I forgot to thank you, sir Jeffrey. You are a saviour of many, that is for sure. Did you make the video too? Without that, I wouldn't have tried to install said mod; it seemed too complicated (but isn't).
May I ask exactly how you made that mod? Technically speaking (and keep in mind I know nothing of this stuff).

No, the video was made by ICYCARTER.
After I found which file contained the Enderman data (gz.class), I opened it up in a java decompiler, I then played around with it, removing one function at a time, to see which one was the block picking up ability (for instance, one of the ones I removed before that was the teleport ability).
After I found the block picking up ability, I then removed only that specific function, so that all of the other Enderman abilities remain, and only the ability to pickup blocks was gone.
Then I recompiled the file, and after testing it, I uploaded it.

Thank you! I didn't expect to understand, but that's crystal clear. In honor of you, and dishonor of enderman, I suggest we rename endermen, "Geezies", because of the gz.class file.
Well, sorry for being a megaupload newb, but the only download link I see intiated the download, but it was prompting one of the virus things. Is there the possibility of getting an ad.fly link at all?
You're welcome, I actually just signed up on these forums myself, when I made this mod.
I hope so too, I had always used vanilla Minecraft before 1.8, but this update drove me to make my first mod.
You didn't see META-INF in the Minecraft.jar?
It has to be deleted for the mod to work, did you try to run Minecraft?
If it went to a black screen, then the META-INF folder is probably still there.
Nope. I didn't see a folder or a file and the youtube video makes no mention of it either. I loaded the game in my test world and moved to an area where I know enders spawn and that just walked around looking rather helpless not picking up any blocks.
The only thing I do out of the ordinary with the game is run MC Patcher to allow me to use the John Smith 32x32 texture pack.
Now pardon my terminology that may not be correct... I've been running on an older engine/loader for Minecraft up until a few days ago. I never had the loading screen that many players have now because I've been at this so long, but I ended up re-downloading it after I went from pre-release 1.8 to official 1.8 then running the patcher for the texture pack that somehow reverted me to pre-release 1.8. Rather than try to troubleshoot, I just backed up my saves and re-downloaded the .exe which gave me the new loader. Not sure if any of that has anything to do with the lack of meta-inf or I just haven't found it yet.

My guess is that MC Patcher probably deleted the META-INF folder when you ran it.
So, you shouldn't have any problems with it now, I wouldn't think.

It's running perfectly. I previously tested in Creative and was just able to test in Survival after I ventured out past hundreds of torches I placed to stop them from spawning.
Question: after an official update, will I need to replace the geezie file again and delete the meta folder again?
Yes, you will.
But, depending on what Mojang changes in the next update, I may have to recompile the files, so the ones that are up right now, are not guaranteed to work with 1.8.2 or 1.9.
After the next official update, I will work as quickly as I can to get the mod working for that version though, since I am using this mod myself.
first, im using winrar to do this. and i cant figure out a way to recompile the .jar back into a .jar after adding the file. i can extract the .jar just fine, but then the only thing i seem to be able to get it back into is a .rar
second, throughout this thread there appearrs to be 2 different file to download; jk.class and gz.class. do i have to use one or both of them?
third, after i do this what happens down the road a few minecraft game updates later? if endermen get fixed in say.. 1.9.3 and i want to remove this mod at that time how do i restore the .jar? i know that i can just save the .jar before i alter it but the real .jar will have been changing since initially installing this mod. for that matter, i might assume that every time the game goes through an update the file(s) for this mod will get overwritten.
fyi: im using windows vista 64-bit and 64-bit java.
im also using xfactor and their version of TCadmin to host my server.

1. I don't have any experience using winrar, so you might want to download 7-zip and use that, all you have to do is just drag and drop the class file into the open jar file in 7-zip, and delete the META-INF, and your all set.
2. gz.class is for single player, I recommend downloading the one from the top link.
jx.class is only useful if you are running a multiplayer server, if not you don't need it.
If you are running a multiplayer server, and you also want to use the mod in singleplayer as well, then you'll need to get both, gz.class goes in your Minecraft.jar, and jx.class goes in your Minecraft_server.jar, don't delete the META-INF from Minecraft_server.jar.
3. Yeah, anytime there is an official update from Mojang, it will download you a brand new Minecraft.jar, overwriting all mods you have installed including this one.
I used the second link in the post. I removed the META-INF folder. They are still moving blocks.
I should note that if in your world, they were holding blocks before you added the mod, they'll still be holding them when you get back on your world, this mod only prevents them from picking up new blocks, it doesn't get rid of ones they were already holding.
So, try to find some freshly spawned Endermen, and see if they pickup anything.
Debated about getting this mod seeing as I actually like the Endermens ability to move things however walking through yet another dismantled forest convinced me this has to go.
Not sure if it would even be possible but it would be great if you made another version of this that disabled Endermens ability to move certain blocks, specifically wood. A number of folk like the Endermen destructive abilities but when they unleash it on a forest it's maddening.
May I ask exactly how you made that mod? Technically speaking (and keep in mind I know nothing of this stuff).
Thank you. This is truly wonderful.

:biggrin.gif:
Thank you for taking the effort to make this mod. This is the first mod that I've used and I hope the need for this is only temporary.
I didn't need to do this: "Delete the META-INF folder from your Minecraft.jar."
I didn't see it. Did I do something wrong?
Endermen are griefers coded into the game.
Did you download the right one?
Use either the first or the second download link in the post.
The two bottom ones, are just ones that make them waterproof, but don't take away their block moving abilities.
I haven't tested it on a Mac though.

If all else fails, download a fresh copy of Minecraft, by pushing Force Update in the launcher, then try again.
