what about hand cannons, old-west styled gatling guns and those WW1 not-reliable-at-all flame throwers (it would be realy neat if you exploded when damaged while usimg one of those)?

I like all those ideas, especially because I was having trouble coming up with my own.

My Website. I make mods for Minecraft and am also making my own game.
This mod is good. I gave it a four and said it needed more guns, which, it does. Still, i think this is the most realistic gun mod there is. Its nice and simple, not confusing like other ones. Just guns. Also the forum post itself was nice.
Also, im having trouble firing. When i left click, instead of firing i get a long-range punch that does no damage. I dont get it,,

Fire with right-click (the first time you right click loads the gun with ammo, there is none in it by default). The long-range punch of weirdness is a bug I discovered in my developer copy in MCP. I had no idea it had made it into the released version, so thanks for pointing it out.

Configuration is going to be in the next release (which is about ten years earlier than i had ever hoped for) due to the magic of ModLoader's MLProp system. Currently, the top-secret developer copy will generate a config file, it just doesn't do anything yet.
Shotguns will also be in the next version. I have the code that detects ammo types and fires the gun ready at the moment, so all I have left to work on is changing ammo and adding some actual, usable shotguns.
Sound is being delayed (again) due to MCP shoving its rear end into a fire every time I add it to MCP.
I can't find the source of the "infinite-range 0-damage punch" bug, so that won't be fixed this time around. However, it isn't a game-breaking or even balance-changing problem so it isn't high on my priority list anyway.
November has been pretty hard in terms of schoolwork, so development has been virtually stopped for quite a while. However, with the release of 1.0.0, I will resume coding as soon as MCP and ModLoader update.

I've managed to get Tlos to do the art for my mod. Here's his flintlock pistol:
More from him coming soon!
If you still have 1.8.8 (I can't imagine why you would, but on the off-chance you do), here's an appropriately-sized one to put in /mod_SimpleGuns.zip/gui (you will have to replace the old one) If it isn't already named "flintlock" when you download it, rename it to that to make it work.
EDIT: MCP for Minecraft 1.0 is finally out! Development has been resumed and I *hope* to have the update out by tomorrow. In the meantime, I have another, very simple mod planned. Don't expect anything fancy, because it was just one of those, "Man, this would be nice to have" moments in the game. More info coming soon. Until then, happy mining!
EDIT #2: On the subject of updates, I'm sorry to say but many of the glorious things I promised will not be added. Shotguns will be added, but they will not have interchangeable ammo. The MLProp file generates, but as far as I can tell it doesn't do anything at the moment. Sounds are still not going to be added. Coding is a difficult business, you know, and as a project wears on, standards for success slip lower and lower.
TRIPLE EDIT: Both configuration and the long-range punch bug seem to have magically fixed themselves with the coming of 1.0.0. Sound and interchangeable ammo are still being delayed.
Developer's Log 11/27/11: Shotguns cause massive lag problems and use up all of Java's allocated memory, causing a "saving chunks" screen crash. ****.
Developer's Log 11/27/11 12:48 PM: Shotguns will now fire without crashing the game, however they will only fire one shot despite my frantic screwing-around with random numbers. At this point, if I don't get them working by 5:00 PST, I will release a temporary 1.0.0 update with no new features.
Developer's Log 11/27/11 5:07 PM: I have almost figured out how to make shotguns work, however they cause the game to freeze up without crashing, forcing me to alt+tab and kill it with Task Manager. Because it is after 5:00 PST, I am now going to patch it out of the code and upload without adding anything except MLProp configuration.
Okay, at long last I have updated. Going back over the features list, it turns out that I added more than I had though. Shotguns, however, are still being delayed due to being an extreme pain in the ass to code. Have fun shooting some zombles in 1.0.0! I'll be back later with more updates on coding progress for those of you kind enough to care.
EDIT: Also, my screenshots aren't the best, so if you want to make a screenshot/video/sig banner go ahead. If it's good enough, I'll put it in the OP.
NOT BAD! NOT BAD AT ALL! *Downloads* cant wait to try this. (and cant wait to try coding as for myself). *twelve years latier YES YES I FINALLY MADE MY FIRST MOD FOR MINECRAFT 1.0.1!!!!!!) Get it...... not really..... i hate myself :unsure.gif:

While we wait patiently for MCP 1.0.0, does anyone have some suggestions?
EDIT: Four posts in a row with no response? I guess that's what I get for making a mod right before an update.
