I downloaded TConstruct 1.4.7d7 and added it to my group of mods, then started getting out of memory crashes. After much investigation, I discovered that your mod uses 800mb of memory by itself! Thats more than double what vanilla minecraft uses, this mod is a memory sinkhole, whats going on here?
<edit> I've tried 1.5.0d10 build and, at first I couldn't get the smeltery to work with the original 1.4.7d7 design. After rebuilding it to base of 4x4 it lit up but when I added ore it would show the melting bar move very fast but that would be it. I could see the gold liquid inside the construction but in the gui it showed nothing. It wouldn't let me extract the liquid using the drain into a table ingot cast or basin. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. There also seems to be a problem with the grid size inside the smeltery, it seems maxed out regarding the size you've built. The only difference is that it won't let you use the remaining grids if it's too small.
I'm having the same problem, exactly as described, in v1.5.0d11 --- Controller won't light up with original 3x3 design, but after expanding it to 4x4 (didn't even reconstruct the whole thing, just built out the sides), the Controller lit up immediately when I plopped it down again. Lava and Ores appear in the gui as normal, and the melting progress bar on each ore proceeds as expected. When it's finished, the ore blocks disappear in the gui and in the multiblock, and molten metal appears inside the multiblock itself---but the liquid gauge in the gui remains empty, and I can't drain anything out via drains/casting basins.

I am no longer content with streaming. Instead, I'm making youtube videos!
hulduet: The Smeltery still has a few problems. Drains in particular seem to be finnicky, and there's still the problem of too large of a structure exploding.
GrimmJuel: Seared cobblestone is supposed to drop when you mine seared stone, but there appears to be a bug preventing that.
Piggysmiter: How are you going to play it on 1.7.2 without Forge? ^^;;
tibowac2: Invisible items? What other mods do you have?
Manan6619: E's still using the Smeltery. Why not use tools from other mods?
YanFull: Thermal Expansion, yes. Time will tell if it's on our side.
Yusunoha: Oh, don't worry. SDX and TNT will be compatible with the Potion Launcher soon enough.
OptimalMoose: Thaumium should be reimplemented soon. TC4 is very different from TC3.
Leviathan62089: If you have such information, perhaps you could send me the profile? I'd like to see what methods or fields are bloating up.
Eunomiac, hulduet: There is currently a bug where the controller needs a block on the right side of it.

Because! It's heresy!
No, not really, I was just joking ^^''

Also, I've flipped shovel textures for Tinker's Construct and ExtraTiC for a more realistic-looking animation, check here: http://www.minecraft...hovel-textures/
I have run into a problem where i cannot see the molten metal in the smeltery controller. plz help! Im using the latest tconstruct for 1.6.4 (with other mods), i dont think the other mods are causing the problem as everything else is working (i checked).

Any chance on Aluminium compatibility between this mod and galaticraft ? Both mods are rather major, so it would be nice if they could be used interchangeably.
If they aren't compatible, then it's Galacticraft not registering its metals in the Forge ore dictionary. Bring it up with them.
Not entirely certain if it's intentional or not, but Thaumium tool parts aren't showing up for me and I have both Tinkers Construct/Thaumcraft installed. Using Minecraft Forge version 871, Tinkers Construct version 1.4.5.1 and Thaumcraft version 4.0.3a.
That's most likely due to you using the stable version of TiCo. If you want thaumium tools, you'll either have to wait for a new stable release or use dev (the latter not being recommended due to many bugs)

I may or may not play GT. I also might be playing it with TiC. Some Metallurgy and ExtraTiC could be in the mix too. I might have also dropped in some TE as well. Some AE and BC could possibly be on the list. And I maybe- just maybe - there's NEI to assist in short-term memory loss that I may or may not have.

In stable version 1.4.7d7, the Essence Refiner (... I think that's it's name---the End Stone "enchantment table" that stores XP) is occasionally doubling the amount of XP I put into it: Twice now I've banked 30 levels, but the block stored 60. I was able to immediately retrieve a level-60 essence crystal and om-nom it for 60 levels.
I'm running Ars Magica 2, which has a 'Magic Experience' system all its own, in case that's causing issues? I realize I should have paid better attention to what I was doing at both of those times so that I could narrow down the potential cause for you; I'll keep an eye on it if/when it happens again to see if I can find some pattern.

It seems when the newest tinkers construct is used with pixelmon the anvils for making pokeballs, aluminium plates etc will not work soon as i remove the mod it works again. I dont think removing tinkers construct is wise on my server is there a workround or is it just incompatablity at this time with pixelmon?
In my opinion, TConstruct and Pixelmon are not meant to be together. Pixelmon strikes me as the sort of mod meant to be played all its own; what possessed you to pair it with TConstruct to begin with? XD Completely, Overly Random Note (CORN): I dislike Pixelmon for two reasons, them being that 1) My friends burnt me out on it and 2) that its install process is incredibly wonky, stupid, and inconceivably unintuitive. Therefore, my views may be biased.
So I've been playing this mod with Mystcraft, and there's a neat interaction going on. Sometimes lakes or seas are formed with Tinkers Construct liquids... It's pretty neat. I even got some liquid Invar, which is really handy since I'm running Gregtech but hadn't yet seen nickel anywhere.
One issue, though, is that when water flows into a pool of liquid metal, the fluids fight. It looks like eventually the ever-flowiness of water will eat all the mass-conserved-in-flows metal. Also, bucketing TC fluids is strange; it's like it consumes 9 fluid blocks in the world to fill one bucket. (Side-question: how do you re-bucket metal that has been placed in the world?)
Is the fluid VS fluid interaction intended, or incidental? Will it be resolved, or should I bucket what I can before it gets eaten? Is this so unintended that TC fluids will be blacklisted from Mystcraft's dictionary of liquids?

If you have a look in the config files for mystcraft there are disablers for all TiC fluids - with that blacklisting shouldn't be necessary and therefore probably won't be implemented (unless it's in the form of setting default to disabled).

it also happens for me if you've for example 60 levels stored, get the crystal and eat it, use some of the levels and store the remaining levels back in the refiner, if you then take out the crystal again, you'll get 60 levels again

Love your mod but i was wondering. Auto smelt with a hammer displays a nasty graphic of smelting everything you mine.
This graphic makes it impossible to see where you are going and it also takes up the entire screen. (its also extremely bright)
Is there anyway to disable the auto smelt graphic?

I have MFR spawning Giant Green Slimes then Spikes (Extra Utilities) splinting them then Grinder (MFR) killing the small one.
I'm pretty sure the spikes are dealing player damage.
Therefore, my views may be biased.
pillbox has been busy, I see.
Sephirothtm: I don't understand... there's some bug with Pixelmon, but "it don't work"?
Wirblewinde: Screenshot of this graphic? There should only be particles from auto-smelt.
Zedner: OptiFine bugs should be reported on the OptiFine thread.
