Forgive me for what may be a stupid question, and I am sorry if this was answered elsewhere but I did not see it in the OP, on the authors website, on the wiki, nor on the forums.
There is a considerable amount of worldgen in this mod it seems. My question is, are the metals and liquids in this mod in the forge ore/liquid dictionary, and if so can I disable the ones that are added by other mods such as copper or oil? I saw the ability to disable oil worldgen in the config, but that seems unwise if it cannot be replaced by buildcraft oil, but neither do I want two different kinds of oil in my world, and the same goes for the different metals. I did not see any way to disable the ores in the config.
Why do you need to disable them? You can still play with several different ore or oil and they will be used and crafted as one thing. I mean you can use IC2 ores for GC or Basic Components crafting. You can use BuildCraft's oil to fill the rocket. GC uses API of every of these mods. I have 3 different types of the same ore on my server and it's ok
Sorry if I understood your question wrong

I know I COULD play with multiple kinds of the same ore enabled, but I prefer not to for several reasons. If one goes manually mining in a world with a lot of worldgen, inventory space is at a premium. It is a waste of space to have two partial unstackable stacks of what should be the same ore.
In an automated mining/smelting/sorting system, for each extra type of the same kind of ore you have to make sure it is set up properly to be dealt with. If it can be pulverized, then yeah it would come out as the same copper bar in the end, but if it is not in the ore dictionary it will not, which was one of my questions.
The most irritating thing for me about having multiple copies of the same ore in a world is just how stupid it feels to have two stacks of different kinds of the same ore that look different and are effectively the same thing. It is kind of hard to explain but seeing this in a modpack I have created just feels like I did a poor job on the pack. If all of the mods I am using that have copper could not turn off their worldgen I would have 4 or 5 different copper ores being generated. It would get out of hand and is not a good thing.
Even if this ore is in the ore dictionary and I could disable all other copper for example and just use this one, I would be limited to how this mod generates the ore. If I could disable this one I can then set up Thermal Expansion to spawn the copper at a density that will give us the appropriate amount of ore to satisfy all mods that use it. I don't expect galacticraft to add ore spawn customization to this extent, but it does seem odd that it cannot be disabled.
tl;dr having two kinds of the same ore is not a viable solution for me.

Alright, I get it. I'm interested in answer to your question too, then
DragnHntr, you can disable Tin/Copper spawn in IC2 or Basic Components in configs
That is true, I also disabled tin and copper in forestry, but my world is currently already generated using Thermal Expansion ores with denser and deeper spawning than normal so that I have enough copper and stuff for all the mods that use it. If I add Galacticraft, any new chunks I explore and any new Mystcraft worlds will have both TE and Galacticraft ores, and if I disable TE ores now I will have the problems that there are two of the same kind of ores in my overworld, which I hate, and also that galacticraft copper spawn rates is probably insufficient for my needs.
I do appreciate your response and trying to help, you are the only person who has replied heheh

Is there are ores that Galacticraft adds? They should be only on Moon. Or you mean ore that adds Basic Components?
P.S. I wanted to ask you, on what version you are?

Oooh, I just assumed that Galacticraft added the ores that it uses. I didn't see any dependencies other than forge, so I figured all the metals it needs it generated. I see on the galacticraft support forum that it recommends TE installed alongside, and I see that others are using basic components. If this requires other mods to spawn the ores that are used that perfectly answers my question and explains why there are no settings for it in the config heheh.
Looks like I was making a big deal about nothing haha, thanks for your persistence in answering my question bear4190.
I guess now my question is, how do you play the mod if you don't have any other mods installed that add the ores it uses?
oh and to answer your question I was trying Galacticraft-1.5.2-a0.1.35.262

You can't play with only GC installed (actually you can, but with GC items from creative mode) - it requires tin and copper. It doesn't matter which mod adds it, IC, Forestry or Basic Components. But still, you can't play GC without Basic Components installed (even when you have mods with tin and copper installed). And that is a problem. GC requries Basic Components items for crafting but there's no Basic Components for 1.5.2. I guess it's not even being developed. I played 1.5.1 with Industrial Craft 2, Basic Components etc and it was fine. But after I updated to 1.5.2 I can't play GC (keeping in mind that I don't want to downgrade to 1.5.1).
But there is also alternative recipes for GC that use items from IC2 but not all are working. I checked them with CraftGuide. Not all items of IC2 are recognized by GC even in the newest versions of GC (that work with newer IC2 API). That's why I playing without GC and waiting for further versions...
Sorry that I stepped away from the topic but my problem made me awfully sad
My friend tried to connect to my server, but when he tries to join it says id missmatch 259 and he cant connect. Before it was id mismatches like 14229-14244 and 3970-3972. I sent him the config file on the server but now it is saying id 259 is the problem. He has all the mods from the server on his client, someone please help so i can have this mod on my server and play with friends
