Has anyone made progress on Hardcore Nothing to Worry About? I quickly approaching the first nether visit and I am not sure yet where to put my portal. I'm stockpiling eggs in the event that I light a fireworks display with my portal location.
The only hint (that may or may not be relevant) was FC mentioned having a lot of bats appearing through his nether portal which might indicate keeping it in darkness might help.
I'm debating between a shrine to the portal on top of a snowy hill near my base or off raised over some water on stilts. (Something akin to Kurast from Diablo 2 might be fitting a design :P) Either way they are a reasonable distance from either of my main animal pens but I'm not sure if either is enough based on some rumors I've read.

put it about 4 chunks away for both noise and explosion purposes, and FC, can you fix the portals being ridiculously loud no matter what your volume is set at? (excluding off and REALLY low volumes like 1-20)

windoge 8 has the saddest excuse for a BSOD, it just tells you the type of error, no stop code, no nothing, just "something went wrong, all your unsaved work has now been lost to the void that is volatile memory"
I just made a neither portal.... after coming back I hear a laughing and my chickens one by one explode.
The chickens aren't in the neither and have never been. If its not the portal needs to be moved then idk, but I'm nearly chickenless. But...maybe its not so bad, I just got watermelon seeds.
This new world made 2-3 days ago.
Easiest world yet (Can't beat killing an iron armor skeleton and getting that to cave with), nothing above ground that doesn't have to be. But now the neither fortress hunt... The funniest thing is I never ment it to be, but the water that feeds the crops, sucks monsters under and gives me free drops. Its not deep enough to spawn squid, don't know if I could catch fish in it. Haven't found a single mushroom, not even in my neither yet.
I've started throwing skeleton bows away. I can't burn them or repair combine them like I would in vanilla. I do get so many. What do people with mob towers do with them all?
This is the first game I've been sheering creepers. What a difference it makes.
Zombies just ignore me. I sit and watch an army of them run around me since a cow is nearby.

Last I've seen then can be harvested for their string and sticks in the cauldron.
Each update makes me both happy, for all the new stuff we get, yet sad that it all has to end for RTH to be made. Seeing candles becoming placeable really drove it home that there just isnt much time left. It's always been a "when I have nothing more important" kind of job, and seeing it included means it really is almost done.
Thanks, but I've read it before. I've skimmed through it again since you've reminded me looking for some additional insight but as much detail as in there it is largely relating to the spread and recovery once an outbreak occurs. I'm really interested in ways to contain it in the first place which seems to be possible from what I've read but no one seems to have a definite way of doing it.
I plan to bridge across a large body of water towards a taiga biome in the hopes of getting some wolves. Once that is finished I'll put my portal on that side of the water. There is a nice hill where I can prominently display my dark temple. I can hope that anything uninvited that comes through the portal likes hats. Perhaps even that would solve my other problem... or make it dreadfully worse...

You could be right there - but look on the bright side! That means RTH! And if you're not right, it's more BTW. Effectively, win/slightly less win.
Now imagine a BTW unfettered by vanilla preconceptions and vanilla bugs code....

Hehe...I hear you man. As we get ever closer to the end (and we are indeed very close now) my own sense of trepidation increases as well. It's a big step to be sure, probably for me most of all
But as was mentioned above: think of it as a new beginning and an increased opportunity for BTW to expand into areas that just wouldn't be feasible before. There are very big things coming, even if this particular chapter is drawing to a close
So nobody has figured out how to stop Hardcore Nothing to Worry About?
...Does it have anything to do with cats? Seems you always try to add a use to everything... If I recall my history correctly, cats were Egypt's guardians of the dead or something like that.
Since you removed the ability for fence gates and trapdoors to interact with redstone, are you going to add replacements for these blocks that do interact with redstone?

You mean like pistons, iron doors, Pulleys and Platforms or the Block Dispenser?
While I'm at it, I'll also include a key you have to press every few seconds to remind Steve to breath.
I lold so hard for some reason at that
But FC thank you so much for the candles! lol
...wait...now that I think about it...you could at least add that feature in an off state so people could joke around with it...it could have the bellow sound...ANOTHER THING...green eggs and ham...that's all I'm saying :3
You mean like pistons, iron doors, Pulleys and Platforms or the Block Dispenser?
Yeah I guess that makes more sense than adding iron trapdoor...
Anyway very exited for the final version of the mod coming very soon. After some of the latest updates I decided to stop playing until you finally finish it, so I'll be able to play it again. The thought that everything I do in the game might change in a patch bothers me quite a bit...
Don't forget "hardcore dung production" to go with hardcore breathing, where steve has to spend about 3 minutes taking a dump after eating. If you take too long to relieve him, steve explodes with tiny little brown and red particles everywhere.
Loved using thirst mod, would still use it if I could. Sometimes different needs are more fun than a single one. And it gives you more projects to need to create.
Water on the surface is everywhere. But it isn't always in locations that are good for you. If your water source is the ocean you get hats. Your first 1-2 days are spending some of that time either gathering the large amount of wood to smelt three glass or part of your "its getting night rush" is where's the water! build location.
Right now you can hole up anywhere, it would make it a lot more challenging if you had to have water. Even worse if that water needed boiling or might make you sick and lose hunger.
Most times I died when using a thirst mod in the past was deep underground where you only have those single source annoyance streams. Drawing water from them and possibly depleting them, keeping the search going for an actual deep underground underwater lake or carrying tons of cooked water bottles and less food/drops.
BTW almost has as many drinks as one might expect in a thirst mod, Milk, Chocolate milk, water, soups, chowders, stews. Some of the top foods are stews, which would also have water in them. It would be cool if screw pumps played some importance in thirst.
The thirst mod I tried only let you draw from water sources, not moving streams.
Up to power saw and hopper again. Sounds like you might have btw finished by the end of this month or mid next month.
I see foul food now has no uses at all, except to make steve sick on the wiki. I've been throwing it into the ocean to feed my hats. It sits there and floats and they stay far away. But now the coast is starting to smell funny.

No worries.
If you don't mind spoilers (which seems to be what you're asking for ), you'll likely find this thread helpful:

Right, because there definitely isn't a surplus of water in the environment which would make that immediately irrelevant.

lol My apologies I hadn't thought about how redundant thirst would be :P. I just thought it would be interesting. Sorry about that.

Ugh, I am not looking forward to Hardcore breathing.
It's bad enough I catch myself forgetting to eat.
