past the Video 11, going to try for NORMAL difficulty...
Redstone glitch is unfortunate. I think it is the distance (possibly combined with nether). Signals just
'stop' traveling after 200 or so blocks. Possibly if you have too many repeaters, possibly if that part of the
game that the redstone signal flows into isn't loaded into memory. I have this same issue in my Mars Mission
map I'm working on and had to completely re-do the redstone.
So I just used /fly to get across.
And picked up a new wolf (to sacrifice no doubt).
I have to point out the fact that the narrator is talking to me, but he's presumably far away? I should re-
watch the earlier video to see if this is explained...
Oh WOW - the two statues are WELL DONE!!
Going around the big castle.
LONG way around
Ooh, my first piece of Diamond armor!
Nnnnnnnnnot a big fan of the cave that leads to the crypt. It's just dark for the sake of darkness. You got a
good story going with interesting special effects. I don't think you need the darkness, just to make us suffer
:smile.gif:
OH GOODNESS! That was a hole.
Tomb of the Kings
The "chest art" is appreciated. Kings in various states of decomposure, buried with their golden raiment.
Nice mini-maze
Unless I missed something, "stay to the left" makes you pass up the switch.
Well... you told me that "stay to the left" won't work... after I'd already gone 5 rooms to the left... so I
keep going... and going... and going... this was a bad idea... :sad.gif: ... keep going...
Hmm... I keep hearing fire and/or portal... must be somewhere around here...
Hmm... hear pigs...
Aha! Now... why was I here again? :smile.gif:
Water diamonds are nice
I think this is the first time I've been given sticks, to make my own torches?
Houses look more detailed here - multiple textures.
ooh - almost got me with the disappearing bridge. clever. here goes...
GHASTS. NOoooooooooo!
And I can't see anything in this room with black texture.
You are so mean! You -are- like a Dungeon Master. Like the time this guy Dan put us all in a hotel room with
no armor and weapons and a Terminator came crashing through the wall and killed us. And he said, "you were
supposed to run."
Whoa... that was weird. I was picking up the diamond sword, and about to walk away when all of a sudden a
statue moved and another chest was revealed. But I didn't step on anything I think... ?Whoa, and as I'm looking
around, suddenly the first chest is closed by a block moving up!
How did you time that?!
Hmm... a dead end now...
aha!
ooh - I'm going to have to come back and peek behind the scenes to see how you did this delayed redstone. it
almost feels random even...
Oh for goodness sake!
I was seriously considering giving you a "4" for difficulty because you intentionally paced this out, and the
puzzles/lighting/hidden/challenges feel perfect. But the mob dificulty is way too overbalanced to the negative.
Hmm... at this point... do I even trust you to jump down this pit? Ack. What choice do I have? :sad.gif:
... speechless
(although... folks on low end computers may not be able to see it quite like I just did)
Was that the end? Re-listened to the video. Seems like I'm missing something.
Oh - what's this back here... hhm... 19 again? Aw damn. I listened to 19 instead of 18! Ok.. back on track.
Twisty hall is beautiful. I saw this somewhere else and intended to put it in one of my maps, but I never did.
Well done.
And your voice is now younger. That's crazy brilliant.
Oh... I am SO happy it says
T B C!! I can't wait.
Ugh... my rating scale is not right. This map needs a higher rating. Or rather, I need to start weighing the
'mob density' differently, since you can simply put it over to peaceful. It's got to be based more heavily on
the puzzles, lighting, etc... ok. so... wow. bravo. spectacular.

It also occurs to me that you can compare your # of downloads to the # of views on each video and see where
people stop following the game! Very interesting.
Hmmm... there's a sign in the first room that says "Read Note 1" but I didn't find your note files so I started
watching the video 1.
I gasped as I fell. Nice way to kick start my adrenaline right off the bat. Landed in a puddle of wet zombies.
Ok - so even on easy... this may be tough?
Clever that the music keeps going in the background - curious if you timed it for how long you think it will
take to get to the next video checkpoint?
And then 2
of the wolves proceeded to jump over the cliff, after the pig. Ridiculous.
And then my other wolf just DIED for no reason at all... right as he was passing the south gate. I don't see
anything around that would have injured him. Possibly got stuck on the fence and suffocated?
Ok - at least you only gave us 1 piece of chain so far, the leather wasn't completely useless.
Wooden sword's just about to break tho.
Standing at the broken bridge, then looking right I see some awesome giant chains in the distance, holding
floating islands together.
(If I don't set to peaceful I am going to be extremely frustrated and may not finish - also fear creepers
blowing this up... so in the spirit of a good rating, I assume this will get a 'too hard' and yet I do want to
see everything...)
Screw it. Gotta switch to peaceful
until I get out of the dungeon - sorry.
Back to 'easy'
at this point - how can I not go across the chain before the wing bridge?! :smile.gif:
hmm... video 7 (not 6). ah - lol. Now THAT was cool
(and you TOTALLY sound like a DM)
broken chain is awesome
omg - that was a ridiculous amount of mobs coming out of this... building
hmmm... video 8. I'm going to go back and do 6. I'm not sure if we should stay linear or not. If so, an idea
would be to have a broken chain and sometime after 6, give the player a few blocks and tell them to manually
repair the chain.
Much easier to find at night.
ok 3 (out of 4?) nicely hidden switches... now the problem (with floor switches) is... which ones did I already
hit? :/
NICE effect near the fence. Really like the chests out on a limb, even if I hate jumping puzzles and had to
/fly back up about 6 times.
In fact, the hidden chests are really well done so far.
This one section with spawners by tiny floating platforms - the mobs just fall to their deaths. Spiders might
have been a better choice than zombies (not that I want this to be any MORE difficult!)
Nnnnnnnnnot a big fan of the cave that leads to the crypt. It's just dark for the sake of darkness. You got a
good story going with interesting special effects. I don't think you need the darkness, just to make us suffer
:smile.gif:
OH GOODNESS! That was a hole.
Tomb of the Kings
The "chest art" is appreciated. Kings in various states of decomposure, buried with their golden raiment.
Nice mini-maze
Well... you told me that "stay to the left" won't work... after I'd already gone 5 rooms to the left... so I
keep going... and going... and going... this was a bad idea...
Ugh... my rating scale is not right. This map needs a higher rating. Or rather, I need to start weighing the
'mob density' differently, since you can simply put it over to peaceful. It's got to be based more heavily on
the puzzles, lighting, etc... ok. so... wow. bravo. spectacular.
