These are my favorite survival maps! Just a question though, is inferno mines going to come out fully released or in open beta testing? If anyone could answer that'd be great! Keep on the good work Vechs!
Come on guys, he's not beeing as bad as some people. Inferno Mines will be released as a finished product (I think).
I dunno but it's easily my most expected map between Inferno Mines/BD3/SH13 and whatever else. Unfortunately it will probably not be done til after all those.
I'm guessing witches start throwing potions only if they see you, so one way of getting healing potions might be a fall trap that doesn't insta-kill them and that lets you attack their feet to kill them off?
I tried that pretty early on, but they heal themselves really fast when they get the chance.
Thus, this!
It requires one sticky piston and to get the most out of it you need a brewing stand - so it might not help Rosie with her witch problem if Vetches is still being stingy with the cobble. For the sheer awesomeness of the drops it's worth doing, though!
The only spot the witch can spawn is the tube, and the tube is long enough for the witch to fall out of the mob cap range for the spawner so that a decent amount can build up. You leave it closed and dark until its witch killing time, then you open it and close it so the witches fall and start getting crushed. They will start downing healing potions constantly to stay alive and you can kill them by hacking at their feet, get yourself healing potions for days. Just give them a second after the crushing starts so that they take enough damage to start healing themselves. If you have a fire aspect weapon or light them up with a flint and steel right as you start its even possible to get a fire resist potion, though very rare.
Very very important note: Upside down half slabs in the row under the crushing block are vital. They stop the witches from seeing you and throwing potions. If they toss even one in there every witch will aggro every other witch and as they can't actually kill each other the tube will become a constant explosion of poison, damage, and weakness potions. Hella hard to clean up. Something to watch out for, anyways

Please only+ me if I post something funny or informative.
@Witches: I haven't had that much experience with them. My suggestion would be to sprint up/hack at them until they dead.

In my opinion, witches were only added for Vechs to kill us, as I don't see another use for them.

About armor and stuffs, I like Hybran's idea of having armor enchantments more grouped. Also, I think armor would be more balanced if it had more purpose. Currently, it's just a rush to diamond Prot IV. Maybe if we made it so, say, each tier of armor gave it's wearer an effect like they had I of the Prot on each piece, with chain getting Proj, Iron getting Fire, and leather getting Blast. This would not give a Prot for diamond, and make each armor type more useful. Since this would make chain ( a rare and valuable armor) already weaken potions and arrows, letting you actually take it to battle and use it.
I agree that enchantments need to be more organized, but it's always useful to simply enchant books until you get a favorable enchant and then apply it to your armor without wasting it. Also, anyone know how to make a structure that resembles a surgical table? I'm making an adventure (not CTM) map that involves a hospitalish area.
Hey Vechz, I love your maps, even though I rarely beat one. I just started playing BD2 and want to say I think it starts off too easy. I generally have a really rough time starting on all these maps, and its really easy to get materials quick. Stone, Blocks, Coal, Food. All within ten minutes. I had a stack of iron and 16 diamonds within an hour. The ravines at the start are a little too giving. I can't say much as to later parts of the map as Im not there yet, but the start was a little too easy. At least add spawners to the caves at the start. Thanks! Pinseeker
Hey. Hey guys. Is it possible to make a redstone creation in MCEdit that inolves using a dropped item entity to keep the primed block version of tnt from exploding until the dropped item is despawned? I'm stockpiling ideas for a CTM map.

Minecraft combat system is broken, I agree, but it cannot just be left like that. My little proposals were to fix it and also give another option for map makers. But anyhow, about adventure maps. I actually like them a lot, maybe because I don't place too many blocks or break them in CTM anyways. What worries me about adventure maps is that people aren't making them as difficult as they should be. Most just think they are the "easy" mode of map making. But really, there could be CTMs that don't allow you to break or place blocks. We weren't able to do much of it in BDII, which is probably why a lot of people didn't like it. I personally did enjoy it, but I play CTMs for the difficulty, not for the fact that I am able to break blocks or not.
Bold: You are completely missing the point. . <---
And CTM is about flexibility in mapmaking. Not being able to place or break blocks would just make it "corridors where you have to hit things", but with blocks you have multiple strategies including actually lighting up, bombing things, walling off areas to give you time to do other areas, and lots more.

Make the redstone creation in MCEdit?
No. Make it in a test world or something.
And it's possible. Just do this:
Behind the crosshairs is an item.
The dispenser is to hook up to whatever you want to trigger the item.
You could set it up in a test world, press a button triggering the dispenser, close your MC, and save it as a schematic in MCEdit.
Instead of Poison Protection enchant I'd rather have an immunity potion, along with a bunch of other potions:
-Immunity: Decreases the level of all potion effects on you by its own level (eg. Weakness 3, Speed 2 would become Weakness 1, Speed "0" as long as a Immunity 2 pot is active, and you'd also be immune to Instant Damage/Health 2 until it wears off) Milk bucket into Awkward Potion.
-Shield: Automatically reflects all ghast projectiles and has a chance of blocking other projectiles. Cactus Green into Awkward Potion. Levels increase block chance by 20%
-Magnet: Items get sucked into your inv from furter away. Idk what into awkward pot
-Fire Aura: Ignite all mobs that come to you (fire stops when they ho away though) Fermented Sp. Eye in fire resiat
Persistance: Throqn at aob it won't despawn ever again. Used on items they will stay longer. Used on players their items will stay longer on the ground if they die while it lasts. Idk wjat into what
-Swift Swimming: guess Also affects flying (since that's basically swimming in the air). Golden Feather [Gold nuggets around feather] into speed potion.
-Randomize: Turns a mob in a random other mob. Chances of the new mob are: Farm animals 5 each, 8 for Zombie, Skele, creeper, 3 for squid, wither skele, witch, 2 for enderman. These are weights, not percentages. Pork (because pig randomizers) into awkward potions
-Pointless Potion: Diamond into Awkward potion. Is absolutely useless, buzlt there are rumors that it can sometimes put you into godmode, and even rare it can summon herobrine.

You just lost the game.

This. Do this Rosie.
This is the normal, sane, way to deal with witches - Only the Cake instinctively starts thinking about how to farm them. lol
Furries are cool.
This is kind of awesome.
Yeah, I've never even seen any naturally spawned in game. Though I've found plenty of which huts.

Technically exists.
....
i instictivly start thinking about how to farm CAVE SPIDERS.
deeeeerp
I think you'd still agree that's a decent amount of gold, and that no one would want to carry around so much in their inventory at one time.
