I thought I'd give this mod a try, but as it's for 1.2.5, I cannot seem to find a copy of that version of minecraft that works.
I installed all the mods needed, got the game to load up, clicked "single player" and was given a dirt-screen that soon turned black.
Thought it was a problem with the mods (i.e. installing them wrong) so I redownloaded the 1.2.5 jar I'd found and tried that, same problem.
Help?

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.
I believe this error may be to due to the way I botched modloader in with forge for SDK's gun mod, which I believe I'm not supposed to do. I have occurred this error before, and have just randomly juggled to fix it. This time, doing that doesn't seem to be working.

Umm if you have terrafirmacraft all of those mods are useless because the items are unobtainable in survival since Terrafirmacraft edits terrain generation

OOOOooooohhhhhhhh, wow! I just actually looked into this for the first time (spotted it before but didn't pay much notice), and it looks totally awesome! I have been won over, downloading and bookmarking now. Looks truly sweet, keep it up!
EDIT: Well this is good and truly frustrating. I'm trying to install the mod; I've stripped down to merest basics, absolutely nothing but Forge (latest version), Player API (latest version), and the Mod (latest version). Minecraft loads just fine; no problems at all. Then I try to create a world, and it gets stuck at "Loading world/Converting world". Stays there until I shut it down myself (aka CRASHES). What am I doing wrong? There should be absolutely nothing conflicting, Forge reports no errors, and Minecraft loads fine. I've never run into anything like this in over a year of successful modding!!! HELP!
Define Cute (choose 1): A) Creepers Aerbunnies C) Herobrine. If you chose A): You appeal to destruction and to stereotypes. If you chose B): You are a perfectly normal person, and enjoy the Aether Mod. If you chose C): Please leave the planet now before you set off a nuclear warhead--no one enjoys mass murders, however nice they might seem to you.

I'm having the exact same problem. It will be at the the right temp and everything, but it doesn't change into an ingot.
Wow-what a mod! Great work person (or small army) who is making this. I've just played a few days and I love it. I can't wait for more. I'm obsessed with checking for updates because I've never seen bugfixes and additions happen so fast. You should be proud.
- The Cubic Chunks Mod is back! Be a part of it's rebirth and Development.

I installed all the mods needed, got the game to load up, clicked "single player" and was given a dirt-screen that soon turned black.

Is it because perhaps the download instructions have changed to "put in mods folder?" Or possibly because of a conflict? The other mods I have are:
Forge .145
3D Items
Optifine
Player API + Render
GUI API
Delete your configs, that's an id conflict.
Also 49b is out.
Don't think it's an ID conflict, I've seen those. (Fail, there is one, but that's not the only problem. Getting rid of old config file.) Only mods I had were the latest Forge, 3D Items, Optifine, Player API, Render Player API, TFC, and CodeChickenCore and NEI:

EDIT: Ignore this, it was an ID conflict.
Maybe you let the ingot get too cold
HELP!
TFC.cfg, config folder of you minecraft folder. or just use NEI to see them in game
I'm having the exact same problem. It will be at the the right temp and everything, but it doesn't change into an ingot.
There was a bug with anvils which has been solved in one of the latest versions.
