What is a Symcon?
The idea of this minecraft mod is that each item or block has symbols that relates to them. The goal is to use these symbols to unlock the ability to transform one item into another. In other words, this mod is based off of transmutation. “Of course it is Coop. Anyone can make a mod that changes dirt into diamonds easily!” Well, that’s where you’re wrong. This is an extremely complex and confusing mod, and in no way is it cheap, unless you actually use a mod that lets you craft dirt into diamonds. I got this idea from the particles that fly from a bookshelf into a crafting table. Now, each symbol/particle represents a letter. You can use the symbols that represent the letters D, I, A, M, O, N, and D to make yourself a diamond! Following so far? Good, because it gets worse from here. A symcon is a book that allows you to start your Symacist carrier. When right-clicked, it will tell you which symbol corresponds to which letter. Easy, right?
How to Play this Mod:
To start off, you’re going to need to make yourself 2 symcons. Get yourself familiar with this recipe; you’re going to need it often. You can craft a symcon like so:
Gold Ingot
Gold Ingot
Gold Ingot
Enchantment Table
Book
Enchantment Table
Diamond
Diamond
Diamond
Symcons are the essence of symbols. They contain information on the symbols, and when used in a crafting table, works like a bucket, meaning you can use the extra Symcon an infinite number of times to craft certain blocks or items. Then what you are going to need is a Symbol Absorber. This block absorbs symbols from nearby blocks and stores them inside its GUI. It is crafted like so:
Diamond
Diamond
Diamond
Block of Gold
Enchantment Table
Block of Gold
Block of Gold
Block of Gold
Block of Gold
After creating this block and placing it down, you can right click on it with a Symcon to get it to start working.INSERT GUI PICTURE HERE Now, once you first place it down, you will only be able to absorb symbols from bookshelves, meaning you will get the symbols B, O, O, K, S, H, E, L, and F for each bookshelf you place around it. Eventually, you can upgrade your Symbol Absorber, but we’ll get to that later. The tricky thing about absorbing symbols is that once all it’s symbols are absorbed, it becomes null, or “?.” Exp: In the case of a bookshelf being absorbed, once you absorb all of it’s symbols, it becomes “?????????.” We can later use these “?” symbols to our advantage. You can also use a Symbol Absorber to directly absorb all of the symbols from an item. In order to do so, simply place the item in the specified slot in the Symbol Absorber’s GUI, and it will absorb all the symbols from the item, but unfortunately, the item will be destroyed in the process. You can use this method to repair tools for free, once you get more advanced in your transmutation, that is. But for now, we need a better storage for our symbols. This is where a Symbol Chest comes into play. A symbol chest is a way to store an infinite number of symbols! The only problem is, they can only store one kind of symbol each. You can craft seven Symbol Chests like so:
Chest
Eye of Ender
Chest
Chest
Symcon
Chest
Chest
Chest
Chest
Symbol Chests will be extremely useful when you begin your transmutation. How Symbol Chests work is you can right click a Symbol Chest with a symbol to specify which symbol you want the Symbol Chest to hold. Afterwards, you can right click with the previously mentioned symbol to add it to the chest. You can also right click with an empty hand to get a symbol out of the chest. That’s all there is to it. Now there is just one more step before reaching the ability to transmute your symbols.
Advancing in your Symacist Carrier
In order to get your Symbol Infuser, you are going to need Z Symbols, which are the hardest symbols to come by. How you can get them is by adding a diamond next to a Y Symbol. To get Y Symbols, add a diamond next to an X Symbol. To get an X Symbol, add a… You get the idea. Here is the basis of the crafting. NOTICE: You cannot create an A symbol, except using an Alphabetical Totem, which we will get to later.
Symbol of Choice
Diamond
So once you get Z Symbols, you can finally start your transmutation process. In order to do so, you need a Symbol Infuser. To craft it, you need the following:
Z Symbol
Enchantment Table
Z Symbol
Gold Ingot
Gold Ingot
Gold Ingot
Diamond

Diamond
Now to begin your transmutation! Your going to need another Symcon for this, go ahead and make yourself another. Right-click on your Symbol Infuser with the Symcon, and it will start to work! Finally, all your hard work has paid off!INSERT GUI PICTURE HERE This will look extremely complicated at first, but don’t worry, you’ll understand once you start. The very top row of slots in this GUI is the Item/Block slots. What these do is allow you to absorb Items or Blocks’ symbols directly from them and use them in your transmutation. Any excess symbols will be released into the air, where they can either disappear, or explode. The second option is less likely. For example: If you are making a diamond, you need the symbols D, I, A, M, O, N, and D. You can get all of these symbols from a dirt, an apple, a bucket of milk, an iron ingot, and another dirt. The only problem is, it only takes one excess symbol to explode, and you will have a lot of excess symbols from this method. Actually, if you use this method, you will have R, T, T, P, P, L, L, E, I, I, I, and K leftover. Each has a 10% chance to explode. Furthermore, the Item/Block you put in the slot will be destroyed after you do so, and so this method is not recommended. The symbol absorber can be upgraded, however, and by doing so lowers the chance of explosion to nothing. We will get to that later. The other method is to use the second and third rows, which is what you should really use. The second and third rows are used with symbols, and in order to do so, you need to spell out the word of the item in the rows previously mentioned, and POOF!!! You have the item you spelt. For example, if you take the symbols (in this order) G, O, L, D, I, N, G, O, and T, and put them into the GUI in that order, you will get yourself a Gold Ingot as the result. Congrats! You are now beginning to transmute symbols! Now, onto the generation of symbols, using a block called an Alphabetical Totem. To create it, place one of every symbol inside of your Symbol Infuser, like so:INSERT ALPHABETICAL TOTEM CRAFTING PICTURE HERE What this block will do is generate a random symbol every 5 seconds, and put it into either a respective Symbol Chest or Symbol Absorber, though if there is a Symbol Chest nearby and a Symbol Absorber, the generated symbol will go into the Symbol Chest instead of the Symbol Absorber. This process is infinite, but you need yet another Symcon, so go ahead and make another one of those, and place it on the Alphabetical Totem by right clicking on it with the Symcon in hand. You can also have your Alphabetical Totem generate a certain symbol instead of a random one by right clicking on the Alphabetical Totem with the symbol you would like to generate. It is recommended for professionals to have one Alphabetical Totem per symbol.
Upgrading your Symbol Absorbers
Now, to the fun stuff! Although generating diamonds for free is pretty cool, it’s still going to get better. You can upgrade your Symbol Absorbers and Symbol Infusers so that you can transmute easier, more efficiently, and safer. For now, lets look at the Symbol Absorber upgrades. To start out, you are going to want to make yourself a “.” Upgrade, like so:
Gold Ingot
Gold Ingot
Gold Ingot
Diamond
Symcon
Diamond
Obsidian
Obsidian
Obsidian
You can use this in a Symbol Absorber to allow for the absorption of blocks made from ores, meaning that Blocks of Gold, Blocks of Diamond, Blocks of Iron, Blocks of Coal, Blocks of Redstone, and Blocks of Lapis can be absorbed and have their symbols be put into the Symbol Absorber’s GUI. You can take this a step further by using a “!” Upgrade, which is crafted like so:
Diamond
Gold Ingot
Diamond
. Upgrade
. Upgrade
. Upgrade
Obsidian
Symcon
Obsidian
By adding this into your Symbol Absorber, you can absorb the symbols from any block in your world! So now, you can absorb the symbols from, lets say, dirt, and you will receive D, I, R, and T symbols. At this stage, you still transform blocks into their “null” or “?” forms. But, with the “?” upgrade, you can finally put these null blocks to good use! To create a “?” Upgrade, you are going to need the following:
Diamond
Gold Ingot
Diamond
! Upgrade
! Upgrade
! Upgrade
Obsidian
Symcon
Obsidian
When this is added to your Symbol Absorber, things get serious. You can absorb any null blocks nearby, each “?” giving you a random symbol. The price is, however, the block will become fully absorbed, and destroy itself. This is the final upgrade for the Symbol Absorber. Now, to learn how to upgrade a Symbol Infuser.
Upgrading your Symbol Infuser
The Symbol Absorber upgrades are used for the Symbol Infuser. If you want to know how to craft the upgrades, look at the previous topic. As you venture on your journey as a Symacist, you will realize that having the ability to change some random items into diamonds without the dangers of explosions would be extremely useful. To do so, you will have to create a “~” Upgrade, which is made like so:
Z Symbol
Z Symbol
Z Symbol
Diamond
Symcon
Diamond
? Upgrade
? Upgrade
? Upgrade
When the ~ Upgrade is put into a Symbol Infuser, it will have a 0% chance to explode when using the ability to turn items/blocks into other items/blocks.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Symcon Mod
I am still getting ideas for this mod; if you have an idea, post it in the comments! I’ll update the forum page when I can.
Will do. As soon as I get the textures, and begin to code, I will post pictures.
