There was a tutorial that I followed when I did it and I found it to be very helpful, you can copy entire chunks at a time if you want so you subways will still be saved

Try ID resolver 1.5.1. You can download it from the forums. You already have the latest forge and the GUI so you just need to download ID resolver and copy and paste it in your 'coremods' folder. Then run your minecraft. A screen will show up saying 1st run or something like that. Click on 'only show conflicts' to make that one true. And continue. Once it gets to BOP it will stop again and show you the conflict, then I usually click 'automatically assign ID for all from this mod' button and it does the rest. IT is very handy. Otherwise there is a configure file in your .minecraft folder. You could look in there and manually change the ID and hopefully it will be an open number not filled by any other mods. But more than likely when you have one conflict you will have more so I suspect that 3956(bamboo sapling) is not going to be the only conflict. ID resolver will change IDS to the next open number. Hope this helps!!!! Good luck
We now have a complete system in place for you to convert your pre-0.5.2 worlds to 0.5.2!
The only downside is that you *may* lose your items, however i don't believe that anyone would be too concerned about that.
The instructions on how to convert your worlds are sitting there on our Git (for those of you that know where that is), however there isn't really a point in converting them yet since 0.5.2 isn't done yet.
Also, for those wondering, here is the changelog for 0.5.2 so far:
Version 0.5.2 (Unreleased)
- Added an API for other mod developers
- Added support for Biomes O Plenty woods in Thermal Expansion sawmills
- Significantly compressed the amount of Block IDs used, however breaks existing worlds
- Updated to the latest Forge
- Changed various things to use IShearable
- Changed default biome ids to be compatible with Mo Creatures
- Made a proper fix for achievements and made them enabled by default (The config option is still there though for those that want it)
- Added Better World Generation 4 support
- Made shears instantly destroy Biomes O Plenty leaves
- Adjusted high grass hitbox to cover both blocks
- Fixed an issue causing sound files to be created on the desktop
- Biomes O Plenty saplings now work in the Forestry fermenter
- Biomes O Plenty flowers can now be used with bees
- Gave the different types Autumn and Cherry Leaves their own names
- Added Biome Dictionary support
- Added seeds on destroyed Biomes O Plenty grasses
- Carrots and potatoes now have a chance (1%) to be dropped from sprouts
- Added a random drop of apples when destroying apple leaves
- Added flowers to plants created on bonemeal use
- Tweaked the recipe for bamboo thatching
- Bamboo now acts as sticks
- Hopefully fixed saplings once and for all
- Added hardcoded foliage colours
- Added configurable spawn distance between villages in the BOP world type
- Added more biomes for villages to spawn in
- Tweaked cattail generation
- Renamed the texture files to reflect the in-game names
- You can now have different textures for the heart of every log
- Added Thaumcraft compatibility
Now if you'll excuse me, time to start adding some more thaumcraft aspects.
I'm having a bit of a problem... I created a new world and spawned in a Jade Hills biome. But... there aren't any mobs spawning! NONE! Hostile or friendly. I confirmed this by using Rei's mini-map. Is there a problem with anyone else?

While you're at it, here's a way to fix the Achievement crash bug that I posted a weekish ago but you may have missed:
So I figured out what causes Achievement crashes like the one you had to sort of fix, where you get this error:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Duplicate stat id: "Unknown stat" and [...]
I haven't looked at your mod code, but I'm guessing you register your Achievements in mod_BiomesOPlenty.load() or such at the @Init stage. Since Forge ModLoader doesn't call that until after the player's stat file's been loaded, if your custom achievement's ID is in the player's stat file, Minecraft will create a placeholder for the "Unknown stat" when it loads their stats, which then causes a duplicate stat error once it finally gets around to registering your mod's Achievements.
To get around this, either register your Achievements in your mod's @PreInit method, or else when they are first declared as static variables. And then there you go! Live achievements again
In short, register your Achievements in the Forge mod @PreInit stage instead of the @Init stage and you'll be good to go.
So with some testing, I'm finding a lot of biomes simply never spawn Forestry bee hives at all, while at the same time others do. The demarcation is definitely on the type of biome however. Is this because the specific biomes need to be flagged, or ... ?
For example, the Birch Forest biome spawns Meadows hives (it should, actually, spawn Forest hives, but that's a small thing) but a Chaparral biome doesn't spawn any. Both biomes are classified as normal/normal humidity and temperature.

Hopefully this should improve with the next update, quite a few things were changed that may help with it
EDIT: Ugh, latest update didn't seem to help with it, will still have to look into it.
I am a little worried. I have become so hopelessly dependent on this mod, that if if it ever went out of date, I'd probably never play Minecraft again. I hope this is around for a long time, or at least long enough for me to learn how to do things like this myself, to continue on the legacy.
Is there a list of all the blocks and items that BOP adds? Like all of the different woods and etc.
EDIT:
Also, how does one go about adding Better World Generation 4 into BOP? I know that the changelog added compatibility, but how would we do such a thing? As far as I know, the Regular WorldType (that has BWG4 in its settings when creating a mod) is it's own WorldType, when BOP WorldType is a completely different one. I'm a bit confused.
Also also, does the Biomes O Plenty WorldType have vanilla biomes in it?
I'm having issues fixing sheer cliffs. I was trying to generate my world with large 2000x2000 areas that were a specific set of biomes. Each time I switch to a different set of biomes in the config, the next area would be cut off abruptly with sheer cliffs everywhere. I've tried deleting the nearby generated terrain and enabling the "connecting" biome in the next set of biomes, but the game is determined to load the same terrain every time.
Example: I have a large desert bordered by forest. The dunes biome gets cut off and the trees begin. I re-enable the dunes biome, delete some forest and try to let it patch the area manually. It ends up being cut off anyway.

The upcoming update release will reconfigure a number of the item/block ids as they have consolidated them. It will also have BoP and BWG4 compatible with each other (YAY!!)
Update should be anyday now... but you can come check out the minute by minute @ the IRC channel on Esper.net. Details are in the OP

Reading things is fun , as well as being one step ahead.
