Glass panes are coming in the next update, better stained glass is available for large and solid panes (it's what I use), and the gravel and other accessories can be made by people creative enough :smile.gif:
Aquatic plants are also available from wild grass (water lilies) and Nandonalt's coral reef mod (which can be retextured if you prefer freshwater plants instead of coral).
Why over-complicate things that we're already desperately trying to over complicate? :tongue.gif:
Small fishies are coming! We are trying to work out a "schooling" code now so we can add angel fish and tetras and stuff... so... YAY
Don't really know what I could suggest. How about decorative items for ponds or tanks? Like seaweed, coral, castle, bubble maker, lily pads, or maybe a shishi-odoshi. I think that's what they're called. I know about the Wild Grass mod's lily pads but I'd stop using it if lily pads were a koi drop.
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that work is happening with the koi. Once MCP gets a 1.8 release I'll try and push out the new version, but in the meantime:
Frogcraft! Next release, everything is a frog! I turn everything from the creepers to pigs into frogs! IT WILL BE WONDERFUL AND MAGNIFICENT AND I MUST TYPE THIS IN CAPS BECAUSE IT IS SO AWESOME!1one Really though, I was working on that "jittery" movement they have and decided to do this just to see what would happen. Lo and behold, frog koi.
DJ is finishing up work on some models and textures, hopefully we'll be able to show you guys some new stuff soon. With 1.8 including rivers and ocean biomes, we're aiming to have the fish spawn in the appropriate type of water. You know, saltwater fish in oceans, freshwater in rivers, and maybe brackish water in swamps. The mod may become Slappy McCracken's Aquatic Life Expanded. Yay.
Question for you folks: What are your opinions of amphibious creatures? Would you be interested in an axolotl, tadpoles, or perhaps some aquatic frogs?
Anyway, it's looking pretty good so far, of course the model, animation and behavior will evolve over time the same way the koi did, but I think we're nearing a "complete" version of the koi. Shouldn't take as long as the koi, I have a much better grasp on what I'm doing now, and I seemingly have a good base to make the other fish with.
Pure awesomeness
Although, i have some problems with the pellets
Flowers don't grow and spread which means eventually, you'r gonna have to venture far to find some and eventually you will run out (and i mean eventually like playing for a year doing nothing but picking flowers)
there are some nice idea from this semi-dead dicussion about a Koi mod http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/158218-modwip-koi-fish-mod-version-021-mod-by-paradox1123/
You can use bonemeal O_o
EDIT : My minecraft insists on not generating a properties file (Q_Q), can anyone copy-paste the exact folder of the properties file and what's in it? I checked mods and config files for both properties file and for the folder named kerik.

Tell you the truth, i'm happy with everything on that list, so now i guess you'll have to make them all! :tongue.gif:
So... no 1.8 release. We're going to just hold off for 1.9, or at least see if Notch releases another half dozen updates for 1.8 before I bother fixing everything (1.8 has basically caused the koi to explode and lag the game until it's no longer playable) in a rush. DJ is doing some nice work on the models and textures, I'm surprised by the lack of interest, but I guess we'll have to get some videos up to show them off in-game.
I'm very interested in this, but they've been spawning so profusely since 1.6.6, that I haven't been able to use this mod. Since so few people have mentioned having this problem, and you never seemed to have the problem yourself, it never got fixed. I was hoping that, somehow, a config/properties file could be used that would limit the spawning of the koi, and only the koi (I use Mo' Creatures, and Skovee's Reef Mantas mods), and not all the other aquatic creatures. So, there's definitely interest, at least from me. I'm hoping the spawning issue can be figured out.... I look forward to any update(s) you've got coming. Hopefully I'll be able to use them. Mouser X over and out.
We're looking to make the koi rarer, and with the new water biomes I can try and get them to spawn in specific locations. As for spawn limits, or a config file, I'm looking into both, modloader has some stuff I never got around to figuring out, so I've been peeking around in the javadoc to see if I can add some new features without additional APIs. I'll also end up grabbing the other mods that add aquatic creatures to see that they all play nicely together. I'll look into the koi spawning issue, I wasn't aware that it was still a problem, but at this point our mod list is fairly minimal. I'm probably going to add a "life" timer or something since the wife says they aren't despawning properly, but in my personal tests I've stood there and watched untamed koi despawn.
First on the list is getting them to work in 1.8, they spawn... sorta. They work as advertised in the worlds where I already have them tamed, but they seem to spawn and instantly die in 1.8 leaving eggs everywhere, which lags the game to oblivion (if only!).
looks like we're getting stuff done!!! Yeah!!! Now to figure out the schooling code...

This looks awesome! i know you said your guna hold out until 1.9 but i still cant wait! you guys should add some massive fish that attacks players like the Aligator Gar or something :smile.gif:
Just finished this Alligator Gar mock-up, been working on this for a few days now... still a WIP but I'll wait to see how it animates before I mess with it more.
I think it looks pretty good! But, can it be configurable? Will it spawn/attack when playing peaceful? Stuff like that. I like having my watery areas with lots of fish (but not too much, as it makes Minecraft unplayable....), so I wouldn't mind seeing it around. But if I'm on peaceful, I wouldn't want to get eaten either.... Glad to see you're still working on this! Mouser X over and out.
It will spawn regardless of difficulty, but will only be player aggressive on easy or above. The plan is to create several types of fish to inhabit the different water types (lakes, oceans, rivers, swamps) so you won't end up with 6939542 fish in the tiny pond you're in, you'll see more variety spread out. The gar, for example, will primarily spawn in rivers, but they will show up in lakes and the like. For swamps we're looking at frogs and turtles, eels, that sort of thing. Ideally nothing will be spawning in overwhelming numbers, with the extra variety we'll be spawning numbers based on size.
The gar, again, will probably never show up in groups of more than 3 to a chunk. The koi will be made very rare, since there are plenty of them to cover the difference. Smaller schooling fish, like Angel Fish or Discus will be spawned in larger groups, up to a maximum of around 10. They're buddha koi size at most though, so don't concern yourself on that. Possibly some larger spawns that only have 1 per chunk, like a whale or a shark, stuff that would just take over even the new ocean biomes if they spawned like the koi. DJ is working on alternate textures and we're coming up with "base" models like the koi, since many fish are similar in shape. That way we'll be able to get lots of variety simply from changing the size and texture, along with some behavioral modifications.
Not that anyone cares, but a 1.8 release of the koi may yet happen. If there is any interest, I took a short video of their new current movement (in 1.8) with the fantastic water shader available on the forums. Check it out:

Oh man, those new fish are just gorgeous. I'm so excited. Even though I tend to stay out of water, I love seeing more life in Minecraft, especially such cool looking ones.
Love the new movement, by the way! Looks smoother, despite the occasional jerkiness.
Edit: I have an idea for the new deeper oceans
maybe add something like crabs to the bottom of the sea
Just an idea, but hold off on this, i wanna see an update
so i can play this awesome mod
