Is the cubic chunks mod compatible with Minecraft 1.0? Sorry if this has already been answered, but I didn't see it in the OP and didn't feel like reading 121 pages to find out...
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.
Posted a new version of SaveConverterto the OP, which should fix a bug so that it will work with Minecraft-Extended-Height maps. Can you confirm this, MineCrak?
@MineCrak: Yep. It's progress.
@itsthejoker: Ah, good point! Fixed.
@jarrod54321: That is balistically wierd! I don't think I've ever seen chunk errors get that bad. I've seen a generated world-hole, once in a while, and I've seen self-reforming lakes, but I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that.
I could disable terrain generation, but that would probably mean all of the vaporized chunks became empty air chunks instead...
Could you load your world once, save it, then send it to me? I'd like to see whether it looks at all right or not. Because it might be a saving error, or it might be a loading error, and I'd like to know which one...
@exp1os1v3: Not yet, but it will be before long.
Er, BTW, I want to warn you guys, RMob really does exist. At least, he has his own MinecraftForum user account:
How do you suggest i send my save Robinton, its about 50mb, its wierd coz i love ur mod and the concept, yet i love my city in one piece.
Edit- Does it matter that this world has been used in 1.0 and is now back in 1.8?
"Edit- Does it matter that this world has been used in 1.0 and is now back in 1.8?" Yes, that might be the problem. It might not do anything, or it might blow thing up, and I couldn't predict which one without trying it first...
You could try waiting a week or so. I'll eventually get CC updated.
Alternatively, you could try uploading your world to dropbox even though it's ridiculously large. Is it any smaller compressed? And could you only include a few region files that make up your city?

I'll wait to u update (no pressure of course lol) because i dont know anything bout region files and all that to make it smalller to upload. Keep up the good work! Allowing support for optifine would make these two mods the perfect mc combo.
Volcano update! There's one more change that needs to be made -- the um.class included in the download is the wrong version. If you install the mod as it currently is, you get this error right when you click on "single player":
But when I replaced um.class with the smaller version from one of the previous (non-working) releases I downloaded, I suddenly had a working volcano! It promptly exploded, took half of my experimenting grounds with it, and now I am out one TNT cannon and most of the surrounding area. But that's okay, because I have more diamond and gold than I know what to do with, which is awesome. :biggrin.gif:
Cant wait for CC to be updated to 1.0.
I only play minecraft with the CC versions at the moment because of the freedom with building, so Im greatly missing my enchanted diamond pickaxes and swords :smile.gif:
*Edit* Should also mention, Ive encountered a bug with CC 1.8.1, is there a place to report these?
Its with growing crops, when you replant a seed, it seems to want to 'grow' whatever was last on that piece of soil. ie when I replant seeds after harvesting, I get fully grown crops straight away. I even had one strange case where I planted a seed and it made a crop with a wood texture, I think this was because previously there had been a wooden fence in that place.
Really wish I could get CC to work :/ I've tried everything from the Tutorial and everything that Robinton has told me but it still doesn't want to work =[ Is there any chance someone would be interested in Teamviewing me?
I've got 4096_IDs working, except for one little problem: Forge is not yet updated, hence no infinite sprites...
I guess I'll save my IDs progress in a separate folder that'll be ready for Forge updating, and start on updating CC. I'm really looking forward to Threaded Save File coding... Seriously.
@jarrod54321: Ok. Thanks. And I'll try to someday.
@itsthejoker: Ok. Fixed.
@ADEdge: Thanks. :biggrin.gif: And I'm working on updating.
And I'm sure that I fixed that bug at some time or another... Do you have the latest version? If so, I'll have to release a fix.
@JL4A: So, you are using ModLoader for MC Beta 1.8.1, right?
@DarkenMoon97: 4096_BlockIDs gives 4096 block types, not Sprites. Forge already allows infinite sprites. So, pwnedgod is right.

Hey yawl.. it's been awhile sense I've been lurking here. I'm just curious if there's any news about Compressed Faraway Chunks? Honestly, that is the only thing minecraft related that I'm interested in right now... Not really any work on my CC modification.. Been busy building house in real life :tongue.gif: but I'm taking Christmas off so..
Shits! "Threaded Save File coding" sounds pretty sweet too! But yeah, Compressed Chunks all the way.. :biggrin.gif:
I feel bad asking questions that I'm sure have been answered a thousand times, but really don't have the time to read through page after page to find the answers. Maybe someone could draw up a kind of Cubic Chunks FAQ to put in the opening post?
1) I think I'm right in saying that bedrock is now 32,000 blocks below sea level. How does that affect ore generation? It is the same as vanilla placement, but with all chunks below -64 having the same ores as levels -40 to -64? Or are the ores more stretched out, meaning we'd need to dig further down than in vanilla to find diamond?
2) I've only heard of 16x16x16 chunks in passing, but one thing I think I remember being said is that is has negative effects when it comes to cave generation. Do caves generate differently in this mod compared to what we're used to in vanilla? Are they bigger, smaller, less extensive? Are mineshafts and strongholds affected?
3) One thing I've noticed about the other mod I've seen that alters world height is that it seems to generate a lot of weird structures floating in the air. Does this mod do anything similar? Also, are things like mountains bigger than vanilla, or is it basically the same landscape, just more freedom to build higher?
4) Does this mod actually boost the performance of minecraft in general, or does the 16x16x16 chunk generation purely stop the world height ruining FPS, leaving it similar to vanilla minecraft performance wise? Also, is it compatible with Optifine?
5) The opening post mentions a 'lava core'. What does that mean exactly?
Again, I apologise for these basic questions. This looks like a really promising mod and it's definitely on my watch list for when it's updated and I finally start a 1.0 world.
I'll just try to answer by what I know. By no means my word is completely right.
1) Implementation isn't finished yet. But I think ore spawns normaly below vanilla heights. And Robinton made a addon-mod in don't know what version that makes diamonds spawns about thousand blocks below.
2) Implementation isn't finished yet. I think for now caves rarely spawns or doesn't even exists yet.
3) You can customize the world generation settings. It isn't fully implemented yet, as there are only a couple of options to mess with, but I think Robinton is porting all PhoenixTerrainMod's functions into CubicChunks and he is open to help with Terrain Generation.
4) Some say that they got an insane FPS boost while not creating or rendering new areas. While moving it drops considerably, but standing in places where there are lots of air blocks, your FPS should be very high. It is not compatible with Optifine yet, but it is on the list of things to be done.
5) I think it was a fix for lava in terrain generation. I think it is included in later releases. Search through most recent pages. You should find a download link for the most recent build of Cubic Chunks with it's neccessary fixes, if any.
If i got something wrong, please correct me! :biggrin.gif:
EDIT: It seems that I'm outadted with new info about CC, so probably a lot of things I said above is incorrect.

not sure the last time you checked in, Rob had some picks out of some stuff he was working on, but nothing since then that I have seen.
OT: @everyone
terraria just got a MASSIVE update that more than doubled the content of the game (4 new bosses, 222 new items, etc.)

Right?
No. Infinite terrain and sprites actually. The 4096 mod is just for Block ids.
