I have a question. how do you plan on making your pause menu system? I am just curious because that would be really cool if you did that.
So its not really a button you press to activate it, but once you get the Ocarina, you can use it and you will be transported to a room that includes a Fast Travel system (doorways that unlock once you gain access to the region listed), the quest status screen automatically updates by reading your inventory and placing a copy of the items you have (including the collectible Boss drops that unlock the final area/dungeon) and a general information room (shows the various items you will encounter and tells you about them, what switches and levers look like and how to activate them and keep them activated, an enemy mob room where you can observe enemies that you will see in the game and gives a little information on each when you walk up to one) AND an option menu (used for sound testing to adjust your AC sound levels etc.).
Pictures and video will do my description more justice, but it probably won't happen till tonight or tomorrow night!

Oh ok that sounds really awesome it kind of reminds me of the pause menu in fable 3 and I really liked that. Now that I understand what you mean I really think this is a good idea.

Yes, I should have just said like in Fable 3 because that was one of the sources of inspiration for it.
AC was updated to r747 and that enables me to add sounds inside of previously existing scripts. Now when you use your sword to cut tall grass I can make it so that you get a sound for cutting the grass and a sound for picking up a rupee with a different sound for bombs/arrows/etc.
I may wait until I'm done with this to update the map. At this point I've added the following additional features:
32x custom texture pack and sprites
New Inventory/Chest screens
Water Tunic (underwater breathing)
Fire Tunic (can be in close proximity to lava. Will die if close to lava without it!)
Bomb Bags
Customized Drops (only rupees, hearts, and items that you need (arrows and bombs, but ONLY if you have the Quiver or Bomb Bag)
Cuttable Tall Grass
Shovel (dig on grass or dirt and find cool stuff!)
Check the OP for new pictures to show off the new textures

sounds good I just started scripting my fire tunic for my map but I just made it so if you enter a certain area without it on it counts down and when it reaches zero you die like in Oot. also do you have any idea about a release date yet?

well I keep adding stuff instead of polishing so it all depends on what you guys think. I'm changing the poll to ask you guys what you think should happen in terms of how much should be released (which decides the timing of it).
Also, everyone needs to go check the OP for new info if you want to stay updated.
You might wanna make it clear that the "Save file" is not the actual map, as my first test said. :tongue.gif:
Edit: The test map file can't render, so it crashes just before I can even see the map, and the save file spawns you in the wrong area. Help please?

which version of AC are you running? Have you used AC before?
Are you selecting "create new map" or are you using the save file?
The "Test Map" folder goes in your "maps" directory, and the "Save File" goes into the ".minecraft>saves" folder.
Can you be a bit more specific and maybe upload a screenshot? No one else (as far as I know) has had this error.
I can upload an easier to install file if it helps, but it won't be until a release is done.
EDIT: Actually, I'll be uploading a new version with the new textures and a few of the scripts (I don't think many of them will even be used this early into the map) tonight. It is unfair to show you guys the new textures and have you download the original x16 ones!
Latest version, I have used it since before r200.
I'm using the save file, but not in the way you mentioned.
The reason why I asked for help, was because of the crash.
If you want, I could post here the error code thing.
I guess it won't help, 'cos it's the first time I've seen it. :/
Anyway, thanks.
Edit: Didn't seem to help, so are you meant to start straight into the dungeon? If so, I was kinda expecting some sort of cutscene/intro/backstory at the start before we get into the action.

Ooh another AC veteran lol nice
You MUST use the save file in the way I mentioned for it to work. I released it with r720, so any other version may have some bugs. Try using r720 and see if it works.
The release tonight will feature r755, and I will include AC r755 with the release in order to ensure maximum compatibility. Post the error code and I'll find out whats going wrong. That would be helpful.
Either that or just wait until tonight when I release v.01.1 (second demo version with new textures etc.)
Sorry it isn't working!
EDIT: Yes you are meant to start there with no backstory (this was a dungeon demo with no backstory or dialogue)
v.01.1 will address this. I'll update the changelog with fixes/additional content added/etc.
Good news everyone! v.01.1 will be released tonight.
This means that you ought to check back here around 6:00pm to 12:00pm Mountain Time tonight to get your hands on v.01.1.
I'm currently testing for bugs and finalizing texture/sprite adjustments, the "pause menu" (the ocarina, unfortunately, won't be available until v.02 so you'll only be able to visit the pause menu when you start a new game), and am finalizing the hint system/overlays. I MAY add a map for the dungeon but it MAY NOT be ready by tonight. These changes will be logged so that you can keep track of them.
Won't it be nice to have a demo with some backstory/cutscenes AND the starting area all accessible???
EDIT: Still retexturing. I may not make it tonight but I probably will. Stay tuned.
Wont let me open the first chest
Edit-Sorry! I put the test map in first. So I didnt get a chance to get the saves and stuff downloaded its fixed and I really like it so far! Cant wait for more! ^.^
Ive changed my mind, the first dungeon is as good as it should be, (i lol at the pig in the boss room)
I dont know how textures your items will have, but, this page should help you: Here
Amazing use of textures man! but i have a question, Do you have a glitch with High res map (item), and do you manage to make the textures work, I mean? The animated water or lava worked fine?
Anyway, Good job, oh and check my released demo!
Oh, and im crazier, cus my map is 1536 x 1100...
Ok, thanks. Got the map online, gave it a whirl, only to be quickly stopped my a non-opening chest. I had to go into debug mode, and destroy the two door blocks on top to open it. A quick bug you may wanna fix. :biggrin.gif:

Thats huge! I guess we are both crazy!
What are you planning on doing with that large of an area?
Yeah, and so a few people have experienced the boss room bug (not nearly as cool and epic as it is supposed to be and spawners don't work.)
As for sprites I have basically found everything I need, but if there is better material elsewhere I will check it out and let you know how it goes.
Unfortunately, animated lava/water doesn't work with my textures. I've requested that HD support be added, seeing as how it wouldn't be very difficult. I think that I would rather have the larger textures sizes in lieu of animation. But still, both would be nice :/ Most high res textures are glitch free. Someone mentioned that they want to do a 'lets play' of my map and the video will feature the new textures so you can see for yourself.
I'll be sure to download your map out tonight! Your screenshots look awesome.

This only happened to me after I updated to r738. For some reason when I updated to a version compatible with 1.6.6 it ruined ALL treasure chests AND triggers.
However, r755 works perfectly and the issue shouldn't exist anymore. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Where was the non-opening chest? If you were using a r736-r738, then all of them should have been messed up.
I really wish I could have released v.01.1 last night, but I encountered a lot more bugs in the opening cutscenes and first quests than I remember existed. I hate updating AdventureCraft. Should be available tonight though.

the non opening chest was in the room that you get the boomerang. it was because the game still registered the triggerable door on top of it and so you can quickly fix this by just removing the blocks on top. however if you really wanted to be fancy instead of having the triggerable door appear over the chest while you fight the skeletons you could just store the chest in a storeage block and so the chest will appear after you kill the skeletons. this would save alot of trouble because even though the triggerable door is over the chest you can still open it through the triggerable door so it makes the door somewhat obsolete.

Thanks for the encouragement! Did you download the demo?? I still need feedback regarding difficulty (see the poll)

yes there is. The directory is AdventureCraft>.minecraft>saves. If you don't have this directory then you don't have AdventureCraft.
I didn't include AdventureCraft in the v.01 demo if that helps.
