I've been really busy for the past few months moving to college. Now that it's almost midterms, I'm still going to be busy (lol). But I am going to start working on this mod again. It's going to be a WHILE because I'm going to rebuild the entire mod to work with the 1.7 update. So expect the mod after the update.

Thank you for updating it to 1.6.2, but I won't just be updating it so it works with the current Minecraft version. I'm going to be adding and changing things.

Yea, ummm, i got the 1.6.2 Forge downloaded and i edit the account to use that instead of 1.7.2, and my game keeps crashing. So if you can get back to me on that and how to fix this problem, because this mod looks awesome, and i really really wanna try it out. so pleeeease, anyone, plz help me with my constant game crashing

I don't know what your saying. Are you saying your trying to use Minecraft version 1.7.2 with the mod? If you are, you can't. MCP and Forge isn't updated. If not, please explain. I was the person who updated the mod.

Sooooo when I said that I'd start working on this mod again after 1.7 came out, I apparently didn't prepare for midterms to come up at the same time. I'll be working on it soon, but I have finals for the next two weeks so give me some time.
Excellent mod! I'm very sad that he is not at version 1.6.4. Most people will long to play on 1.6.4 because it is stable, and version 1.7 really does not add much. In addition, the popular mods will be compatible with 1.7 just a few months ... So please, update to 1.6.4 Fishingcraft
i always liked this mod. and its become part of my core mods, no matter how my world is generally themed.
im very cusrious what youre going to do with the 1.7 update. there are so many possibilities with the fishing rod enchantments and the new fishing mechanic.
for example, a fishing rod made of blaze rods, could allow to fish in the lava oceans in the nether. with different types of fish, junk, and treasure than in the overworld.
i know this sounds a little bit crazy, but fishing rods could be used to summon new bosses in the overworld or in the nether. (maybe a specific lure, or an enchantment on the rod required, that can only be obtained via fishing).

I had felt that the current fishing system in minecraft is very boring and static and this mod gave me much satisfaction to fish.
In return, I would like to give you my thoughts and suggestions for the future development of this mod.
Eel might give you a sharp shock (like contact with a block of cactus) and Jellyfish might poison you.
Various creatures would require different tools, like Lobsters and Crabs requiring cages (Hay Day reference) (Or leaving them unattended for some time)
Different materials for Lines (replace string) (metal wire?)
For deep fishing, there might be a chance to catch use rubbish (Nothing) or Coral / Anemone / Seaweed / Kelp / etc. Rubbish could use some hilarious variations as well.
If you want to raise the difficulty of catching certain deep sea fishes / creatures, you can put very specific requirements for the fishing spot, like around W number of water blocks in a radius from the block directly underneath the floating bait) around X number of coral, around Y number of seaweed (radius around the bottom of the ocean bed) and around Z depth (from the surface to the ocean bed). Or the size of the fish determining the chance of the line snapping.
Possible fishing rod enhancements to reduce chance of catching rubbish, and line material enhancements (replace cobweb with something stronger)
Adding weight (Lbs) to classification of fishes caught (Amount of fish meat get has a exponential relationship with weight)
Achievements? (Catching X fish? Y of a certain fish? Heaviest fish caught?)
