That's a recurve bow. The only real difference between a long bow and a short bow is size, so it's possible that's a short recurve bow, but it's definitely a recurve bow. A long bow is typically around 4 to 5 feet in length (measuring from notch to notch), whereas a short bow is more like half that.
You can tell a recurve by how its limbs curve twice- they recurve.
Sorry bud, I looked up Images of a Short bow and that picture came up, I thought it looked cool...
Crafting- Spearhead (new pattern also used in Spear?) and tool rod The Javelin does heavy damage (when thrown), and does some damage in melee as well, while bows shoot farther and do greater or equivalent damage compared to the javelin, the javelin is more versatile by being able to perform decently well in melee. In terms of reach the javelin has no more reach than a Broadsword/Longsword/Rapier. It could "charge" while in "aiming mode", meaning you could still run at full(ish) speed while in the aiming animation. The javelin does not have very long range compared to a bow; and it's harder to aim. Once thrown if/once "stuck" in an enemy , the enemy must be killed to get the javelin back. _________________________________________________________________________________________________
So mDio I heard you were working on armor... just want to make sure you didn't forget Chainmail,
copper chainmail
Iron chainmail
Bronze Chainmail
Steel Chainmail?
Crafting- ??? however you planned to make armor...but with the various chainmail types Chainmail is a armor type that could be made from (in order from least protective to most protective) copper, Iron, Bronze/Steel(<- ?), Alumite, Cobalt/Ardite, and Manyl-whatever the heck it's called-ium. The materials that the armor is made of determines it's teir and damage resistance against slashing weapons (will be explained later), Copper and Iron are teir one, which give five and one half armor and a 20% damage resistance; Bronze, Steel(?), and Alumite are teir two and give six armor and a 50% damage resistance against slashing weapons; and teir three consists of cobalt, Ardite, and Whateveritscalled-ium which gives six and one half armor and 75-80% damage resistance. Now To Why I added the "damage resistance against slashing weapons is because chainmail is renowned for it's resistance against slashing weapons (such as the Broadsword/Longsword) but practically uselessness against piercing weapons (such as the Rapier).
Is it expected behaviour for a shovel to place the block located to the right of it in your hotbar, when right clicking?
Yes, this happens with the shovel, axe and pickaxe, it was added as a convenience thing because mDiyo wanted a way to place torches without switching his held item.

Wouldn't it make sense for Picks to place Torches. Hatchets to place wood, and shovels, dirt.

I have a problem with TC and MFR. When I load TC the grinders from MFR stop picking up the leather from the cows. It gets the steak still, but not the leather. If I remove TC then the grinders work perfectly. Has anyone else seen this issue?
I've seen some oddities with grinders, certainly. Must have to do with the extra drops from cows and chickens that TC adds, but honestly MFR autofarms are being so flaky for me (animals tend to get stuck in walls and die before growing up) that it's hard to be sure exactly what's going on.
This seems weird, especially when played with other mods, and in my effort of making mods more seamless, if some other mod has silver ingots and silver nuggets, I need to add TConstruct silver nugget -> silver ingot recipe and if those ingots are crafted back to nuggets, TConstruct villagers will no longer accept them for a trade.
I have a problem with smeltery liquids not solidifying on the table.
The control block doesnt show the level of stored liquid metal.
Also aluminium seems to be very rare.

when i try to start up my minecraft it keeps saying Forge mod loader has found a problem with your minecraft installation the mods and versions listed below could not be found;
forge : [7.7.1.675,)
iguana_man: The Smeltery may simply be too large for village generation.
Serendipiteit: It looks like you got one of the parts into the output somehow. Break the block and you'll be fine.
Malifrax: It'll be fixed when I get back to modding. I need to explore some other concepts right now, and everyone wants everything from my mod. It's somewhat annoying.
ShadowPredator: Now there's a good suggestion. I'll put it on my to-do list.
DrRedstoner: Natura needs to override some of the vanilla recipes.
mjksull: Add more moss. It's pretty slow with just one.
Synnoc: Patterns can override cost; it's not showing up right in NEI, is all.
x3n0ph0b3: A million tools indeed!
Ragnoff: That sounds like a size 0 itemstack. Some other mod's messing around with furnace recipes in a bad way.
Phantom765: That looks like an OptiFine problem. Forge runs faster and has higher FPS than OptiFine does; I suggest you get rid of it.

Not always the case. My computer is terrible. Without OptiFine and with Forge plus my mod setup, the game is absolutely unplayable at between 1 and 5 frames per second. With OptiFine and my Forge setup, I can struggle along at 10 to 15 FPS, which is enough to do nearly anything except intense battle with multiple mobs, which I avoid anyway.

I get like 50+ more frames with Optifine, it also did something like this with colorful armors where it would replace outputs with blue chainmail, it only does it in the book not with NEI, also it is not unplayable it is just not aesthetically pleasing.
Hi there, I am having some gui issues with the Materials and You book vol 1,
Some of the textures in there look wrong but the blocks are fine in inventory and world.
And, I do have optifine installed and i am using the current recommend version of Tinker's Construct and the current latest version of forge
Sorry bud, I looked up Images of a Short bow and that picture came up, I thought it looked cool...
Now for the continuation of my half developed ideas, so lets continue,
Lets start with the Javelin

Crafting- Spearhead (new pattern also used in Spear?) and tool rod

It would, but any tool can place any block, so it's a moot point.

That is because they aren't there. All other things were added in the 1.5 version. You want those features, update to 1.5.x.
