Hi, Minecraft. I'm looking to make a bold, new mod for MC in Modloader. It would be a Nativity Mod with three statues:
* a statue of Joseph standing and praying
* a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary kneeling
* a manger with a model of the Child Jesus in it
I've got the models for Joseph and Jesus done in Techne. But my question is, how do I add them into the game? Do I treat them like a block, or like a mob? I am using ModLoader, so I will be using custom texture files. But how do I also export my model files to java and into Minecraft?
This is important to me, as I would also like, in the future, to make other custom-shaped non-mob blocks like statues, sideways-opening boxes (like a cupboard), and table-placeable books, and cups and plates that can have food and liquid visibly put onto/into them.
The modelling is easy enough. But how do I code a non-cuboid non-mob "block" entity?

You would probably be better off making it a mob that cannot move and that is spawned when a certain item is placed down. This would also allow for the statues to "Break" and drop certain things like pieces. It would also allow you to improve the statues to do certain things that mobs can do but blocks cannot.
Are there any examples of such a thing I could base my work on?

You would just make a normal mob, however, you would return "null" on all the AI's.
