truthfully I had been waiting till these prereleases stopped pouring out hoping that a new MCP would arrive but that doesnt seem like its going to happen till minecraft is launched. So I started to revamp this mod recently so its being worked on now. But I probably wont have another release for a while. Im really messing with trying to get 3 layers of rock working but notch's code is very weird and kinda hard to get working right. So I have been having some issues. I just was able to get the layers spawning are decent proportions. Though getting ores and the like to spawn in decent amounts is going to take some work. Balancing this is going to be a pain. Im also working on a few new blocks as well. unfortunately I probably wont have any new aesthetic blocks such as stairs or half blocks down by the next release but I may be able to push them out soon after depending how long it takes me to get notch's wonky code. So well anyways I should probably have an a release for maybe 1.8 next week some time maybe but if i cant Ill have to update to 1.9 and that will probably set it back some more
also It will be using minecraft forge because of all the new textures and I also will be cutting back the use of Painterly Textures as I can. Though Im still going to have to edit a ton of base classes because Im messing with biomes and terrain generation, so don't expect much compatibility with other mods.

Looking for a little input here. I have two sedimentary rock types, sandstone and limestone and two igneous rocks basalt and granite. What biomes should have which in your guys opinions.

limestone should be in the swamp, sandstone the desert, basalt in the forest, and granit in the plains area ?

As far as my knowledge goes granite is the most abundant igneous rock for land formations there for it will be mostly under large land masses. Basalt on the other hand is very common under water like oceans and the like. Limestone and sandstone are both very common sedimentary rocks though I think most people recognize limestone as the normalish rock so im putting that as the for most common or default. I have deserts being the only one with sandstone as of this message and oceans being the only one with basalt. This is all subject to change though.

Metamorphic Rock - Hornfels
Igneous Rock - Granite or Basalt
I am really loving the idea behind this mod, It is probably the only one I have seen that I like so far. I am really looking forward to how you progress with this it reminds me of Dwarf Fortress lol.
This may be an odd request, but could you possibly make it so that in order to create metal tools and weapons that it requires using anvils, You would use the furnace to soften the metal, then transfer the hot metal to an anvil to create and bind the item with it handle/hilt. this could be added into geotools I guess. Also sense redstone is a fantasy based ore, maybe you can change it to silicon? it make more sense to me somewhat using that as an electrical application in the game.
anyway those are my ideas looking forward to what you can do with this mod once the release version come out after minecon :smile.gif:
P.S. Also somewhat unrelated to the mod, but I would love to see you change some farming properties, by having bonemeal used as fertilizer that just decreases the time for plants to grow, instead of it acting like a instant use (which bugs the hell out of me)
I have seen this mod and it was iterestes me. At the moment I am playing a mod that if it is compatible with this it would be awsome.I will just have to wait until minecraft is released.

That mod does some similar things I agree but it would be too hard to make them compatible and there only a few types of mods that I would work hard enough at trying to make compatible and well that one doesn't really match my scope so sorry they will probably not be.

Yeah since I have to heavily modify the biome decorator and the terrain generator and mostly they did too even if we both use forge it probably still wouldnt work
