The iron tool or weapon you choose to make first is your choice.
I wasn't talking about NOT taking better tools or weapons out. I was talking about not packing around unfinished products such as iron nuggets, diamonds, tons of coal, a bunch of stuff like that.
Also, you keep saying you have yet to die in your world, good for you. I won't give you the praise you are looking for about that.
I am trying to give advice, not rub it in someones face that I haven't died yet.
There's only two ways you're gonna die in overland BTW - player error, and creepers.
Try swimming over a underwater riven that you didn't know about.
I heard a moan, looked down, and got scared, surprised, and freaked out in the span of a few seconds.
5 zombies took the water stream up, scared me silly, then a creeper came up behind me when I was fighting.
I've probably died over 20 times in mine. Do I get a cookie?
No idea why you'd want one, they don't exactly give you much in the way of shanks, but here you go:
Wouldn't you much rather have a hearty stew, or steak and potatoes?
Better Than Wolves seems to be quite unique in terms of gameplay. Most games punish you for losing/dying. FlowerChild has crafted death into being part of the experience, rather than a punishment. Like getting your first iron tool, overcoming the hardships of death takes time.
I can honestly say that when you get to the point where you hardly ever die, you might play Minecraft a little too much. You might also find what Dinnerbone considers "Ultra Hard Core" to be far too easy. Hell, you probably already think that simply by choosing to play Better Than Wolves.

See...I kept telling everyone that wolves are evil despicable creatures, but would anyone listen? No, of course not, and now you're all ******, so "haha...told you so".
I think you should learn how to read more closely.
Again, I never said not to take out better iron tools or weapons when exploring. What part of that do you not understand?
I also never said that iron and diamond tools should be hid away.
My entire point was about not taking along a full inventory of valuables for a simple hunting trip, when there is always that possibility of error.
And when I say "valuables" that doesn't mean better tools or weapons, that means not packing around a brewing stand, vMC enchantment table, few bars of gold, etc.
Also, I did mention that I thought he died with his iron nuggets on him, hopefully you read that far or have the common sense to.
I think you guys were largely saying the same thing and are getting hung up on semantics.
I think everyone can agree that if you make iron tools you should use them, but if you're carrying around something like an iron hoe or surplus iron with you while caving, it's probably best to consider leaving it at home.
So I couldn't find anything in the changelog about trapped chests, and I tried to craft them to no avail, so I was wondering, are they no longer craftable? I was just curious because I was looking to make more compact storage.

Nevermind. I figured it out, sorry to bother.
Enderchests are fairly neat for compact storage.

A mighty machine built within the wake
Of a long dead dream, little demon awake
The citizens sleep, never quite knowing when
The device will reawaken, hungry again.
I think he means using enderchest like a normal chest, but putting them next to each other.
chests need a one-block space between them, that can be anything but another chest, so people use trapped chests and such for compact storage. I think he means using enderchests to fill in the gaps between chests, so you can use every space available for storage
An enderchest acts like a normal chest without a beacon. They also look kinda neat.

LMAO I just got the subtitle
"Better than wolves: taking the b out of "banal"!"
The proceeded to create a new large biome world that started me in the middle of a HUGE ocean on a small island with no trees.
This mod is survival enough for me, I'm not that anal..
LMFAO

My first encounter with "The Beast" today. Holy Hell that thing is nerve wracking!
Bravo! I'm staying away from wolves till I have a decent hemp farm and wind gen this time.
P.S. Seriously, scared the crap out of me. He transformed from one of my tame doggies literally right in front of my face.

After a while, I'm sure you'll learn mods are more about quality than quantity. As for compatibility, the thread rather specifically states 1.5.2, nothing added since then was really worth using anyway. BTW is about surviving in a world that wants you dead, and fighting to conquer your surroundings. Using the windmills with almost any other mod would mean they were decorative only, instead of serving their intended function as a pre-nether mechanical power source.
I'm starting to learn Java now, and I don't think it's that bad. It's like learning any new language. The more you use it the easier it is.
I'm pretty fluent in C++ and C# however, so the paradigm doesn't escape me.
Good luck to you sir and/or maddam
And to add to what kazerima is saying. This mod is meant to be a total conversion, and flowerchild prefers it used without other mods. You can use the same MC Launcher that 1.7.2 uses, but you'll need a new .minecraft for 1.5.2(Trust me, it's well worth it)

Well, there is one exception, the CraftGuide mod. Although that doesn't interfere with any of FlowerChild's changes. Just gives an in-game way of seeing crafting recipes.
I can't remember if Flowerchild endorsed it's use or not, but I do remember him saying something about it being used with Better Than Wolves.
I personally play Better Than Wolves with 2 additional mods. CraftGuide and a tiny one that changes item frames to display maps the same way vanilla Minecraft now does.

Flowerchild, I just wanted to let to know that it is possible to get endstone without beating the dragon.
By using an enderchest with beacon, you can transport endstone from the end to the overworld. To get back you simply have to suicide.
I think it's unlikely most people would be able to survive conquering the Wither without steel tools or armor, I don't know if I could at least.

Well, default is the recommended mode of play, as it's what FC designed around.
