Make them config options, solves everyone's problems. (Except the developers who now have to make the options).
Java's static variables are functionally equivalent to global ones.
That's a good point. Ore rarity is another one - they were made a lot more common sometime during 4th or 5th gen terrain. (in 1.1.2_01, mining for iron with iron pickaxes would actually make you lose iron)
Soon, one of the old programmers is still relatively active, so I'm having him put together part of the Release 1.0.0 generator.
Lapis Lazuli doesn't appear in generators before Beta 1.7.3.
(The bold sentences are what I typed in.)
Level mode: creative
Generator: classic
Texture pack: about the oldest

Old minecraft, with all the blocks i always wanted then and there!
PLEASE MAKE THIS FOR 1.1.0 PLEASE
EDIT: Fixed it, my other mods were causing it to crash
It won't be too bad. There might be a few bugs with ocelot spawning, but other than that it'll be just another update.
Also, I got 100 errors in my first recompiling attempt, all in World.java. I looked at the code and I have no clue what the hell MCP is complaining about, since the coding looks just fine.
Will classic/indev terrain ever be include? I just thought seeing the old terrain in the latest release with all the ores and smooth lighting would be pretty cool since I used to play classic a lot and it would bring back good ol' memories :tongue.gif:
Potentially. Indev terrain was never meant to be infinite, so we'll have to get around that somehow.
But since you asked nicely (Unlike people that are demanding we update), I'll see what I can do next time I pop open the hood known as MCP. (Also, there is no MCP version for Indev, so that's gonna make life a pain in terms of coding.)
We're the original mod, the Nostalgia Project is the cheap copy-cat that has WAY too many buttons. :tongue.gif: /kidding
All joking aside, it's your call.
And then Notch standardized the terrain generation coding, thereby making a mod like this feasible!
...
And because I'm such a big fan of giving people status reports, just to let you all know:
I have yet to hear back from the original coder, therefore I shall see what I can do about taking a look at 1.1's vanilla World.java to see if there are any changes in the coding that caused the 100 errors in the first attempt at recompilation tomorrow/today, depending on what your definition of "today" is. :tongue.gif:
Edit: This is kind of related to this mod in the sense of talking about terrain generation, but I just took a look at Minecraft for the XBox 360 (seen here) and the images depict that the XBox version of Minecraft will feature 1.6-1.7 terrain generation and lighting! As a person that bought Minecraft during the last few weeks/months prior to Beta 1.6 coming out, all I can say is this: WOOHOO!!!! I miss this old terrain, and frankly, this is a dream come true!
The generator is working and so is the grass colors and foliage colors, but biome specific features like snow and lack of rain still need work, as do mob spawning and structures. Hopefully it shouldn't take too long, that is unless I run into a wall somewhere.
So far this seems to be possible with very few changes to the base classes, which is nice for compatibility.
I have no plans on porting the other generators though, so that's up to the other modders.
o_O... Who the... Who are you, an exact duplicate of me or something, only more productive? (No offense, I'm just asking out of curiosity.)
EDIT: nvm it doesnt, btw AMAZING job i always loved alpha gen and the new stuff was beginning to look the same every time :tongue.gif:
Haha, no I'm not offended, if anything I'm flattered. Some productivity though, just as you said that I was going to bed. :tongue.gif:
I've wanted to do this for quite some time now, the new generator is just too depressing (I miss building on rainforest mountains). Just didn't think it was doable until I saw this thread.
Be patient, mods don't write themselves you know. My mod will probably be done sometime today (GMT+1, that is), but that only has the 1.7.3 generator. If you're waiting for older generators then I can't help you.
I might take on the job of porting the others also, since this is taking much less time than I expected, but don't count on it.
EDIT: Rain is working, but snow kind of isn't. It appears in the right biomes, but a bit from the edge. This seems to be because minecraft now uses temperature to determine whether to snow, rather than simply using a "should there be snow here" flag like it did before.
EDIT 2: Snow is working, but it's a hack so I need to check that it doesn't conflict with anything.
EDIT 3: No conflicts with the snow. Structures and spawning are the only things left to implement now I think. Oh and a way to actually select the generator of course.
Hm, the main reason I want this mod is for the 1.7 generator..... alright im going with you for now untill Elusivehawk updates this.
torture you with the pain of waitingshow what I've got so far:No mob spawning or structures yet but I'm working on it. Also, tree placement is a little different in some chunks.
EDIT: Structures are spawning, although the testificates are not very picky when it comes to choosing a place to put their villages. :tongue.gif: I should probably fix this, that is unless you guys actually prefer them spawning everywhere:
EDIT 2: Mob spawning is working. I think I'm actually done now, at least enough to release a beta. Just need to make the generator selectable as a world type.
Will there be Atlantises too? :tongue.gif:
Again, who is this guy?
...Who are you and can I use your work in the beta version of this mod?
Also, a little help with MCP crying over vanilla coding would be nice. :biggrin.gif:
Edit: Also, could you give me some screenshots of this seed?: 676757552848291377
(Just the area nearby the spawn point would be nice, like the twin peaks towards your right. Also, do you spawn in front of a big tree with said seed? Just outta curiosity, of course.)
Oh, and an explanation as to who you are wouldn't hurt. :biggrin.gif:
...
*sigh* *tries something to get this mod working*
Edit2: Apparently replacing the World.java file with the vanilla actually fixed the 100 errors I had before, until I tried to fix the 3 errors that came after that.
