How far are you in this world? If you're not very far, couldn't you just make a new one where your spawn isn't in the middle of an ocean?
i have never given up a world because of a bad spawnpoint and i blatantly refuse to do it now.
I did survive the trip, which had a nice intermezzo of me dying due to a laggy pig (don't ask: i'm clueless myself), but i survived the boredom by reading a magazine while tapping s occasionally. (if you sit backwards in a boat, "S" makes you go forward)
At first i was a proponent of Hardcore beds, but after playing in my main world, it's starting to get REALLY annoying.
Guy...if you're choosing to play the game with non-standard options, and are winding up in an annoying situation as a result, do you really think it's reasonable to be blaming the mod's features for that?
Harcore beds are not fun, and if cant f3 thing its not fun too :(( It wil be great if that wil be in some update changeable!
As others are telling you (perhaps it will be clearer if I say it myself): not going to happen.
This is the way the mod plays, and what I intend to balance for in the future. The ever decreasing levels of challenge and increasing lack of incentive to actually build for practical in-game reasons are currently the primary problems with Minecraft that I am trying to address.
There's no way I'm going to put in and maintain options for every little thing I change along the way to that end.
At first i was a proponent of Hardcore beds, but after playing in my main world, it's starting to get REALLY annoying.
This isn't your typical "i hate rain" or "i hate not skipping the night", but a very practical problem.
You see, i play on Large Biomes. Specifically, my spawn is right in an ocean. And the problem with oceans is: creatures do not spawn in ocean biomes. Normally it's not a big deal, as oceans can be big but traverseable. Well, my Huge Biomes ocean is currently over 5000x5000 blocks large. and i only just found 1 edge of the ocean, so it could very well be over 10k x 10k large.
I am currently transporting cows and pigs across the ocean, the most mind-numbing and most uber-boring thing i have ever done in MC, worse than hand-mining out a cave of over 135x40x7 blocks large.
If beds still had their functionality, i could've set up base in a spot at least somewhat better than this hellhole in the middle of a blue wasteland, but hardcore beds basically forces me to do uber-boring stuff.
and the worst part? i was first exploring by nether, building a netherrailway as i explored to ensure i could get a relatively fast connection, but it's over 600 blocks long and still fruitless. I built it in the wrong direction, as the biome i found was in a different place than my netherway is going.
SO basically, my fun is hanging by a thread....
Just sayin, it makes Huge Biomes a true, true hell.
You don't HAVE to spawn in your main home y'know. Could've set it up so that that was your temp home and the mainland becomes your main home. That way you only have to make the trip any time you die.

I'm new to installing mods, and have tried many different ways to get the the last 3 updates to work, but no luck :/. Can someone give me a very detailed step by step way of getting this mod to work,or tell me my problem? Thnx
Although I won't be your assistant, I will see if I can help. I'm going to go ahead and guess from the randommobsinfo that its because you're using mcpatcher with random mobs selected. If you are, deselect that and it should work. Your best bet would be to only have modloader, btw, hd fonts, and hd textures selected. All the other options have been known to cause weird bugs.

so in mc patcher, i click "add" at the top and add modloader and btw? Is there a specific order to which i need to add them(ima noob at this :/)
Been playing 1.4 today to try out the new stuff. Took me less than 10 mins to get a potato and carrot. Then 5 mins to have a whole field of each in my wheat farm area. So that's done.
Really makes me appreciate the hardcore stuff in BTW, adding challenge while Mojang is busy taking away challenges. I'm hoping that the wither boss's challenge is more than just the rarity of skull drops.

Exactly what Sneezy said. Plus when you add BTW, It should come up with a popup saying "Select folder to add to minecraft.jar". Only select the folder that says MINECRAFT-JAR. FORGE-SRC won't do anything at all if you add it in and MINECRAFT_SERVER-JAR will cause problems if you add it in.

Gods damn it. Looks like that's another vanilla feature I'll have to nerf. This is beginning to get rather annoying.
I think I may spend a bit of time with 1.4 myself this weekend just to come up with a comprehensive list of what I'll need to remove during the port process. The new anvil is definitely going to get some chopping done to it, and I'm definitely doing something about animals in the nether, but it now looks like there may be other items I need to take care of as well.
I'm beginning to look at new releases of MC with dread rather than the anticipation I used to experience.

Thanks man, I appreciate that.
I personally doubt that the wither is going to be anything more than 5 minutes of fun for hours and hours of development time, which is often what happens with boss monsters in any game.
They're notoriously low on the bang for the buck scale when you're making a game, which is why bosses are not something I personally choose to work on with the mod. I'm also expecting the same out of the witch.
Well I was looking around at the BTW Wiki today and I saw that I have missed uploading the last three updates. I was just wondering if it is better (safer) to load the individual updates I missed, or is it alright to just get the latest update.

Ya but when i get to the conflict page,at the bottom, all its says is " Only the files from modloader will be used". And then it asks if i want to patch anyway.. wheres this default for BTW that sneezy was talking about? :{. And also thnx to anyone who's taking the time to try and help me :).

Well, in this case, the wither "used" to be more interesting than your typical boss, because it could also be used in contraptions. For instance, putting it in an obsidian bed, lining the top with glass so he wont see people and blast through it, and then filling it up via pistons with smoothstone or cobble, until he takes suffication damage. this caused him to "blast" the blocks into item form, where you could then create a semi-automatic stone farm or log farm or the like.
Unfortunately, like all things good, mojang nerfed it so even obsidian is blasted by the wither so you can only use bedrock, which doesnt make it terribly practical anymore. <.<. Too bad, i was kinda hoping it could be used as an expensive, somewhat dangerous way to get blocks out of block dispensers so they could be sorted and sent to storage.

So anyone with a BTW Forum account could you please relay this crash report to utakataJ6 (Maker of MediateCraft addon for BTW) on his MediateCraft thread, or if you know what is wrong please tell me how I messed up.

The mods I am using are the newest version of BTW and the newest version of MediateCraft which according to his main post on his thread about it on the BTW Forums it is compatible with it, along with some smaller mods that should have no affect on anything.
Also would you also ask if he uploaded the correct version of MediateCraft to the link, because the bolded part worries me.
i have never given up a world because of a bad spawnpoint and i blatantly refuse to do it now.
I did survive the trip, which had a nice intermezzo of me dying due to a laggy pig (don't ask: i'm clueless myself), but i survived the boredom by reading a magazine while tapping s occasionally. (if you sit backwards in a boat, "S" makes you go forward)
Guy...if you're choosing to play the game with non-standard options, and are winding up in an annoying situation as a result, do you really think it's reasonable to be blaming the mod's features for that?
As others are telling you (perhaps it will be clearer if I say it myself): not going to happen.
This is the way the mod plays, and what I intend to balance for in the future. The ever decreasing levels of challenge and increasing lack of incentive to actually build for practical in-game reasons are currently the primary problems with Minecraft that I am trying to address.

Thanks.
