Me thinks this mod is awesome. Would love to see it grow. A video tutorial of how to set up everything would be priceless for people to truly experience the mod, IMO.

Best experience you can get, while playing it. You can try kubach.tk server with it's own build. The only issue you should keep in mind, that you should chage in launcher default "login.pass" to any [login.pass] you want (better not use your official)

On another note, have you considered implementing the single player compatibility? This should definitely increase the popularity of the mod. Besides, some people would want to test the mod in single player before adding it to their servers.

Sure. It does work, sort of--the asteroids/planets won't generate (minecraft crashes when they try to) and hyperspace does not seem to work. Otherwise you can still jump around just fine. It was just an idea. I can see the point of it being SMP-oriented.
Btw, if the authors are open to suggestions of how the mod can be developed, i.e., what can be added to the mod, you might want to mention that in the OP (or add a short survey of some sort). Lively discussions are practically what fora are for.

On site of mod's server you will find a link to /mc/ thread on the one of the most popular russian boards, where active discussion of real mod players about all the things takes place. If you will look closely, you will find that really good and implementable ideas coming into life time after time.

Well. In theory we can take all good mods and make an ultimate combine. But in reality, kubach.tk can handle reasonably high quantity of players only because it running on powerful and expencive hardware. If we proceed to put new mods, someday even those servers will giveup.
During the long way, this mod mantainers and developers collected lot of experience, wich shows that we need carefuly choose mods for integration, and even wipe-out some mods, by replacing with own, and only nessesary popular fuctionality. For example we have replacement for IC2 miners, because they are very uneffective by CPU time. It's laser miners, wich are more effective, and also very flexible, since they controlled by CC, as a peripheral. And you can create a program, that can control your mining ship from a large touchscreen:

this mod is sick i would love a download even if it is wip
Prefer to call it WIP, but it is playable with average quantity of more than 20 players every day on mod's homeserver. So it is kind of stable, but have some bugs, for sure, and continiously developing.
If you have a lag that does not mean that all the lag and bugs there I had not noticed.
If you will try to run server with good quantity of players, you will notice. You will be rady to kill all the humans to be sure, that you server will be able to handle all available(left) players.
Couple of months ago there was also BC on kubach.tk and it was a nightmare with lags, bugs, ruined chunks, because of BC blocks, that accidentially turned in piece of crashing scheiße. Not funny at all.

BC is baggy and laggy mod, frankly speaking. Maybe you better look at IC2+WarpDrive+AE, since they together replaces almost all features of BC.
