Don't worry that is false. Rivers are clean and will always be clean. The only place you can get salt water is the ocean and beaches (unless you put sand in your bottle (v1.1.0))
Darn. I hope it'll be for 1.6.4? 96% of the mods I use are still for 1.6.4. That's not to say I don't hope for a 1.7.2 version of that specific update.
The update is for 1.6.4. I don't feel like tackling 1.7.4 any time soon (so don't ask for an update please)Note: Bug testers have been provided with download links to the most recent build of the update. Public downloads should be available in the next day or so if all goes well.
I disagree, when I heard another user in #TinkersConstruct (the one who initially linked me to this mod as he started playtesting it) report that was happening with falling ores, I assumed it was a bug. Iron ore turning into cobblestone is transmutation. I don't like magic transmutation in a 'realism' mod.
Try dropping a chunk of an ore vein off a cliff in real life. Is it still ore? Yep. In fact, it's going to hold together better than a same-volume chunk of stone dropped the same distance. Dropping it might actually be beneficial, in terms of the workload required to smelt the ore in the real world. Not anything like a tech mod's 'ore doubler' of course, just a 'now you don't have to smack it around for as long before you smelt it'. Minecraft lets you carry 64 perfectly hewn 1-metre cubes of ore vein in 1/36 of your backpack, of course, and you somehow chuck all that directly into a furnace of the same volume as one of them, but heh, Minecraft inventory management, crafting, and realism. xD

Anyway we could put up a dev version? I've been tracking this mod since its release and excited to see it!
Actually for the most part it's really stable already, I'm just doing little touch ups here and there where I feel necessary. I think you guys will have a load of fun with the new update either that or you'll rage at me over the many new ways to die. I'm basically just waiting on TimbuckTato to give me the go ahead to release it.

You can override this with the new configs. It's merely a default setting to prevent people exploiting it to get ore blocks without the need of tools or silk touch by dropping it on a torch or slab.
Any notable bugs? Can't wait to see the new version to be up!

Haha! Don't worry I don't do that. It's 'illegal' anyways. I've been scouring the forums for useful mods I can use in my current array of mods and mods that are dead that I can remake without giving the other devs competition since my last post here. I got a bunch of new ideas and some unique ones, too. It worked out well, in the end.

The other thing that guy mentioned was things like sanity and hydration dropping even when playing in a Creative world. Did that get fixed? I don't use Creative, but I could see it being an annoyance having that info on screen pestering him.

Some other things not mentioned in the change log:
- hallucinations
- sweat thermoregulation
- items can have effects too
- spontaneous combustion removed
- Hotter as you go deeper into caves
- Falling blocks have collision damage
- Sanity and temperature change slowed down
- Sleeping fixes sanity quickly
There is probably more but I can't remember them all
I haven't seen my Sanity level change even if I stay outside all night.I do get cold and thirsty, though I haven't been deep enough to see if the air thing works. Also, I'm a little confused on how the Temperature gauge works. From what I can gather, the black lines signify the temperature of where I am, and the circle represents my temperature (Though I don't believe I've seen it move. The ball, not the lines.).The hydration one is pretty easy to figure out, even if it seemed to stop before I started taking damage (Unless I was just lucky. BTW, it'd be nice to be able to drink straight from a river, even if it's a really bad idea. I had to frantically make bottles my first night to avoid dying of thirst NVM, apparently I missed the part about drinking by right-clicking.).Idk, maybe I just don't get the Sanity meter, how it represents it and such, and if so, please let me know, but I'm not sure if maybe I've done something wrong, it doesn't work, or something's conflicting.
Say what?
......
No, dude. Just... no.

but I wish mod ores did it too

This however makes me feel much better.

We currently have decided to not proceed with a dev version as we are so close to a stable release. You can expect a new release very, very, soon.
Alright thanks for the speedy response! Can't wait guys, keep up the great work!

Nope... not that I can find.
also I'd like to point out my favourite statistic about the update at the moment. This is purely this update and no others:

Hrm. Hadn't thought of that exploit. Still, there are ways to fix that.
