We are not getting anywhere... I need a few people to find a coder! The group will be credited in the finished Product. Unfortunately The creator of CCTV has not responded yet. Utter chaos >_<
Yikes! Have you tried posting this mod in the Mod requests section? Maybe link it back here?
You should have a way to hook two mirrors up to each other. That way they each show what the other mirror sees.
Then you should make the mirrors like portals.
You go in one mirror and come out the other one, the one that you can see.
Mobs should be able to go through too.
Unless you make a special one that kills mobs trying to get through.
And the mirrors should allow light and fire to come through.
More than one mirror can be attuned to another mirror.
That way, you can have one torch in front of one Gateway Mirror, and have a whole bunch of mirrors hooked up to it, transmitting it's light all over.
It should be a mirror ( ) encased in gold ( ) and some redstone ( :RFlower:) With one obsidian ( )
It should have tuning device.
You right click on it and a GUI comes up that has Ones Tens Hundreds
Along with subtracting numbers corresponding to the already shown numbers.
When a mirror's number matches with another mirror's number, it will connect to it.
Again, MORE THAN ONE MIRROR CAN CONNECT TO ONE MIRROR!
Please implement this. I think it would be extremely cool to have a wall of mirrors leading to your secret house somewhere inside of a cave, and you can't get there any place else.
Cool, huh?

Unfortunately, this idea isn't as easy as you may be making it out to be. Not only do you have to create a "CCTV" screen where both the "screen" and "camera" have the same location, but you would also need to have the angle of the "camera" be a reflection of the angle at which the player is viewing the mirror, otherwise it would just look like a TV screen unless viewed straight-on.
And then if you're dealing with multiplayer you might have to write some silly code to make sure this is all performed clientside as you'd have multiple viewers of the same mirror, each with a different view of it.
love the idea, one problem...
the image will be one of looking straight forward. unless you can get the CCTV to face the opposite angle on a 180 degree perspective, E.G the angle of reflection = angle of incidence.

What we are basically doing is putting a CCTV, with the Display also being the Camera! It is that simple!
I may be able to help with basic stuff in coding.
I have experience with java. (Used to code android apps in Java.)
But, the developer account for android app store I used closed. (It had been a year since my last payment.)

Looking through a mirror is like looking through glass, only the mirror shows what is infront of it and (like glass) adjusts depending on the way a player looks at it.
So...
Is basically what I'm getting at.
I'm surprised that it's this easy, but from what I can see, you could just take how...
ah...
I see how...
never mind, if any of you thinks this will work, try it.
From what I can see, it won't work because...
I had it on the tip of my claws...
Something... ARGH!!!
STUPID FREAKING HORRIBLY INADEQUATE MEMORY!!! ARGH!!!!
Oh - another way this could work: create zero-space inside of the mirror and simulate everything inside of the mirror's special dimension (the dimension wouldn't take up space, like a Portal infinite box thing.
Basically, it would track everything not blocked by a block or screwed over by render, and simulate it on the other 'side' of the mirror. It works because it is a 'fake' space that doesn't exists but for that display. And, if you treat the mirror as a window, it'll work with angles too!
If you have questions, post them here.

It's not that simple. TheGrayGoo just explained it to you perfectly but you fail to understand T-T
I have a friend right now who's working on his own graphics engine, and he's just now getting to reflections. This is a guy who has written his own engine, from scratch, with bump mapping, normal mapping, dynamic shadows etc. And even to him reflections are no cakewalk.
In fact you even fail to describe what would happen in the case that you have two mirrors placed side by side. If you're just doing "a cctv camera where the output is the same as the input" then the two mirrors would only look like two screens. They would not look or behave like mirrors at all.
YOU DO NOT NEED REFLECTIONS!!!!!
You just need to simulate anti-space(?) in which all actions taken by players and mobs are portrayed by the 'mirror' inside of it's space.
The space inside the mirror does not take up any real space because it is simulated.
Reflections are for suckers.

Technically, this mod is done. It only needs a slight little edit.
When will it be available for download? :tongue.gif:

No, Unfortunately. This idea is available for takes though.
