Here's the recipe section of my mod_XXXX file. It's that first one that won't behave! Cocoons drop from where they should, and the other recipe works perfectly, but when I put the Cocoon in the crafting box, it refuses to craft into the 4 string/t doesn't give errors upon recompiling, or upon starting up Minecraft. It's acting like it's working fine!
Does this have to do with the fact that I'm using a mod-based item to make a vanilla one? That's the only thing different about the two...
Remove mod_Silkworm. from the line. It shouldn't make a difference, but if you've tried everything else, how much harm could it do?
ModLoader.AddRecipe(new ItemStack(Item.silk, 4), new Object[]{ "#", Character.valueOf('#'), Cocoon});

Where are you putting the recipes? without Mr Crayfish's suggestion.

Try putting it in public void load(). That is meant to be the new mod_ class constructor now.

Oh, derp, almost midnight and apparently I've forgotten how to READ.
And it works PERFECTLY now! Thank you so very much; if I could give you a million reps I would!
Now my mini-mod is complete as far as the technical side. The rest is cosmetic! (Babies that are small and big-headed, animations instead of just hopping and sliding, etc) Yaaay you have just made my NIGHT, TechGuy!

I would suggest to retype it again.
I've tried that, thinking that I had just put in an extra space, no such luck
Mr Crayfish, I'll try that once I get home; sadly I gotta go to stupid work right now.

No, FOUR string makes Wool. It hasn't been 9 for AGES. Check it out:

That's why I picked it. And crazy enough, the 9 String = Web is the recipe that IS working!

I tried both of these, and a combo of both (Mr. Crayfish's code, minus the mod_Silkworm bit) and neither changed a thing. Anyone else have any ideas?

In my mod_Silkworm file. That's where the other working recipe is, after all.
Here it is, in full:
The worst bit is, I know it's probably something obvious I'm missing.

So public void MakeRecipes() instead?
In the load() method.

Or just do this instead
Yeh, it'll do the same thing anyway.

Yeah, I know. Just organized more.
