DO PONIES WANT ME TO MAKE A GOD DAMN VIDEO FOR MAC AND WINDOWS ON HOW TO INSTALL?!?!?! I INSTALLED IT WITH FORAGE ON BOTH AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY F*CKING FINE! NO LAG! EVEN IF IT IS A CRAPPY COMPUTER!
SO DONT COMPLAIN, ACTUALLY TAKE YOUR F*CKING TIME, AND INSTALL IT RIGHT. IF IT DIDNT WORK, YOU DID IT WRONG MOST LIKELY! IM GOING TO MAKE THAT VIDEO SO PONIES CAN STOP COMPLAINING DUE TO ERROR ON THERE PART!

The install method never changed, you just install a different mod first. I found what the problem seems to have been with modloader mods. it appears to be only Risugami's mods that cause the crash when used with forge, at least that's the feel i got last time i installed risugami mods alongside forge.
what so i just put the folder inside minecraft.jar thats it??
Ok people... its this simple...
1. Download forage...
2. Open .minecraft
3. Open forage and minecraft.jar
4. Drag files from forage into minecraft.jar
5. Delete meta-inf
6. Close both...
7. open minecraft, it will make a file called mods
8. put soundpacks.jar into the mods folder...
9. Re-open minecraft
10. DONE
WHY IS THAT SO GOD DAMN HARD!?!??!?!!?
And no lag or anything is caused by forage, forage has worked in place of modloader a big chunk of the time for me. If it doesent work it is likely USER ERROR!
Forge is terrible, please go back to using Modloader.
"Forge is terrible" is not a valid reason to go to modloader... atleast not unless you say HOW it is terrible. Can you please explain to us HOW it can be terrible?

why not 2 versions forge and modloader. all my modloader mods dosnt work with forge. some mods i have have 2 versions forge and modloader and i can decide. but better grass and leaves dont work with forge. only modloader mods that dont change MC base files working with forge. also NEI seems to bug with Forge. and forge has so many bugs in this state its nearly unplayable.
so why dont give us a choice?
Maby because alot of mods DO work with forage... i tested on mac AND windows... everything worked fine, and the NEI bug i know, its a bug with NEI not forage, but no need to go into that here, I am using forage with optifine, and bettergrass worked just fine. So stop complaining and actually make sure you fully installed it proporly, and any bugs are not forages fault most likely
Its just im tired of people not installing it proprly or not trying forge, and then they complain when it doesent work and say its forage, when i have tested myself and proven it is not forage issues...

It's aight.
And to people having problems with Forge, I'd just like to point out that if your using it for the first time, and your also using Optifine, you need to get Forge #255, otherwise you'll crash upon entering a world.
Just thought I'd throw it out there. It'd probably be more fitting to say this in Optifine or Forge's thread, but I feel like alot of people are gonna have this problem here assuming it to be Forge or something.
"Forge is terrible" is not a valid reason to go to modloader... atleast not unless you say HOW it is terrible. Can you please explain to us HOW it can be terrible?
While Forge does make it easier for the modder to make additions or changes to Minecraft, it complicates things for the end user, resulting in all these posts asking why it doesn't work. While it's true people could stand to read the instructions it's unnecessary to make things so complicated for such a simple mod. Were it a mod like the Aether or perhaps Planes, I can understand the need to have an API, however for something so simple as Soundpacks, you don't need to have something so bulky, which is why Modloader is prefered because it's installation is so straightforward. As you can see many people have issues with Forge's current instability. I cannot remember a time where modloader was made unstable due to an update.
While Forge is a mod API, it appears that mods still need to be updated to work with the current Forge version, rendering mods STILL broken when a new update arrives. If I'm wrong on that please correct me.
Just wanted to pop in and say that I was excited to use this but, like many others, will be unable to do so due to the incompatibility with ModLoader.
Thanks for the (probably) awesome mod. Wish I could try it out, but my other mods that use the more mainstream method are not going to be sacrificed for this single one.

Its like modloader for install...
Open minecraft.jar and the forage download zip...
Drag classes from zip to jar
Close jar, open MC
Close mc, put mods in mods folder
Is that hard to install?
And it has not had any problem for mac or windows for me, and i have 25+ mods most of the time... so where is the problem with forge now?

"And it has not had any problem for mac or windows for me"
For you, possibly not.
For other people, yes, it has had problems and there are many people who will tell you that they had no problems untill they installed Forge.
"It must be their computers, then. There's no problem with Forge."
That's a possibility while it's also a blanket statement people use to deny the existance of a problem with their software.
Again, I have not heard of such issues with Modloader.
Soundpacks ran fine before Forge, so I don't see why the switch was necessary. Perhaps if you provided some statistics on why Forge is better I may change my opinion.
One, Forge has the exact same number of steps to install as modloader does, you install it first, then the other jar based mods. Be smart and use something like MultiMC.
Two, if you have 50+ mods that are all in your jar, you have problems, as maybe 10 should be there, and the others go in your mod folder.
Three, if your computer lags out from forge, stop using a toaster running on a TI82.
Lastly, is the download set offline for anyone else?
Just kicked back in, nevermind.

I'd just like to point out that all of my mods that I used with modloader also work with forge and this, soyeah.
I do agree that you should have modloader support though. I don't see why you'd trade in compatability with the most common modloader for a hardly used one...

Blaming the end user for the instability of the product is rediculous. There have been numerous accounts of High end computers having horrible FPS, crashes, and other problems with Minecraft. Why is it so hard to provide a reason for it other than "OH WELL MAYBE YOUR COMPUTER IS AT FAULT." It's a tired excuse and doesn't get us anywhere.
What I meant by statistics was performance and features of Forge over Modloader.
As it is it appears that Forge has the same features as Modloader but much lower performance.

...Where have you been the last few patches? A small handful of mods used ONLY modloader, the vast majority used Forge, but also had modloader stand-alones because people such as we're seeing have no idea what they're talking about and instantly rebel against the idea of Forge. If you bothered to do any research whatsoever you'd know Forge has build in mod-loader capability allowing ANY mod that runs with standard modloader, to run in this. On their webpage, in gigantic bold lettering, it says if you have any modloader mod that does not work with the forge version, to leave a message and it will be fixed in the next build, which they update regularly.

It is the end users fault, because if your computer can't run Minecraft with Forge, it is a problem with your computer, not their coding. I have a 5 year old computer, boot up Minecraft unmodded in 1.3.2, 100 fps. Boot up Minecraft with optifine, 150 FPS, Boot up with optifine and modloader, 150 FPS. Boot up with Optifine and Forge, 150 fps. Maybe try out the latest forge before you start throwing accusations out, and take some responsibility on your own. Get MultiMC, put more RAM to Minecraft. Get Optifine for better FPS. Download Java7 for an overall smoother performance. Done.
In the end, for the modders, whom are providing you with content for free, forge is easier for them to work with, works out much better with their end plans of ensuring that their mod, works with everyone else's mod. They're putting a lot of hours into updating all of this, and to expect them to re-re code it to another, less mod-mix friendly loader is just stupid when you, as the end user, can fix your own problems. Work in tech support some time, you'll learn that 90% of the 'Wah wah it don't work!' complaints come from someone doing something wrong.

I'm not saying Modloader is always better than Forge. I'm saying that Forge is unnecessary for this mod as it's a client-side mod with little need for compatability with other mods. Forge is good for large mods such as Aether or Planes, but not this mod.
The only reason people prefer Modloader over Forge is due to it's hit-and-miss stability. For you it's fine hunky dorry, for others not so.
I should not have to continue explaining that not everyone's computer is the same and a high end computer does not have the same chance at stability as your five year-old computer.
Also, as it is now, Optifine only works with ONE version of Forge at the moment.
People. about the 50+ mods or stuff and not wanting to re-install... there is launchers and stuff called mcpatcher. there is also multimc and magiclauncher... they are like 3 buttons to add a mod. so you can re-install super easy.
and i have 40 friends, i let them install forge, it didnt work... i showed them how to install... it worked, thus proving the issue was in the install process... and some of them had horrable computers, some good, some great, and it all worked. i have proven with that testing that the error is in the users installing process... and it could all be fixed if people try to use one of the tools i listed off:
MCPatcher: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/232701-12w23a-132-125-etcupdate-819-mcpatcher-hd-fix-242/
MultiMC: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1000645-multimc-31-windows-linux-mac/
Magiclauncher: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/939149-launcher-magic-launcher-099-mods-options-news/
And dont say "but i dont know how to use the launcher things" Because there is guied on the pages most likely, if you open your eyes and look that is. So i have proven its not the computers OR the mod itself causing error most of the time, and 90% of the time its the users install process that caused the issue. So please stop complaining and actually try one of the launchers or try reading the instructions.
