I can see the use of this. Some people won't be updating right away to 1.8 when it's released for various reasons. Give the guy at least a little credit here.
I can't even tell whether or not you're just being sarcastic, but that's the (estimated) release date for the full, and final (there'll still be updates though) version of MineCraft, which obviously isn't 1.8/1.9.

On-topic: Even though I prefer waiting for the update, this still seems like a good mod (and effort) despite the fact that not everything's in it.
Guys, you do realize that he has a life. A.K.A school. He still codes a bit there though, and he will be able to start coding again in about half an hour to an hour. Give him a break, he is planning on doing as much as he can before 1.8 comes out. To the people saying there is no point, I agree with one of the guys above. Knowing notch, the update will come out later than expected.
For the second time, HE TRIED TO GET THE HUGE MUSHROOMS TO GENERATE DIFFERENTLY AND IT DIDN'T WORK. Now please shut up about that. Also, don't come into a post just to criticize.

This is a rather nice mod, I could see when 8 does come out this being expanded on to include more things.
The new items in 1.8 do not interest me anywhere near as much as the stuff I mentioned.
