Thanks for the help with the erroneous texture blocks. I also found this on another site:
A common problem with Forge and Optifine is that if you installed Optifine first then Forge will misplace item textures all over the place. Torches will look like planks, creepers will look like water, and furnaces will look like ender-dragon faces. To fix this just reinstall Optifine. You shouldn't even need to start from a force update (to wipe the mods) just drag all the .class files in Optifine back into your minecraft.jar and replace the files. This works for me every time.
So, I did the Optifine reinstall and it seems to be fixed for now. The only problem is that the TF items still don't appear in my TMI--Oh well...
I just had something weird happen. Just walking around during the day in a TF Clearing area, no apparent mobs around, full food bar, etc. It's acting like something is hitting me. Nothing on entity radar. (Rei minimap) I turn a full circle, look every direction including up and down, and don't see anything that could be causing it. It's not taking off any health, maybe because I'm in full diamond kit.
Are there invisible critters that can attack you in TF?
Edit: When playing on multiplayer I have to play a single player game before connecting to the server. If I connect straight to multiplayer server I crash.
Are you adding anything else to this mod??? (By the way, i still like this mod with railcraft, because it works)
Bugs/glitches: Haven't had any yet, i think
Changes you should make: Cant you try to make mushrooms grow on grass again?
Add a boss dungeon from surface to somewhere underground and I would like it if you put traps and secret places after a button is pressed. that's my sort of dungeon. Yesterday I reinstalled Optifine because of a texture block problem, and at first things seemed fine. Now my Minecraft crashes as soon as I open a world. Even a new/fresh one. I get this message:

--- END ERROR REPORT 2b6b41e1 ----------
I just fought the Hydra and I have some feedback about it:
1. I really want to congratulate you because it's the best boss so far, even funnier to fight than the ender dragon
2. As Zeklo said before, the Hydra killed me two times (XD) and when I got back it had 3 heads and the same health than when it killed me, so it doesn't make much sense
3. I would suggest a change in the Hydra attacks. Why? because,as you said, the Hydra is supposed to be the greatest challenge in the Twilight Forest with his flames and bombs that can easily kill you, but it is very easy to kill only with a potion of swiftness and a diamond sword (no need of a diamond armor as it won't be able to hit you). So, I suggest that the Hydra head that is spitting fire to move faster but to deal less damage (as you can evade it without running, just walking); also the bomber Hydra head should fire the bombs faster, or maybe the bombs should explode faster (as they are very dodgeable and take too long to explode). The reason for this is that you are supposed to need fire protection enchantments and fire resistance potions, but actually you can beat the Hydra with a potion of swiftness and without armor, as I said before.
4. Another things that I noticed are the scepters and their effect on the Hydra, as the Life-Draining Scepter deals way too much damage and makes the fight too easy (you need less than 10 fermented spider eyes to kill the Hydra). Also, the Zombie Summoning Scepter is not working on the battle because the Summoned Zombies only wander around following the player and not attacking the Hydra. So I thought that maybe the zombies attacking the Hydra would be over powered, so maybe the zombies can work as bait, forcing the Hydra to attack the (one by one) while the player can attack the Hydra safely.
That's what I got this far (I will find more Hydras to bring you more feedback), but except from that it still is the hardest and funniest boss in the game, so very very good job man
I just had something weird happen. Just walking around during the day in a TF Clearing area, no apparent mobs around, full food bar, etc. It's acting like something is hitting me. Are there invisible critters that can attack you in TF?
That is strange! No, there aren't any secret invisible creatures. Last time I had something like that happen to me, it turned out I was starving and not looking at the food meter, but it doesn't sound like that's what's happening here.
Are you adding anything else to this mod??? (By the way, i still like this mod with railcraft, because it works)
Bugs/glitches: Haven't had any yet, i think

I am certainly still working on new stuff. I have a long-term plan with a ton of new stuff. Right now I'm working on moving the underground mazes to their own separate area, and improving their monsters, treasure and looks. I'm not sure if there will be a boss. Bosses are a lot of work--the hydra took me something like a month. Maybe a mini-boss.

I think Macs have a different way of merging folders that makes older Forge installs delete the sound system by accident. If I've been following their changelogs correctly, I think they fixed that. Try the most recent Forge, otherwise make sure you don't overwrite the paulscode/sound/SoundSystem portion of the minecraft.jar when you're merging in the Forge files.
Yes i know i am new here as a forum member, but am not as a forum guest. I too have also defeated the Hydra... and unfortunately, it was very easy. However, my point is that maybe making the Hydra able to be mobile avoiding long-ranged attacks. My method of defeating the beast was simply having stacks of dirt to block the hydra's attack, and shooting it with a gun from Baikon's Weapon mod. I understand that using another mod to defeat the Hydra may seem to be a cheat, or refered to as cheating, but do u think u can make it mobile to avoid situations like this. I am sure that other members r using other mods as I am too when playing with the TF. My suggestion would be to make the Hydra able to jump and land ontop of the player when the player is a certain number of blks away from the hydra- causing the hydra to stomp and dealing massive damage to the player! Or just plain teleporting like the Lich would also work, although that doesnt seem too convincing for the hydra.
I just fought the Hydra and I have some feedback about it:

Thanks for all the feedback!
Minecraft is pretty challenging to design bosses for because there are all these things like swiftness potions or fire protection potions that drastically change the player's abilities. Furthermore, I want the bosses to basically follow the rules of the game, so I can't just make them ignore those finds of effects.
As far as the difficulty goes, if you died twice during the fight, that sounds about right for normal difficulty. I played through Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword last winter, and I (really) loved all the bosses in there, but I didn't really die more than twice to any of them, and a few of them I beat on the first try.
I'll probably have the hydra start to heal if it is not being attacked, like the Wither does now. That way it should heal partially (or fully) if you die and come back. And I want to adjust the mechanics a bit on hard mode. The fire breath will track faster and more accurately, and there will be more heads attacking at once.
Anyways, thanks again for describing your experiences.
This has probably been asked already, but what are your plans for the magnetic blood?
The initial plan was that you'd combine it with iron to get a new metal. Then you could make magnetic armor and weapons. Then I started to wonder what the hydra had to do with magnets, so I changed it to "fiery blood" and fiery tools/armor. They're fire-themed. I may use some of the magnetic ideas in something later.
So that's the plan now, and actually it's pretty much finished. I should make another release soon.

Ultimately, it's impossible to plan for every other mod. I do like your idea of the stomp though. My only worry is that once it's possible to taunt the hydra into following you, the nature of the fight changes from "defeat the boss on its own turf" to "lure the boss into a trap". I do like the idea though, and I'll give it some thought.
When I saw a Hydra for the first time I thought two things:
1. "Whoa, that is pretty freaking awesome!"
2. "I wanna make it a pet."
I think the Hydra as set up seems pretty balanced overall. The only thing I'd suggest is kinda giving it some Naga-like block detecting/destroying ability (such as: detect Y level of feet, detect any blocks Y+1 block level above Y that is within 20 blocks of Hydra and destroy). This would prevent wall-building and focus more on dodging and timing. I inadvertently had a bit of an easy go of it once I started because a rubber tree from IC2 spawned in front of the Hydra and it served as a barrier that the fire bombs apparently couldn't destroy.

During my initial testing, when the hydra's bombs actually destroyed blocks, it quickly turned everything nearby into a griefed mess. Maybe I should take another cue from the Wither though and have the hydra launch bombs wit increased blasting power if it detects that the player is hiding. I'll do some testing on that.

Maybe make it so that grass blocks don't blow up, but everything else does? Dirt wouldn't be able to turn to grass that fast, I believe, if people try to build "grass walls."
As for everything else getting destroyed, well, it IS a big freaking Hydra spewing fire bombs and fire blasts after all!

My minecraft is not loading Twilight forest it stays downloading Terran Forever. block are working. I using SCP Mod v9 (forge) Lateran mod (works with forge) and ElementalCreepers v2.5 (forge) with this mod. it working fine in normal world but in twilight Forest is loading forever..... Plz fix this bug. (Or i have to download Optifine?)
Are there invisible critters that can attack you in TF?
Thank you!
Edit: When playing on multiplayer I have to play a single player game before connecting to the server. If I connect straight to multiplayer server I crash.
(my picture is from a mod called BetterDungeons, hasn't updated yet, it adds dungeons to the overworld and has different mobs [no blocks or items]) i like this mod to be with it so i can get double the fun and action!
MOSQUITOS!!!
they are hard to see and a pain

--- END ERROR REPORT 2b6b41e1 ----------
That's what I got this far (I will find more Hydras to bring you more feedback), but except from that it still is the hardest and funniest boss in the game, so very very good job man
That is strange! No, there aren't any secret invisible creatures. Last time I had something like that happen to me, it turned out I was starving and not looking at the food meter, but it doesn't sound like that's what's happening here.
That's strange. Is that in 1.11.8? Are you using mods that edit base classes? If so, there may be a mod conflict. I don't see another way to get that error there.
I'm not sure. It doesn't look like an error with this mod. You may have to start with a fresh jar and reinstall Forge and Optifine.
I made my own shader pack, by the way.
