I think I'll wait until I can get SPC installed again before resuming. However, I have to admit the mini-games and the environments were some of the best I've had the chance of playing! The minecart one was great, the NES puzzle was amazing (konami code, eh?) and of course, I really liked the minecart ride with five carts. glad you liked it so much! and yeah, spc is highly recommended for this map. I don't know why no one has made a "save game state" type of mod that would allow you to save/load a backup game easily and quickly (hint hint wink wink). and i am REALLY glad you enjoyed the "minecart jumping" challenge. I really wanted to come up with something new that I haven't seen anywhere before. Not sure why yo lagged so much (maybe turn down your viewing distance?)
If you only got to 1-1, then you've only made it through about 2/33rds of the map (32 levels plus start of game for total), so much more to go (there's a warp zone to world 2,3,4 at the end of 1-2 :tongue.gif: ). Will try to keep up the hard work, the next update is a while away but I hope that the map I'm working on now will hold everyone over till then. Thanks for the feedback!

the starting tower (6 floors) is just a way to test basic skills and if you didn't get past that then you fail, major fail (and that's not mean! i swear! the 6 levels test the MOST BASIC skills: jump, throw, climb, pull lever, shoot arrows...there are no tricks)

Eh, you should know Fellonius. If he feels trapped, then it's an escape map! It doesn't matter if a map is depicted as an adventure, puzzle or escape one - it's all about how the player finds it. Unfortunate, because his advice can be rather useful.

yeah, i'm getting the impression some people get discouraged and leave so i'm planning on adding a way to skip the beginning story altogether, that way people don't give up before they even get to the actual SMB part. do you guys find any part of that tower hard or tricky? it's really meant to be pure basics so you can go through it in no more than a min.

I don't think it feels difficult, as much as it feels... tight. The only problem I had with it was the dark feeling emanating from it, as well as the lack of space throughout. I guess that, playing a Mario map, you might not be expecting something too dark at the beginning! I didn't have any real problems with it, though. Just minor details.
I say; we found your map rather fun, old chap! We have produced a small videogram depicting the first level. Good show!

This is an utterly fantastic recreation of 4 Mario games in one (soon to be 10 in one). I counted at least 4 puzzles that I've never seen before and they were pretty amazing. I will absolutely replay this when it's done and check out the 4 prior maps!!!!

Thanks a lot for the review!!!! yes, some things that I need to fix that you have clearly noticed are:
-flowers might have to be changed to actual flowers, instead of coins, or just removed from random areas
-the red rug in the abandoned house was supposed to cover the hole, but I forgot I left it open. Going to the top of the mountain simply tells you you can break through the red rug.
-i have to fix the minecart lava bridge
-you just have to get past bowser, no need to attack him. i just wanted to force people to use the moving platform.
BUT there should be no dead end at level 3-3!!! all 8 levels are pretty much complete as far as the bulk of the levels goes! let me go check what might have happened...yeah, i have NO idea. the bridge is supposed to lead right to the start of 3-4 which leads you to a warp pipe to level 4...maybe you had a glitch in the game?
also, there are no other parts of the game, it's just updates of the same map. i just gave the versions a little name :tongue.gif:
and mario clash is a game for the virualboy gaming system...which never really caught on lol google some videos.

......what?!?! :huh.gif: i have no idea what you're talking about....other than the boat there is no TNT anywhere (only in SMB mini game that's a wip, and that's only 1, and it's very very very far away from where you are) so maybe you are dreaming. or maybe it was a creeper exploding somewhere. I usually just walk up behind the boats and give them a gentle push. then jump on as soon as they leave the current. I have no idea what happened to you.....herobrine?
EDIT: and there will be many more treats like that when i'm done....many many more. I still have a lot of paintings and textures to update :wink.gif: ....btw, the adventure update is going to push this map to a whole new level ::know on wood::

ok so my friend and i just finished playing this map, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, I am really looking forward to whats gonna be added, (especially that second warp zone, I am never playing world 6 multiplayer again) i hope you get around to completing some of those minigames, wrecking crew was awesome, for as far as it went
1630 downloads total!!! crazy! and over 600 just for version 5 alone! sorry i've been pretty busy with school stuff but i'm going home friday for a 3 week, much needed, vacation! so I plan on quickly finishing up the other map i'm working on now and getting back to this with a renewed interest (....got really bored with it at one point to be honest...too much hard work :tongue.gif:)
EDIT: and i'm honestly going to take a look at programming mods during my vacation...so there's always that....
The screenshots look mighty fine, and I can't wait to play it! I'll get back to you on how much I love or hate it! :wink.gif:

-make the path more straightforward, closed off from wandering around, and with easier to follow directions
-include a way to skip the story section of the game at the beginning and proceed right to the SMB levels.
-make the levels more interesting (hopefully will be better once i finish fire chains and platforms)
-make directions clearer

Thanks a lot for the review!!!! yes, some things that I need to fix that you have clearly noticed are:
-flowers might have to be changed to actual flowers, instead of coins, or just removed from random areas
-the red rug in the abandoned house was supposed to cover the hole, but I forgot I left it open. Going to the top of the mountain simply tells you you can break through the red rug.
-i have to fix the minecart lava bridge
-you just have to get past bowser, no need to attack him. i just wanted to force people to use the moving platform.
BUT there should be no dead end at level 3-3!!! all 8 levels are pretty much complete as far as the bulk of the levels goes! let me go check what might have happened...yeah, i have NO idea. the bridge is supposed to lead right to the start of 3-4 which leads you to a warp pipe to level 4...maybe you had a glitch in the game?
also, there are no other parts of the game, it's just updates of the same map. i just gave the versions a little name :tongue.gif:
and mario clash is a game for the virualboy gaming system...which never really caught on lol google some videos.
EDIT: oh! and what's this talk about TNT under boats?!? huh? i'll check door number 5 and fix the hole lol
EDIT 2: oh and just hold shift when you do corners like that. hold shift on the last laddder and walk toward the ladder on the perpendicular wall.
EDIT 3: and warp zone 1 is functional

When I first got the fishing pole out of the chest, I used it to hook one of the 3(?) boats sitting right there in the little dock. When I pulled the boat toward me, TNT exploded, muffled by the water so it didn't leave any destruction. I thought it was the actual fishing contest at first - a trick. Then I found the REAL fishing contest.
... right?
... or is it possible some animal stepped on a pressure plate somewhere and blew up tnt?
... or was I completely dreaming?

......what?!?! :huh.gif: i have no idea what you're talking about....other than the boat there is no TNT anywhere (only in SMB mini game that's a wip, and that's only 1, and it's very very very far away from where you are) so maybe you are dreaming. or maybe it was a creeper exploding somewhere. I usually just walk up behind the boats and give them a gentle push. then jump on as soon as they leave the current. I have no idea what happened to you.....herobrine?
EDIT: and there will be many more treats like that when i'm done....many many more. I still have a lot of paintings and textures to update :wink.gif: ....btw, the adventure update is going to push this map to a whole new level ::know on wood::
