they do work with linux, all shaderpacks do, i had sildurs shaders running on a chromebook with an intel gma hd, with 15 fps, it was terrible, but it worked, do me a favor and install mesa and update your amd graphics drivers, amd does not lock their cards to a certain fps, no cards do, i can tell your a begginer to linux, but you have to start somewhere, press ctrl + alt + t to open terminal and paste this
sudo apt-get install libglu1-mesa-dev freeglut3-dev mesa-common-dev that should fix your problems and update your amd drivers automaically and add better support for openGL, hope it helped!
I am a beginner to linux and im learning. Thanks for the reply I said that amd locking their gpu's fps is because my friend has a beastly computer and it runs all games at 60, no over no under, even with shaders he runs at 55-60fps.
Now im installing Mesa so Ill tell you when its done.
EDIT:I installed it and still no luck. Vanilla shaders work fine but this doesn't even load it gives me an error in the development console:

As far as I know, my videocard fps isn't locked and it's a AMD Radeon 7970. Vsync locks it to 60, but I assume you know that.
The error log is showing incompatibilities with the whole shaderpack files (like your hardware can't run any part of it). It also mentioned to use a dummy shader instead (dummy shader????). The only thing I think dummy shaders are is the 1.7 shaders.
Now, I assume you installed the shaders core mod and put this in the shaderpack folder, not the resourcepack.

'Dummy' can also mean 'empty'. Going with that, 'empty shaders' can just mean 'no shaders' - so game appearance doesn't change. I think dummy shaders are used just in cases when a chosen shaderpack cannot be loaded properly and further operating with them would make game graphics broken or could even crash the game. Now to precise 'no shaders' - Karyonix's mod probably uses empty (dummy) .vsh and .fsh files as a replacement.
I'm not the developer but these are just my thoughts.
On a fresh install of Minecraft, Forge 1.7.2, and Optifine for 1.7.2, I'm getting this odd graphical issue with the vibrant shader packs. The odd extreme shine to everything underwater. This occurs with all Pre9 vibrant packs.

2GB Radeon HD 7970

This is a known bug. Will be either fixed by the mod or Sildur.
Btw, I have a 7970 as well.

Thanks for informing me what "dummy" means in terms of dummy shaderpack.

Disable lens flare, which I heard was in the final.fsh or composite.fsh
Use notepadd ++ to put two slash marks in front of the lens flare.

Thanks , could you send me the website to download ?
And it is free ?
Try notepad++
Regular notepad is in your computer....
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
What are your specs and driver version?
Google it if you don't know how.
thanksso i went in and first there was #define LENS_FLARE and then ?
Its in the OP
thanks
When i went in there was ,,#define LENS_FLARE'' and there is nowhere Lens_Flare with slashes.
Great mod, if only I had a better computer haha
