I have another small preview for Biome Colors after making a bunch of progress on the mod today.
Here's what I've come up with as a general palette for the new stone-types:
...and my attempt at sorting them (names completely subject to change/being dropped entirely)
The mod will provide coloration options for a number of different blocks including grass, dirt, sand, sandstone, and more. Each colorized block will have three main options for how it behaves in the game:
- it will act like grass does now (all variants drop a single block that blends into the biome it's placed in)
- it will generates in the world with colors but the block will only be collect-able in the vanilla variety
- each variant of the block will be collect-able and craft-able into other variant blocks
I'm working on having everything configurable to the point where every change made by the mod can be disabled completely without uninstalling.
There's still a lot to get done (and a few issues I have to work out) before it's ready to be released. I'm also planning on focusing on a different project tomorrow, but in the meantime I'd love to hear any feedback or suggestions that you're willing to give
Edit: Looking at the screens I'll probably tweak the Desert and Extreme Hills stone next time I work on this.
Oh man, looks like that compatibility stuff is kind of screwy right now Thanks for pointing out the issue and sorry about the continued hassle; I'll try and work that out completely tomorrow.

On worries. Im happy to help and have just disabled better pumpkins.
Just as a suggestion, it may help to separate all compatibility stuffs and shared code into a central mod that the others can refer back to.

That's how it's normally set-up, but the pumpkins are slightly more complicated since there are now three different mods that make changes to them. That said, it's really just a matter of me needing to clean things up before everything is working as intended.
Biome colours look really awesome. As someone who both uses, and sometimes works on, ExtrabiomesXL, though, I do wonder how they would work with outside biome mods. The two possibilities I can see are variable settings, in which a biome's humidity and temperature determin the replacement automatically, and manual settings, where each type has a section in the config that users can provide a list of biomes for.

As soon as the core mod is finished I'll be focusing on compatibility with different biome mods (and also mods that add new ore types). For the biomes it'll probably end up being a combination of both of those things; the colors used are already based on rainfall and temperature - so whatever edits are made to the provided 'color map' will show on the stone automatically - and I'll probably add some sort of config options to determine what colors are collectible (based on biome) when the correct options are enabled.
If that sort of modular compatibility doesn't work out completely then I'll have something tailor-made for ExtraBiomesXL (for personal use and to mesh well with FTB).
Hey I am making a series of videos for each part of your mod if you wanna use them to demonstrate what Vanilla with Sprinkles is all about. I have one up for fancy fences and one for metal rods will be up tomorrow. So if you want to use them awesome, if not oh well. Thanks a lot Koopinator.

You know, that was a great spotlight, but it made me think of something. There are times when I want fences/walls to connect, and times that I don't. This has always been a limiting factor in my builds, since I will have to add extra blank space any time I want something to be free-standing. Is there any chance you could create some kind of tool that can be used to control whether or nor things connect?
Is there any chance you could create some kind of tool that can be used to control whether or nor things connect?
Maybe. It's not really something I'm interested in doing at the moment (I'm fine with the walls behaving similarly to fences in this way), but if I did address this I'd probably rather add a dedicated "post" block than have an item or other way of manipulating wall blocks to do the same thing.
Small fix for the Forge verison of Better Blocks & Items is up now.
Also, here's another small preview for a "new" trophy in Dungeons & Loot:
The mod is an attempt to make exploring in Minecraft a bit more interesting by adding new varied and challenging dungeons and new unique rewards (more saddles and mossy cobblestone) for the players who can best them.
Looks like better blocks and items still doesn't work for SMP :/ I've tried the latest and recommended builds of forge, and I continue to get java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/minecraft/client/Minecraft
Added Fancy Fences and my game decided not to start. I tried it twice, both times crashed, removed it and it worked. I'm using Useful Storage, Chococraft, MCA, MrCrayfish's furniture mod and Bam's expander.

How the... HOW did you get an ID conflict between Fancy Fences and Useful Storage?
Anyways, just open Fancy Fences' config and edit the ID, or simply download the ID Resolver mod.
Looks like better blocks and items still doesn't work for SMP :/ I've tried the latest and recommended builds of forge, and I continue to get java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/minecraft/client/Minecraft

There is an ID conflict between Useful Storage and Fancy Fences. You can find the config files for both of the mods in your .minecraft/config/vanillawithsprinkles folder, or you can run the ID resolver mod to take care of it automatically.
How the... HOW did you get an ID conflict between Fancy Fences and Useful Storage?
I think it's a result of how Forge's config files are set-up. When there's an conflict as the file is being created, it looks like the ID in question is automatically set to 4095. For Fancy Fences this happens because I set the default to 139 (or w/e vanilla walls already are) and for Useful Storage I'm assuming it happened because it loaded after the furniture mod and conflicted with that.
I'll look into it, but in the meantime were you trying to run the mod on a server? Thank you for posting this.

Anyways, just open Fancy Fences' config and edit the ID, or simply download the ID Resolver mod.
Please post or message me the full error log if you can. Otherwise I'll be re-setting up my server for testing soon and I'll look into it then.
There is an ID conflict between Useful Storage and Fancy Fences. You can find the config files for both of the mods in your .minecraft/config/vanillawithsprinkles folder, or you can run the ID resolver mod to take care of it automatically.
