I hope you're reading this, Azanor, because this is for you. I love thaumcraft, have ever since version 2.0 on minecraft 1.2. I'm not going to pester you with questions about when "so and so" is going to be added, because being constantly asked that probably makes you want to do "so and so" LESS. Instead, I ask of you Azanor. what do YOU plan to add next? What do YOU want to work on and incorporate? Something from the mod series's past, something utterly new, what's on your mind? In short, I ask: What are YOUR plans for the mods next content, and what do YOU want to work on/add the most?
I need help. http://clip2net.com/s/6SI8u0
I have problem with iron wand: it dont want charge fire aspect at all.
And as result I cant make anything :-(
And still cant undestand how to charge wand without node
plus
Why perdito aspect charge a little?
about one hour of real time it was 5 points
and then by himself it charge up to 7
the runic armor is incredible by the way. i just love the particle effect of the shield. not even mad at the skellettons shooting me, because it looks so cool every time the armor deflects a shot.

When I got my first piece of runic armor I just sat there letting a skeleton shoot me as I watched that awesome particle effect and the runes on my health bar. I looked like a pin cushion when I was done. The entire concept of runic armor is just brilliant.
For the longest time this was the case for me, I was squatting in a cave I'd stuck a wall in front of, muttering to myself as I wrote page after page of notes on thaumic theory. It was while I was eating a bat I'd beaten to death with a stick I decided that this would not do. I set out immediately to gather stone and get to smelting.
I swear I didn't set out to make it look like a creeper.
Originally it would have been a tower, but after two floors and many stacks of stone I decided enough was enough. I quite like how it turned out anyway.
The inside is still a bit higgledy-piggledy, but on the whole it's serviceable.
That's a pretty neat looking place. You need greatwood planks for those floors . If you do decide to add onto it and finally make it a tower then screenshots would be nice. That looks like a really great start to a tower.
I'm pretty low on inspiration right now so if anyone else wants to brag about give a tour of their homes I'd certainly enjoy it.
Hi, all!
Sorry for my English :b
Where are storage the research data of players?
upd:
Oh, in the Russian localization error. Client crash when i try searching something with thaumometer.
upd2:
Problem solved.
Hmmm is it possible to craft a Silverwood Staff with Thaumium Caps? I have the Thaumaturge's Robe, Thaumaturge's Leggings, Googles of Revealing, Thaumaturge's Boots and Silverwood Wand but still am short 15 vis from being able to add the Thamuium Caps to the Silverwood Staff. I could go for gold caps, but I went through all this extra effort to craft the Charged Thaumium Caps and Silverwood Staff that I'd hate for it to go to waste.
There's no need to stop the infusion. The common causes for cost rising are displacement or destruction of an item on the pedestals or lack of essentia in the jars. Either of these cause an increase of essentia cost for the infusion. While the second case is really difficult to "patch" if there's no essentia jar full of the required essentia laying around ready to be placed, An infusion with a destroyed or displaced ingredient can be completed quite easily by quickly replacind the missing item with a spare one.
in the couple of seconds it will take, the essentia cost shouldn't rise more than 3-4 points. So, make sure to always have some extra essentia before infusing something. Better than starting from scratch.
So, only stop the infusion if you haven't a spare item/essentia jar ready at hand. Have spare items in your hotbar, be mindful of the items on the pedestals.
(NOTE: I still haven't had the time to spend on the new version of thaumcraft 4, so if something changed, please, let me know.)
It's weird, I never have problems with spontaneous flux, lightning or explosions, unless I have the wrong items or Essentia, or I accidentally knock something off myself trying to get to the altar. Every time I let the 'runaways' do their thing, the cost rises indefinitely (200+ per aspect, not 3-4), sucking up all of my Essentia, then zapping something off of a pedestal once I stop the infusion. I replace the item and the essentia and the next time around the infusion performs perfectly.
I don't believe it's a problem with symmetry or incorrect items, as it's happened with 4 item fusions like the Axe of the Stream and others. Now I'm just used to watching for that telltale climb at the start, and being ready to kill the process quickly if need be I did have a really bad time trying to create a Lamp of Growth, goo and explosions everywhere 3-4 times, but I worked out it was because I was using Sano instead of Victus

It straddles a strangely beautiful line between sci-fi (Personal force-field!) and fantasy (Made of magic!) that I think fits nicely with the magical scientist vibe from Thaumcraft. I love the effect when I land from falling, with the dirt flying up and my shield glowing.
That's a pretty neat looking place. You need greatwood planks for those floors . If you do decide to add onto it and finally make it a tower then screenshots would be nice. That looks like a really great start to a tower.
I'm not sure I'll ever make it a tower, I put a glass dome over the top of it. I only have so much stuff in any case, most of the floors would end up empty.
I contemplated greatwood floors, but I thought the dark look wouldn't go with the light and airy vibe. They'd look magnificent in, say, a mansion. Maybe I'll build a mansion to live in sometime and make that my business building.
I'm having an issue with the new gui for changing wand foci, whenever I open it to change them I lose my cursor arrow in all other menu's and gui's. I can see the tooltips, and what I'm highlighting, but there's no arrow so it makes it pretty hard to move it. The only way I've been able to get it back is by restarting my client. Using the current version of Thaumcraft 4.1 and Thaumic Tinkerer, as well as 100+ other mods lol.. Playing on a Mac in case that helps. Having too much fun with Thaumcraft to stop using it so I'll just put up with the randomness for now
What, exactly, are essentia and vis? In the thaumonomicon, essentia is described as liquid vis, which is described as seperated aspects both in aspects of magic and aura and nodes, but it's also described as energy, despite aspects not making sense as energy- they can't change to one another, numerous type are contradictory to the concept of energy, and numerous type seem to represent energy.
In addition, aura and wand vis operate very differently to essentia vis, being completely seperate, with aura vis behaving like an energy resource while essentia vis behaving more like affinity or adjectives, or state (E.g. saxum seems to represent the state of "stoneliness" rather than the energy of stones, potentia seems to represent "energetic" rather than being an energy source). So far, my impressing is that essentia and aspects are not vis energy, but rather something else that complement it- as though aspects are the "how" of things while vis being the resource those things are made of and using (matter is energy, after all). For example, a magical cube would be made of vis-made matter shaped by the squariness aspect. to make it we will infuse squariness into a ball of matter until it's square,.
complex object have much more essentia content, even though they don't have much more energy or mass, and objects with hardly any energy having greater essentia content.
essentias not making sense as energy- void, dark (contradicting, but they can be thought of as "magical" resource), movement, travel, time, change, order, entropy (which represent specific different physical concepts such as v, delta x, t, delta, etc ), various abstract concepts such as tool, protective, perfection, which don't make sense even as a magical resource,
Potentia being tautalogical- the purified seperated energy of energy?
Quit a few devices that can use essentia but do not require it, despite that, as energy, it should be needed to run.
wand vis being seperate from essentia vis, despite them being the same.
essentia rarely acts as energy, more often than not it acts as a component, description, catalyst, form, or other- infusion seem to impose the state of being living/stoney/perfect/dark/intelligent/useful/hungry/empty/strange on the infused object, rather than actually power on them or work on them, crucible recipes seem to be the reverse to their description- the final item is closer to the "catalyst" you throw last than the essentia you throw in (nitor being a light source made of glowstone, alumentum being powerful fuel made from coal, native ore clusters being metal deposits made from metal ores...), while wand vis is almost always used as energy, especially for offensive spells such as fire and lightning..

The best I can do...
Aura: An all surrounding magical field. Potentially the means of operating for devices which can run with or without supplied essentia, an infernal furnace for instance may be drawing latent ignis from the air, but operate better when it's pumped in. The difference between an engine (Passively draws in air to burn fuel) and a jet engine (Actively has air forced in to aid in the reaction), assuming I've not misunderstood how engines work. Hopefully the point is still clear. You can't access this energy with a wand, as it is too diffuse.
Vis: The ethereal component of magic. It cannot be interacted with, and appears inherently unstable when concentrated into an object such as a node... sufficient physical force will cause it to break down into a more stable physical form, ethereal essence. Possibly therefore nodes represent a hyper-saturated magical field. This form of magic can be stored in a wand, and put to various uses.
Aspects: Akin to elements, but for Vis.
Essentia: Purified physical form of Vis, taking the form of a liquid. Since a wand cannot store the more complex aspects of Vis, this must be used in infusion. This is probably where the idea of it being energy comes from, imparting the, well, essence of its aspect. Essence and energy may not be synonymous in the real world, but magic is its own beastie. When you get down to it, "A wizard did it" really is the answer.
Oh, and with regards to the whole catalyst crucible thing. It again doesn't fit the real life "Lowers activation energy but isn't in the reaction" definition of catalyst, but it does fit the more common usage of trigger.
I'd hate to be a bother but I'm getting a conflict with one of the many mods in my game I looked through the crash log thrice but I have yet to find the mod that is causing the API conflict

A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The thaumostatic harness grants a greater Vis discount, and a frugal III enchant on a focus attached to the wand will reduce the cost just far enough to make it possible.
Something I noticed, it only works if Frugal III is the only enchant on it. Tried my Frugal III, Treasure III, Potency III Excavation Focus and the effects didn't apply. Frugal III Wand of Equal Exchange Focus worked though.
TConstruct Environment: DO NOT REPORT THIS CRASH! Unsupported mods in environment: gregtech_addon
I've disabled all my mods except thaumcraft then started turning some on one by one, gregtech and tconstruct do not seem to be the direct cause, though they sure do like to whine a lot in the crash reports.
Something I noticed, it only works if Frugal III is the only enchant on it. Tried my Frugal III, Treasure III, Potency III Excavation Focus and the effects didn't apply. Frugal III Wand of Equal Exchange Focus worked though.
Potency has the inverse effect to Frugal in terms of Vis consumption. Having the two together is a good idea in most cases, but not when it comes to making stuff.

I'm having the same problem on my Mac! Didn't realize it was from the wand focus GUI, though.
what do you mean by that?
there is an option already, to have all the research require the minigame. or do you mean the old minigame? because that didnt feel harder.
it was just slower because there was more guesswork involved, and more moving around of runes.

TConstruct Environment: DO NOT REPORT THIS CRASH! Unsupported mods in environment: gregtech_addon
Forestry : [Forestry] Warning: You have mods that change the behavior of Minecraft, ForgeModLoader, and/or Minecraft Forge to your client:
GregTech
These may have caused this error, and may not be supported. Try reproducing the crash WITHOUT these mods, and report it then.
Something I noticed, it only works if Frugal III is the only enchant on it. Tried my Frugal III, Treasure III, Potency III Excavation Focus and the effects didn't apply. Frugal III Wand of Equal Exchange Focus worked though.
I've disabled all my mods except thaumcraft then started turning some on one by one, gregtech and tconstruct do not seem to be the direct cause, though they sure do like to whine a lot in the crash reports.
Potency has the inverse effect to Frugal in terms of Vis consumption. Having the two together is a good idea in most cases, but not when it comes to making stuff.
You'll need to find a link between Sensus and Auram. I'd suggest Auram-Praecantatio-Vitium-Perditio-Mortuus-Spiritus-Sensus.
Man those two are a pain to connect.
I'm having the same problem on my Mac! Didn't realize it was from the wand focus GUI, though.
Let's see... Auram is Aer + Praecantatio, but I'm not seeing how to connect Aer and Sensus.
Honestly I just tend to try and break everything down to Terra or Ordo and then use my super abundant Saxum and Metallum to solve them.
