i posted something about this earlier and did not get a response so i waited for the next update to see if it was included, it wasn't so here it is again.
i would like to make street lamps from your lights and framed wires, but non of them can be placed on the frame. a few possible solutions that i have come up with are make it so that you can place a red alloy wire on the frame making it connect to a face/air block so that you can then place the light on it. another possibility is making a new multipart lamp that dose not take up the whole block.
please respond even if the answer is "not gonna happen" i do not want to bother you about something you are already aware of.
Where can I find info about what ProjectRed actually does?
I get that its an "RP2 replacement" and its on top of Multipart and that it adds redwire, logic, and lamps. However, there's no details anywhere as to what specifically it adds, what the recipes are (I know, I know, "u yoos NEI nub"), how things work, etc. There also seem to be a lot of totally undocumented features that are confusing me - the banner mentions "utilities" with a picture of what looks like an old RP2 canvas bag and reading the changelog, it sounds like it adds some sort of worldgen as well.
Is there somewhere I can get more info about it short of actually reading the source? An existing wiki? An official spotlight, maybe?
The OP also mentions to "check github", but doesn't provide a link there or a project name to search for. You can get there via the website, but that isn't indicated anywhere it will likely confuse a few people. It might be a good idea to link that phrase to the actual place its asking folks to go.
As an addendum: are the configurations fairly extensive? e.g.., can you disable the worlgen stuff, like volcanos?
Does ProjectRed use the RP2 style alloy furnace? If so, what can it produce and what are they used for? Presumably its only needed for red wafers? If this is the case, why not use simpler, more intuitive recipes like RedLogic, rather than the kludgy multi-step monstrosities that were in RP2?

Trivial problem.
Place a couple of blocks of planks or dirt, the desired height, as a scaffold.
Place the lamp on top of the scaffold. Remove the scaffold.
Place a single piece of red alloy wire on the bottom of the lamp.
Place your framed wire as the lamp post and connect to a redstone signal. It will connect to the alloy wire.
Optionally wrap the framed wire in covers.
"Push the button, Max." Done.

sorry should have been more specific i know i could use the full block lamps but the other lamps break when the block they are placed on is broken. i could just use glow stone but was hopping to use the nicer laps in this mod

Do you have red alloy registered in the ore dictionary? if not we just added a similar alloy for redstone conduits in EIO and we'd like to add cross mod compatibility for it.
Of course, I don't actually have the cage lamps yet. 4.0.0.2 doesn't have them, 4.0.1.4 dies on my server (mcpc-plus-1.6.2-R1.1-forge871-B88, latest stable build) partway through startup, and I can't run 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 because there is no 1.6.4 MCPC+ build yet.

Why was this mod not even added to the MCF Mod List until today?! At least I know about it now, but I really would have come rushing over to this place as soon as I knew about it and installed this mod right away!
So this mod is meant to replace RedPower2 huh? Man what have I been missing?! I am really happy to see this mod because I've been wanting something along the lines of an update for RP2 or something that was a faithful reproduction of it. Sure, I was aware of the ones that had a similar vision by Immibis and other mod developers with the same concept, but those mods didn't give me the same feeling, even the ones that I had used. I did appreciate the effort however.
One thing though... where's the pics and recipes?
Despite the lack of pics and recipes, I'm going to get this mod and start going absolutely CRAZY with this mod! But... I don't know how well my Laptop will do when I can't use Optifine with this mod. I hope it won't cause me too much trouble.
Hmm. Odd. I visited the site linked from this thread before, and it worked fine.
Anyways, for now just go to the same URL slash "wiki".

Yep, working on the blog. Just put a /wiki at the end of the URL
Ooo. I like it.
**SIGH** Thank god my catus farms might get the chance to look nice!

This uses Forge Multipart. I think the panels from that mod should work with this mod.
wait, so you mean there wasnt a technical reason that signs weren't multipart-ed?
I really hope it was just an over site...lol
