This is very buggy... bleeps things it shouldn't and all kinds of weirdness. For example, playing on the ShotBow network, where it normally would say "Welcome to the ShotBow network!" it says "Welcome to the ***w network!" but in the config file, "ShotBo" is not listed. Kinda takes away from the mod having buggy censorship.

The problem with that is that s.o.b. was listed in the config file. The file supports regexes, and in a regex, the character . matches any character. So s.o.b. would match shotbo. I removed that from the config file and updated the mod. (Keep in mind that you'll need to remove it from an old config file manually)
Feature request: let us replace certain words with others, so people swearing look like they're 2 years old.
Also, is there some source code I can mess with and possibly implement that feature myself?

Try deleting the config file and having the mod remake it, I believe your old config doesn't have some of the new options built into it.

Thank you so much for this, I removed it and it worked like a charm. =D This will be a great way to keep a series on my family friendly channel on a server like MC-WarZ where every time someone dies they spam the chat cursing.
I'm getting a lot of "null" lines in the chat, and words are not being blocked.
I have the forge version installed, and some other forge mods, including a custom one I coded.
I think it might be conflicting with my mod, but that is weird since it is only keybinds.
Anybody noticing this?
I don't really know how to fix this if I can't reproduce it myself. Since you're a forge developer, you could try downloading the source and spitting out a few println's yourself, I'd appreciate it if you found anything Other than that, the only thing I could think to try is installing the same mods that you have.
Heh, I know I didn't provide much info, I was just wondering if any mods are known to cause this.
What is your license on the source by the way? I might combine it into one of my mods just for convenience (you would get credit of course). I might need to tweak the source.
I really doubt it's my mod causing this, I think I do know another mod that might (it also reads the chat source, but it didn't conflict in prior versions).

I don't have a formal license, but please don't redistribute it publicly. (For versioning and credit reasons) Feel free to play around with the source and share any modified versions with your friends though. If you have any changes you want made to the mod, ask me and I'll include it in the next update. (Provided it's not too time-consuming)
Is there any way you could make it to where it will send a message you add to the config file that you wont see such as,"Bad <InsertName>! There are children playing!". It seems to me it would be a pretty nifty feature, although I would make the message a little more polite, otherwise you would get more bleeped out messages.:)

I'm not going to add that because you'll just become a spam bot.
Just a quick note that I tried the SafeChat 1.5.2 for Forge with MC 1.6.1 with Forge and it does not load. Looking forward to the update and helping all my kids friend's parents update :-)
There's instructions in the download. If you can't figure it out, I can't help you.
As for the glitches/crashes other people mentioned, I'll review them on the weekend.

Any other info I could get? That doesn't happen for me.
I'll add this link to the main post, but here's all the old versions and the source code. I guess I can add that feature for the 1.6 version though.

I'll look into adding that feature myself. Do you have a GitHub account? That might be a great idea, so people can add features or fork the mod.

I'm not going to add that because you'll just become a spam bot.
I'll make a github account if people actually succeed in adding features.

Happy 4th to the US folks.
