Resource packs will be chained. If you have a favorite resource pack, or use vanilla, but you absolutely loathe Zot's silver ingot, AleXndr's bronze armor, and ComicRetrolution's turnips, you can make a resource pack with just those tiles, and nothing else. Load your pack, put it before your default pack, and you get your private silver ingots and bronze armor and turnips, but everything else goes to the default.
It is a brilliant idea. It's perfect for small mods. All we need is a few utilities to create resource packs, and then people can create their own to change that one icon they don't like.
No I. Mean change the textures of the actual ore and ingot in the mod not a resource pack
Technically, you could just simply replace every textures inside the zip file of the mod as you like.
You could find the textures at somewhere inside the 'assets' folder.
But for better compatibility, I would prefer making the alternative textures as a resource pack, which is indeed not that different when compared to making changes on the zip file.
If you are talking about using your textures as the official textures, please let me have a look for it.
I would like to make a plug-in that is a separate, new world generation class (ore spawn rate/size), but have the dimension be specified by a variable in a config file. I would like to do the same with Only Silver. Would you be opposed to me doing this? Or would you prefer to do this yourself?

I have three packages that I am testing, Large, Small, and Tiny. (This is the number of possible World ID's that can be linked to an ore generation command: 25, 9, and 4 for surface ores.)
If anyone could be so kind as to help testing, I would like to see how well it works with various mods. The plan is to use these as a base for three similar Silver generation sets.
So far, I have been told it works with Twilight Forest, and I have been mining in Miners World, but there may be an issue with MystCraft and Mists of Riov. If these packs work with smaller multi-dimension mods but not the large ones, I will drop the Large mod altogether, and make an Only Silver pack for the Small and Tiny (along with Simple Ores).
Thank you. Please note that this package (and all of mine) are not the work of Zot or AleXndr, though they have been very helpful to me. This will be an extension to Zot's Only Silver.
I have a pre-release version of the higher dimension generation mods for Only Silver up on my thread. I have used the Tiny version with the Aroma1997's Miner's World to mine silver. I had the spawn settings set pretty high on the test, but now the mods are set to the spawn settings used by Only Silver. The mods have their own settings file.
There are three version:
Tiny: Two silver generation sets (which can be altered independently), each of which can be bound to two world ID's for up to four worlds total.
Small: Three silver generation sets, each of which can be bound to three world ID's, for up to nine worlds total.
Large: Five silver generation sets, each of which can be bound to five world ID's for up to 25 worlds total.
Their config files are set up like the ones for Simple Ores, to make it easy to keep Silver and Simple Ores generation the same, but these mods do not need Simple Ores.
If you test them, please read the posts about the Simple Ores versions. The world ID's are set by default starting at 9990 and higher. One of the world ID's must be set to the ID of the world it will be bound to. If set to an existing world, it will only affect generation of new (never before generated) chunks.
The code for this is based on the Simple Ores code, which others have been testing today with successes. I've also used this in both a creative testing game and my live game.
I am starting to update my mods to MC 1.6.4 / F884, with AleXndr's GitHub source code for Simple Ores.
I will try to update Sterling Steel tomorrow. I have to stop for the night. However, it may be an interim update to carry your items. I have had some issues with Fusion Furnace recipes with my Arsenic mod, so when I update Sterling Steel, creation of new ingots may not work at first. If this happens, the interim update would allow users to update to MC 1.6.4 and keep Sterling Steel items.
The updated version will be 1.0.1, or an interim will be 1.0.1X.
There is also a second Recycling pack for Sterling Steel, which matches my other Recycling plug-ins.
As with any mod, back up your game first.
Yay! More stuff to make with all the Iron I have. I have trouble finding a use for all of it. I thought about making an Iron Block tower but that may have to wait due to this, hehehe.

As of very late Wednesday night, the MC 1.6.4 (F 884) version of Sterling Steel is out.
I will be finishing my main Fusion Recycle pack Thursday night, and will then do the specific packs for Only Silver (Zot's), Arsenic, and Sterling Steel.

You bet your *** I did. Any stuff with particle type effects is awesome. Now if only manikins were in the game, then I could put all the armor on him and stand him in my vault.

I released a tiny update to Sterling Steel. Version 1.0.2 has two fusion furnace recipes to create small chunks, so coal with metadata 0 & 1 are represented. (This would only effect those who have mods that split coal and charcoal distinctly.)
The Recycle packs (includes Silver and Sterling Steel) are up.
Okay, here's the link. By the way, are you going to make an alternate textures thread? Just asking 'cause many people use resource packs.
Thanks.
I've just put it under the "Alternative Resource Packs" session, as a spoiler seems to be sufficient by now.
I have a recycling pack for Only Silver already. It is based on the Fusion Furnace.

I've used it on zombie drops.
Edit: *sigh*
It's drops, not droppings, droppings are what come out of the southern orifice in mammals.
Make it a resource pack, or just post the textures here then I could make it a resource pack for you.

There is already an alternate texture for silver ore. Look at the config file. I prefer the alternate myself.

Hello, all.
So, I'm testing the higher-dimension generation of Simple Ores.

Sterling Steel is live on my site. It is a silver + iron alloy.
