Win lol... I use the same stuff, cept... It takes me days to do a simple mod (the only one i have made, ever....) Shift Clicking Armor into their proper slots from the inventory (best part, is i can do it even from the anvil or crafting table)
I can't seem to make a soul urn. I create a hopper, place a soul sand filter in it, place an urn in the inventory, and throw 8 ground netherrack through the hopper. The hellfire dust appears each time I throw a ground netherrack through, but the hopper is destroyed, my urn is dropped, and a ghast appears. Any idea what is going on?

How do you model with the calculator? Wouldnt you need maya or something? I dont know about minecraft modding, but for my games i use a 3d modeler program.

The Minecraft models all exist within code, and any 3D model is basically just a set of 3D coordinates. Since the models in MC tend to be rather simple, and I'd rather just write my own code directly then rely on a user-written MC-specific modeler to generate it (like...good luck getting Maya to export MC code), I just work out my own models from the raw numbers.
You're generally just talking about a bunch of rectangular solids. Using Maya (which I have used before on other projects) for something like that would be total overkill. If you have decent 3D math skills, it's sometimes easier to just work it out for yourself, and I've yet to run into a situation with the mod where I found myself longing for a professional modelling package.

<Shudder> 3D math. Does that involve matrices?
The waterwheel has a fairly complicated model (for Minecraft). Did you do that the same way? It seems like it would be difficult.

May the Force be with you. Unless you're a troll, in which case, may the farce be with you.
Not in this case, no. Although most work with 3D graphics does.

It's really not that complicated mathematically, and yes, I did do it that way. It's just eight rectangular solids in an octagonal pattern, and then another eight protruding out as the blades. It's actually the kind of thing that you'd probably need to create mathematically in some fashion anyways in order to look right. Trying to drag and drop it all into place would likely result in something lop-sided and weird looking
Dunno. Guess it's just the way I think, but I tend to visualize all this stuff in my head in terms of math anyways.

i have a idea about a new form of mechanical power
its a horazontal wheel that looks sorta like the water wheel but you need some sort of animal to push the wheel idk what to call it but its a thing to keep in mind if your ever trying to find a new sort of mechanical power.

Btw i love your mod its very technical.
Although I doubt it'd happen, if it did I'd sure hope it would be powered only by wolves and involves you whipping them over and over to keep forcing them around.
As you may know there is a new version of Better than Wolves in the works that will be released sometime in the coming months. It is code-named "April 10". Not much is known about this update other than it will exceed all your wildest expectations etc, but after half-assedly scouring through the last 60 pages of this thread, I've compiled some of the more informative posts concerning this upcoming version of Better than Wolves:
Well, I've got some good news and some bad news. Since I'm not willing to run a poll, and since it's usually my first choice, I'll present the bad news first:
Bad News
-As of today, there will be no new features released for Better Than Wolves. I may put out one more small release to tie up a few loose ends, and will continue to provide bug-fixes and updates for new versions of Minecraft, but the mod will essentially remain in the state it is today.
-I will likely be less available for the foreseeable future to interact with the community.
With that out of the way, let's move on to the good news:
Good News
-I am stepping away from releasing new features because I have something huge planned for the mod that will take the next month for me to implement
You see, one month from today is the 1 year anniversary of the first release of Better Than Wolves. In celebration of this I've decided to finally take the plunge and implement a set of features that I've been planning for a long time now, but which really need to be released together so that they can be properly experienced. I've been hesitant up until this point to invest the time necessary as it would basically mean no new features for an extended period, but I feel that the 1 year anniversary is the perfect time to make this all happen.
So...you guys can expect the next real release to happen on precisely April 10th. I will provide no clues as to what is coming other than the following video link. People are of course welcome to speculate, but you won't get any further info out of me until the release date
Until the tenth then, I leave you with this:
Ah, the initial announcement. There doesn't seem to be much info there, but maybe a clue is hidden.
I don't generally discuss my future plans for the mod as it just gives people one more thing to bug me about. It's much more pleasant as a mod author for people to say "Wow! I was never expecting foo!" rather than have them constantly asking "When is foo going to be in the game?"
However, I have recently announced that there will be a big release for the mod's anniversary on April 10th. The only hint that I've released is that it has something to do with the following:
This video might be a clue. But what could an 80's music video have in common with Minecraft?
-Changed Blood Wood logs to craft into reddish planks (same as jungle trees).
-Changed the Saw to output planks of the appropriate color when cutting logs.
-Removed Mojang's new code for saving and loading the sit state of pets, as it was bugged and caused wolves to stand up when they weren't supposed to on chunk load. I've reverted it back to the way it previously was, in which pets would always be sitting on load to fix this.
-Removed all trace of the juicy stuff I'm working on for the April 10th release, so don't bother looking
Enjoy!
"Don't bother looking"? Your hidden features protected aren't protected solely by opposite psychology, now are they?
Dunno. Guess it's just the way I think, but I tend to visualize all this stuff in my head in terms of math anyways.
I WANT YOUR BRAIN.
I work with 3d modelling software all the time in my field, and if I knew the trick to thinking like that I could probably double my output. Ah well. There's an old joke. What do you call an engineer who's bad at math?
An architect.
Step 1 MCP
Step 2 Paint.net
Step 3 Ecplisple
Step 4 Windows Calulator
Step 5 .....
Step 6 Profit

Oh dear.
I think that right there is a succinct summation of the entire thousand some-odd pages of this thread
Your hopper isn't powered.
Also, you need to place the urn under the hopper.
/facepalm

Better than Wolves will have so much more than this after "April 10" is released.

Great catch! That's how you read between the lines.
