On a different note. How invasive would it be to allow for stargates to spawn on the surface. Not just in deserts but once every hundred or so chunks a basic out in the open gate spawns. This directly interacts with making gates hard to break down and move. Taking it a step further it would be interesting to allow for a chance of a DHD not to exist on a surface gate.
Just curious how much extra coding would be involved in expanding the structure spawning.

There's one thing I am waiting for... incursions made by hostile mobs every once and a while the gate you have in your base suddenly activates and out pops hostile mobs ready to take over
Er...maybe add a config file option to disable it though. My daughter uses gates as a form of fast transportation to points of interest. She's not a fan of fighting the mobs, but recognizes that she needs them for certain items. Having them suddenly raid her sea base from the gate she uses to go to her mainland farm or her mine would possibly break this mod for her...

Yeah a config option would be a good idea for the mob thing coming through the gate. But using it in conjunction with another mod that adds stuff like say ICBM, or any mod that adds automated defense systems to protect your base would be a good thing to have unless this mod plans later down the road to add it's own like content.
Between world destruction and crashes, I really wouldn't care, those gates are bloody epic! plus, it would be our fault for not backing up the map.

It was a one-way lock, Earth could dial in but Atlantis couldn't dial in. They got around that issue by using the a series of gate jumps to set up a network to link the Pegasus galaxy to the Milky Way galaxy. Of course that plan was scrapped due to Midway Station being blown up intentionally to prevent the Wraith from getting to Earth.
Dev builds would be a horrible idea. I'll just leave it at that. *I* don't even like playing with our builds ATM
So...make them available with a warning? I'm sure just about everyone who comments regularly would be more than happy to help you guys out with testing...

Janis(the ancient scientist) locked the atlantis gate only to accept wormholes from Earth. this command was removed when the Atlantis Expedition arrived.its not just the gate or the iris/shield. its the nquada generator. I really need a new way of power gen. everything else has been done to death already

Not quite true, every gate EXCEPT the Atlantis gate was locked out of dialing earth, the bridge method was set up to allow a connection without having to use a stupid large amount of power (since each gate would dial the next in the sequence and automatically forward the wormhole). This did have the benefit of allowing dialing earth from any other gate however.

Not necessarily. Could have them spawn near ruins, or even in a biome with plentiful hunting, and still have it fit fine.
