OK, I'm combining two questions in one post to keep everything compact the first is does anybody know how to add armor without editing any base classes don't say it is impossible because i have seen it done before. The second question is how do add a new brewwing recipe it would be fine to link to a tutorial if you happen to know of one by the way i plan on using only modloader and not using forge

Just a forewarning, you can make armor using ModLoader without editing base classes but it won't be enchantable. If you don't care, then continue on searching for someone to help you. Good Luck
P.S. Also, tools with ModLoader aren't enchantable either. This is why many people use Forge for its unbelievably helpful EnumHelper class that allows you to add new enumerations to the EnumArmorMaterial and EnumToolMaterial.javas without editing baseclasses. ItemArmor requires a parameter of EnumArmorMaterial and ItemTool requires a parameter of EnumToolMaterial. This means you have to create your own ItemArmor and ItemTool, but Enchantments work by checking to see if the Item is an instance of ItemTool or ItemArmor, which is why enchanting won't work with Any armor without editing the Base Enum's or using Forge's EnumHelper.java.
ok first you should learn java go to the newboston on youtube and learn some java, then come back and i will help you
Read Java books. Don't use videos, you will learn more with videos and it's better than copying out what you see on screen and listening to what he says.
With learning from books you can't use something until you fully understand it. With videos you don't need to fully understand it, you just need minimal knowledge on what it does.
Never said you weren't. I was simply saying to demonicjoker that you should not learn from videos made my students in programming but books from professionals in programming.
ok i'm sorry if i insulted you i'm sure you know java heres the thing though, if you are using modloader then i cant help you if you are using forge then sure i can help you . i used to use modloader now i use forge, so if you use forge i can help.
also that is an opinion. i own several java books and check them out all of the time but from my own personal experience i can learn the same exact things from videos online as i do from a book. most people who "want to learn java" will try and then get bored and fail at it. so if you go and watch some videos you will understand what you are getting into.
also if you want me to help you with your forge send me your mod_file and the armor file (just one)
and i will show you what you are missing.
