Care to elaborate? The only problem I see is if the player dies without the item and then somehow finds a way to get back and find the item again.
Solution: Either add the item itself to the inventory and not give any chests, or make sure the item falls in lava.
Of course, the map wouldn't be available to multiplayer. Or if it was, the players wouldn't get the "special" item.
His point (could be) that the player could have gone better off just restarting the map instead of playing further, which doesn't really benefit much when it comes to gameplay. Same thing goes for Vechs nightmare map with both the game over land and the house. But it's kinda different since it brings the game to a halt.
First off I apologize about audio quality, so I'll be awaiting the completely original (but well deserved I suppose) comments complaining about it :tongue.gif:. I wanted to bring to you my first experience in a custom RFTW map (this is is not made by Vechs, unfortunately the host of the map did not provide the download link).
I do get a bit overwhelmed at first but after awhile I get into the groove a bit. I'm a bit more quiet than usual as I'm EXTREMELY competitive and was trying to focus.
I hope you all enjoy either way and thank you so much for the support!!!

Black Desert in my opinion was Vechs' most brutal map. VM is difficult to find unless you actually set off that trap...and before Endermen I was like lolnope not going near there. Nightmare Realm, only died 4 times on hard...it's dangerous and you'll often find yourself racked for resources, but it's not that horrible in terms of sheer dying. In my opinion anyways.
I haven't replayed Black Desert in post 1.8 MC yet so my opinion of it is based on my original play through ( some months ago now ) . When I spotted that lying confection , I decided to let valour have a go , triggered and ran like a rabbit for what I though was a safe vantage . I tend to do that a lot . Only in Nightmare ( with those bloody snow pits ) did that become a dangerous recourse . Still , its all about strategy and how we approach our Super Hostile maps .

Personally I quit Nightmare. I got overwhelmed and annoyed. On Black Desert, when I saw the cake I actually thought Vech's was being nice. So I avoided it because I had enough health XD
BTW, idea.
The being a airblock
Just add cake or something on top. That way, they can place blocks on the other sand and think it's safe. When they trigger that sand, it fall on other sand causing update, so all sand falls. You could make this deeper to decrease chances of accidently triggering it to.

Eat cake, sand under cake falls, sand lands on more sand, which causes that sand to fall, which causes the rest of the sand to fall. It's a good trap, and the only things giving it away are the sand (every SH player should be wary of sand) and the random cake in the middle of nowhere.

I suppose so. Usually, whenever I play a survival map, Super Hostile, CTM or something of the sort; I get to the highest place I can to get a vantage point to get my bearings together and get a good view of the terrain around me. As you can expect,
This saved me my house on Nightmare Realm. Saw the weird Glowstone thing, glanced up, and oh hello dimly glowing hole in the bedrock ceiling. I made some wooden slabs out of the wood below and managed to save the house. I later turned the house into a house of Cobblestone slabs with the slabs you could get from the house off in the distance, and then just broke the thing holding the lava in and let that go down into the center of the house as a makeshift light source. Allowed me to get a fair amount of wood and torches. I really hated the bloody ribbons, so I kind of made it to Forestmen last. Thus I probably made the map more difficult than it needed to be...oh well. I'll stop rambling now O.o

You could have it be anything on top, as long as tehy'd want to udate it, like mining iron or stuff. You'd probably have this trap in a sandy desert area, otherwise everyone would think its a trap.

Strangely, I suspect gravel of more traps than sand. You could also McEdit a floor entirely of leaves with a cake on one, triggering the leaves to update and decay.

As I learned from Canopy Carnage, that works slowly. Plus if you play on Fancy you can see through them.

What could be fun there is if there are a pattern of wood blocks that provide a walkway of leaf blocks that won't decay when the initial trap is triggered . Oh , and it would need to be a huge area - kind of like Jep3's central great tree in his third map Colossal Caverns . I agree that setting the graphics to fancy would negate that . Perhaps a proviso in the opening read-me to play on fast graphics only .
Oh , and I'm still dealing with Nightmare - can't quite get into it though there are some areas I like , the constancy of dark is annoying . Even Black Desert had some patches of light to focus on .
Omg Vechs, I hate you. I hate you so much. I loaded up Legendary since my server is down, and now I want to throw my computer out the window. I want a creeper to come out of the screen and blow me, my computer, and this insane level to high heaven. And I know that as some sort of cosmic joke heaven will be The Infernal Sky. And when I try to jump off to end it all I'll just land in The Endless Deep or The Sunburn Islands (although that last one wouldn't be so terrible) but with my luck I'll build myself a house and feel like the afterlife ain't so bad then night will fall and it turns out the sea has turned to lava and diving in to end this torment will just send me to the Nightmare Realm. Somehow throw Kaizo Caverns, Black Desert, and Canopy Carnage in with all that and truly I have done great evils in my life to have deserved such a horrible punishment... Those great evils most likely getting my friends to play these maps... =D Awesome maps you detestable genius.
I have a question about Legendary. In the starbright cavern, in the chamber at the top of the pillar with a creeper/skelly mega spawner above, there is a chest. Now the way things turned out when playing I never got to open the chest. As soon as i got to the chamber a couple creepers dropped and i panicked and died a couple times on the frontal assault option. So i decided to dig in from the rear and disable the spawners. Once that was complete, i checked and found, in the place where the chest was, a big crater with no items in it and a single brick block being all remaining of the chamber. I just want to know if that was a wool chest or just a decoy/supply one. If it was a wool chest then can someone tell me what the color was so i can hack it in in some way? (I shut off the spawner and died a few times trying so i think I deserve it) Help would be much appreciated. (Awesome map BTW!)

You lost the Pink Wool. Your options are to accept defeat and restart, accept defeat and finish 18/19, or accept defeat and dye a wool. Sorry, Vechs' trap legitmately caught you out, you lost fair and square.
Welp, I gave up on canopy carnage, and now I'm doing the kaizo caverns(?), problem is, mo' creatures turns this map into a NIGHTMARE. I didn't get far because of it, but here's my experience (contains actual spoilers):
I read the signs and read me, and when I saw the lava I was like "simple enough" and saw the "it's dangerous to go alone" chest, pulled out the stick and almost cried. The chainmail made me feel better though.
I start jumping across and suddenly hear hissing next to me, luckily the green demon went back to whence it came... :wink.gif: And it was THEN I realized I had mo' creatures, because I got poisoned by a scorpion. I lived, but then a rat finished me off. I went back and found my stuff hadn't burned! I picked it up and continued the climb, when I hear an explosion from behind. A rat set off a TNT trap. It distracted me long enough for a werewolf to knock me into the lava.
You need to add Guude and BDoubleO to the Video post for Nightmare Realms! I bet they're are devestated that you have for gotten about them...
He doesn't even have ThomasWadeFraser up there, who was the first person to complete Nightmare Realm on YouTube (which is really ignorant, considering his videos use to be up there and aren't anymore.) He can't really add everyone, but he does seem to add the most popular YouTubers first and ignore the others.

Oh well, I think it's silly.

Technically exists.
That won't work, no other blocks will be updated.
