I should mention that all of the downloads of the mod and imagery in the topic choked my server up a bit after the mod got featured, but I believe I've straightened that out. If you have trouble downloading the mod at any point though then you can always use the Dropbox link provided.
Awesome mod! This is exactly what I have been looking for lol. Is it possible to use this on a server? If so, where is a tutorial that can show me how to install it on the server?
There might be a guide for it somewhere on these forums, or I'm sure Google would help. But I actually think that the Forge installer has a button to install for servers, and then you would just need to drop this mod in the mods folder it creates after you run the server for the first time. Feel free to ask if you run into any roadblocks, I'm sure there's plenty of people even in this thread who can help.
Hello there! I thought you might like to know that I am placing this mod into a Technic modpack of mine called OptimalPack found here: http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/details/optimalpack.337179 Thank you for allowing me to place this mod in a modpack!
Thanks for letting me know, and good luck with the pack!
Please contact Mojang and ask about adding this to the game or atleast a form of this mod!!! It would reinvent Redstone and the way we interact with it without destroying the core mechanic that they intended! Id love to use this everyday building cool contraptions!
Mojang has been working towards making block metadata more robust, so they may already have plans to improve redstone's functionality in a similar way for all I know. One can hope!
The reason redstone is as limited as it is is due to the very few possible states that a standard block can store. Vanilla redstone currently uses every bit of this space just to store its signal strength (which is also why the maximum strength is limited to 15). Redstone Paste has signal strengths for every face of the block, as well as storing which paste segments are present on each face, so it has to use a tile entity to store this data, which Mojang may have not wanted to resort to for their own. They used very few tile entities early on, and designed redstone in a fairly efficient manner. They then had to ensure it was backwards compatible from then on, to avoid breaking peoples' creations. But as I mentioned, with these improvements to block metadata storage, who knows what that could provide!
Where would I go to report a bug? I've found quite a major one... Here's the link to the video, FYI: The bug doesn't happen on Vanilla or with just DMI and Optifine. P.S: My first post
Even though it didn't seem likely to be this mod given the circumstances, it was serious enough bug to investigate, so I replicated your exact piston setup. I even included Optifine and DamageIndicators along the way, and I just couldn't reproduce it.
Then I realized what version of Forge you're running. You're running #976, which was very early after the 1.7 update. This mod was built using #1024, and they're up to #1061 now. I heard about early Forge for 1.7 having various bugs, so you may indeed have encountered one. It could also be an interaction between Optifine and that early version of Forge, due to how it hooks into the game. Grab one of the newer versions of Forge and give it a shot.
Just wanted to say, I like this mod! The texturing is good, the concepts are good, it just seems like an all around good mod. Redstone has been needing an upgrade for a while, heh.
One thing I want to point out is that bitly offers download stats, just like AdFly I'm assuming, however AdFly also has malicious ads and driveby stuff a lot, sadly.
I will go grab the mod though and play around with it, maybe make a review!

I'm on the CSM team, but I've retired from Minecraft modding for the most part. I made Cliffie's Goos.
I'm an old-timer, been around since Alpha. MC: Windows 10 edition is like the uncanny valley, almost modern Minecraft but off in every way.
I have an XBox tag, but only because I needed one to try the Windows 10 version. I don't have an XBox.

I'm not sure if I installed it correctly because my server is 1.7.9 but when I used the Forge Installer with your mod it downgraded my server to 1.7.2 and I am too lazy to downgrade my client lol. Oh well, sometime in the future I will try again.
I have a problem. I can't find the redstone paste in my creative inventory! but i have everything else from this mod!
Do you have Mutant Creatures installed? I know that that mod uses an item ID which conflicts with the item ID generated by Minecraft for the paste. If so, then you can edit the Redstone Paste config file to change the block ID to something like 1785 which will hopefully fix the issue.
If you don't have Mutant Creatures, then that's a new problem to me. I'd need to know what other mods you have installed.
EDIT: This is assuming you're using the Minecraft 1.5.x or 1.6.x versions. Minecraft 1.7 shouldn't have any kind of block or item ID conflicts anymore.

It sounds like you did it properly. Forge only supports 1.7.2 at the moment. I didn't realize you were using the latest and greatest or I woulda warned you. You still have to install Forge and the mod in your client as well to use it, which will actually give you the Forge profile to select from in the launcher without having to muck around with it.

torch torch torch

smoothstone smoothstone smoothstone
Looks like a normal "flat & thin" redstone device, with 9 redstone torches on it. Red redstone "lines" will connect the actual sides to the side torches.
All torches are "on-off" right-clickable toggles, the 1x1 clickable block area is thius split into a 3x3 "third of a block wide" sub-areas.
If you click a side torch, it makes a red redstone line connecting it to the center torch.
If you click a corner torch, it makes 2 red redstone lines, each connecting to a center-of-side nearby torch.
If you click the center torch, it becomes surrounded by a small red redstone line "square", indicating that the signal can propagate from (and to) the 4 center-of-sides torches (if they were clicked to connect them to the center). Otherwise, most of the square remains dark gray and only those parts of the "red redstone lines" from connecting center-of-sides torches to the center, will show in red, indicating that the signals can only proagate to (and from) one side "straight through" the other.
This could be used to easily make connections like this one here:
In the above picture, a signal from the West goes South (or vice-versa), but not to the east or North, while a signal from the East will go North (or vice-versa), without interfering AT ALL with the part of the circuit on the "West+South" sides.
In the above, the signal entering from the West only goes to the East, without intereference to (or from) the other signal that can move North+South. Toggling only the central torch would make the panel behave like normal "4-ways" dust.
#2 - Maybe make a "full switch" solid block
Each side of this block would have 5 clockable squares, indicating the connections.
The main area of the square indicate "outward signal" capability. It toggles to either gray (no connection) or red (connection). The red is either dull (signal strength 0) or bright (signal strength 1-15).
The center of the square indicates "inward signal" capability. Again, gray or red.
These squares are right-clickable to setup how the block makes the connections.
Clicking toggles the "outward" connection. sneak + clicking sets up the "inward" connection.
I think #2 allows total connection control of a block's sides, but I still like #1 because it fits better with other flat devices (allowing slab covering), and it is not a solid block (which #2 is, meaning both will have slightly different redstone signal behaviors that complete each other).
#3 If I am say in a 1-wide tunnel, can I apply paste to BOTH walls of my tunnel ? And the signals all operate independently without interferece ? How about I make a 1x1x1 hole in the ground, can I put any kind of paste segments I want on all of the 5 blocks sides I see in there ?Given that a line of redstone paste contains only half a much redstone dust than a pure dust line, shouldn't the sitgnal strength drop twice as fast ? With 4 paste per crafting, this mod seems like an easy way to "double your dust", so to speak.
Season's, RedStone Paste, and side ways STAIRS, side ways Slabs, and sideways Glass Pane's that's all I ask for vanilla and ill be happy ;-;so happy this is 1.7
didn't no till today ;-; I need to ask the mod maker about using this mod in a mod pack :/

A few questions / improvements :
#1 - Maybe add a "switching" panel :

didn't no till today ;-; I need to ask the mod maker about using this mod in a mod pack :/
also doing 1.7.2 mod spotlight soon
also put my name on the list of members who want this in Vanilla Minecraft
Happy this is for 1.6.4 as well because when I get 1.7.2 forge it doesn't work :

If you know a little bit about texturing you could do it yourself since there aren't a lot of textures in the mod.
