Forge isn't compatible with modloader, which is my main problem. I've tried downloader modloader and forge together but it usually crashes my minecraft. I dragged and dropped the files from the mod into my jar folder but it still doesn't seem to show up in minecraft. (Also i am using a mac computer, if that changes anything.)
Its best if you put the folder inside the compressed folder in your mods folder like all other mods. to install this mod you SHOULD NOT need to change the jar file except for installing modloader. (forge should work with but i haven't tested it so it may not )

it used to be you needed modloader to install forge has that changed? (mac shouldn't matter)
Yes it did change. Now forge has the same feature that lets you put in mods easily like modloader, so if you try to download both of them it crashes your minecraft.. :s Now its actually really confusing to download mods, since some mods say that they require modloader and since i don't have it i try to put it in manually which sometimes crashes MC It's all just really confusing... i think my only option is too just start with a fresh jar file and instead of downloading forge i'll download modloader. I'll try that and see if it works now.
Refreshed entire minecraft folder, downloaded the latest version of Risugami's modloader, and put the angler fish file in the mods folder and it finally worked! my only problem now is that my mac keeps overheating when i play minecraft (even when i have optifine installed...) there is little to none lag on my minecraft, its just the computer overheats like crazy...i have no idea what to do OTL
Besides that, the angler fish look really good! I think a way you could improve it is if it lights up the space around it, almost like a torch. (But as i've said before, if anything i suggest doesn't seem interesting/do-able to you than feel more then free to ignore it :>)

I've had the problem before I had to put everything down lower I was using vanilla minecraft. I run it with:
render distance - normal
graphics - fast
particles - decreased
performance - power saver
advanced opengl - on
my computer doesnt overheat anymore everything else doesn't matter much.

I have my minecraft video settings on the lowest it can get, but it still overheats The most strange part is my mac isn't even very old, i've only had it for a couple of months and i haven't downloaded really any type of game program except for minecraft.
well I don't know if its too new the glue of the cooling fan may not have set but I'm not sure if that would be a problem. Is it a desktop or laptop? although if you have it set to lowest settings I guess it wouldn't matter much anyway. I tried, sorry I couldn't be of much help.
It's a laptop, and don't worry, it doesn't get so overheated that it may damage anything so i think i'll just learn to deal with it for now thanks for your help anyways.
i can't program to save my life, but i know a heck of a lot about the deap sea! i'd be happy to give idea's, feedback, etc. here's a few beasts i've got in my head, a few underwater locations, some equipment, and some more "out there" stuff
gulper eel
giant squid
viperfish
oarfish
hatchetfish
shipwreck
trench
brine pool
underwater base
submarine wreck
hydrothermal vents/chimney smokers
sunken city
oxygen tank
dive suit (modern and 1880's model)
atmospheric diving suit (the thing that looks like a suit of armor made of plastic)
harpoon gun
sea monsters/giant sea creatures
being eaten by the above and having to hack your way out before dying
great old ones (I.E., Cthulu. they WERE imprissoned beneath the sea in H.P. Lovecraft's stories, so.... why not?)
underwater people
prehistoric creatures (megalodon, plesisour, the like)
Hey everyone, Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been a little busy with some things, but hopefully I should be able to finish the goblin shark soon.
Edit: I'm going to be very busy for a couple of days. So I probably won't get it done until December. I'll try to update the mod sometime soon though.

That would ruin the angler's element of surprise, because the little fishies it wants to eat think it's an innocent little light, but if it lit up around it, the fishies would see its teeth, and swim away. By the way, if you're looking for new deep sea mobs: gulper eels, vampire squids, giant squids, flashlight fish, viper fish, and jellyfish. All of them except the giant squids, vampire squids, and gulper eels glows, and the vampire squid shoots glowing red ink
peace out fish lovers ><>
Hey,
I hope you haven't lost any hope since I've been fairly quiet recently, but I've been very busy lately. I believe now I have some time to get back to work with the mod. I've started updating the mod, and I should be finished with that fairly quickly if I don't get distracted.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback and suggestions, I will definitely consider these as i'm creating my mod.
I have finally updated the mod for 1.4.6. This update includes the goblin shark that I've been working on. I have to admit. Its not that great right now. It has no glowing parts, I'm thinking of making the eyes glow, but this depends on what everyone wants.
I hope you like it, and sorry it took so long.
EDIT: Alright, next up is something large, not too large because I don't think minecraft can handle it. I think i'm going to go with either an ocean sun fish or some prehistoric creature. Tell me what you think.

YES! Oarfish are awesome! Don't forget the Giant Siphonophore and Lancetfish!

Prehistoric eh? How about a coelacanth? Or maybe an anomalocarus?
The harsh reality is that it takes a bitter, heartless leader and an army of blind, deceived yet devoted soldiers to win a war. Empathy makes a good leader, but it is also a weakness easily exploited

Please say you are still working on this!
