v0.0.116: Added fully customizable ore configuation, you choose if you want the on or off, the vein size, and at what height it spawns at!
v0.0.115 Added compact torches! Store 256 torches in one inventory slot!
v0.1.114: Added a config file so you can change worldgen to your liking, as well as added worldgen to the gems I added in the mod!
v0.1.113: Smelting recipes for ores, added some various items, added bronze but I am a derp and forgot to make a crafting recipe for it, and finally added a flower to collect rubber from but I am having some issues with the texture.
**The Logs in the recipe are oreDictionary so they are interchangeable with any log in the game**
Currently I have added your basic ores (e.g. copper, tin, silver, lead, & nickel (ferrous)) I have plans to add more. All of the ores are added to the ore dictionary so any mod that adds machines and pulls ores from the ore dictionary will automatically be compatible (tested with IC2 currently).
World gen has not currently been implemented, but will be very soon. Some other future plans are to add materials such as rubber and other common materials used. Worldgen and rubber has been added
Please let me know of what you think of the mod so far, and any features that you think I should implement!
will this disable other mods ore worldgen?
if not, then this mod is totally useless and will even add more of already existing ore.
that's why I hope this mod remove other ores
You are able to turn them off in the other mods configs already it doesn't need to.
Good mod, tried to make something like this myself once. But a ore mod isn't a ore mod without ores generating. If you add me on Skype(my username is Endermod) I can make some textures for you and maybe help with coding. Yes, I have experience with texturing but not much with coding.
If you could do texturing that would be so cool! I I think I have most of the coding taken care of, I am working on work gen right now so that should be taken care of in the next build

I cannot (as far as I know) turn off world generation for other mods. That would be up to the end user to change their individual configs. That being said maybe in the future I could bundle the mod with pre configured configs (I would have to look into this as I am not sure if you are allow to redistribute configs).
Great news!
I have updated to build number 112 (I started the build counter at 100...whoops :P), this includes worldgeneration (yay! Tested and have confirmed that all ores properly generates. Worldgen is currently rich, this will likely be tuned more down the road.) & I fixed a small bug with the registration of an item in the oredictionary. Updated the download link, Enjoy!
I think that you should try and keep this ore mod fairly simple and try not to go the way of a lot of the other ore mods have gone. Just a few macheins to get other forms of the ore such as
A pulverizer or something to turn the ore into dust.
An ore doubler. take the ore, inget, or some other form of the ore and place it in a machein and get two for one.
There should be ways of combining some ores together to make new metals. I kind of like how mettalurgy combines ore dust to make a new metal compound. it is simple and quick.
Things that should be added are.
an inget for every ore
a dust for every ore
a nuget for every ore
a chunck for every ore
a rod (stick) for every ore
There should be tools(full sets and partal sets) for most of the ore and metals but not all.
armor and weapons for only some of the ores and metals.
when it comes to things beyond this try to think of what, how, where, and when, these metals are used and made in real life and use that as a basses.

I am not a coder or texture maker. I am just your average minecrafter with my own ideas on how to improve my own minecraft experience and maybe others (if they like them) as well.

I think I get what you are say, but I don't think you understand this mod. This just adds ores to the game so that you do not have say 3 different types of copper in the game and 4 types of tin and so on. The mod uses the ore dictionary, therefore it is automatically compatible with all machines that use the ore dictionary. In the future I will add standard 1:1 ore smelting recipes because that will be needed if you are just starting out a world I do not need to take care of nuggets and "pulverized" and "macerated" versions of the ores. That is done with the third party mods that process the ores.
On another note I really like your idea about combining ores and ingots to get other metals, I assume something like bronze? Please look for this in future versions!
Will this mod force crafting and smelting recipes to all produce the standardized ingot? For example, I'm having an issue where the TiCon smeltery ingot cast makes IC2 ingots, but the casting basin makes blocks that are uncrafted into Thermal Expansion ingots. Would this mod solve that problem?

That is a very good question, right now no. In the future, maybe. I think that is just the way the mods interact with one another.

Will add a README.MD the next version with a proper changelog for your viewing pleasure.
To be fixed in the next version: World generation for gems (how did I forget that?!) & regular ore generation will be turn down (In the future there will be a config to change these number! )
To be changed in future versions: Textures (Please, you are welcome to submit textures if you would like!)
To likely never be added: Machines (This mod should be paired with another mod for ore doubling.) & Tools (I feel as if though this will take away from the mod, and also I feel like there are too many tool based mods on here already )
If you have an idea for an item or block to add tell me! Thanks for your support!
just to point out: there is literally no point for having this mod, simply because if you had a bunch of mod ores and didn't want to have all of them generate, then you would disable certain ones, so that only one of each type of ore would generate. with this mod, you have to do the exact same thing. you need to disable the ores generating from other mods. also, if you install this mod, but do not have a different mod that uses a particular ore, then having that ore is 100% useless beyond decoration. so, out of curiousity, do you actually have a reason for creating this mod? it's not like other mods don't use the forge ore dictionary (afaik every single one that is popular does), so having this mod simply creates more ores. not less.

Freakin' useful mod (I only use it for SSP!)
I like to play FTB with some additions. Also custom modsets are awesome!

Thanks for your input, its people like you that make me want to make the mod better for everyone, but do you realize that you just said the something over again to make it look like you wrote a lot? Well I noticed.
I see the point that you are trying to move across. Yes if you only have mods that have ores installed it just kind of doubles them all, but who only plays with like three mods at a time? If you do, this mod is not targeted for you, it is really for mod packs where there are multiple mods that add the same ores. You disable their ores in each mods config and then let my mod rip it and takes care of the rest.
As for me adding ores that you may not use in your mod pack, too bad. Don't mine them, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you should suggest that I add ore toggling in the config if you think that would be a good idea.
To review:
1. Please don't repeat yourself to make it seem like you wrote a lot.
2. The mod is targeted for med / large mod packs. Not something that only has a few mods.
3. Please don't sarcastically tell me what I should do with /MY/ mod. If you have a suggestion, suggest it, I would be more than happy to take it into consideration
This isn't a bad idea but it has been done a few times in the past. If you expect it to be adopted as a "go-to" it needs to be done very-very well. The config options that I include for my mod has max and min y-level, as well as vein size and vein frequency (based off of cofh core) Cofh core is updating to 1.7 and implements this idea in a very well-done manner.
Also, don't disable other mod's generation, any worthwhile mod has configs for that.

I would like comments (good or bad) to help me adjust my ideas so that hopefully some one will help me bring them to life.
If you like my Ideas check out my others at http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/2177041-request-looking-for-modders/
I have not used Skype in a while, would you happen to have an iMessage? If not I will download Skype again, my username is trisam10.

Oh okay sorry, I'll add you on skype when I get home. Can you have maybe a sample of what the ores and ingots might look like?
I think 16x should be fine I know some people that get mad when mods include higher resolution textures by default.
