I have a simple question: according to the recipe, one pulley is able to lift a 5X5X5 block of platforms. My structure involves a 5X5X4 block of platforms with the pulley attaching to the anchor placed dead center on top of the block. However, as soon as I lift the block, only the upper three rows are being lifted with the last rows staying on the ground. Similarly, when lowering a 5X5X4 block, it refuses to move anywhere, up nor down.
Any suggestions for how to fix it (e.g. config files) or am I missing a note about blocks of such dimensions/heights?

The anchor can move a 5X5X5 grid of blocks *from the center* of said grid. You can't lift the whole thing from the top like that.
Catching other posters attention is irrelvant, as I'm not swayed by public pressue to do anything. I think I've amply demonstrated that over the past little while :wink.gif:
It doesn't matter how many people think something is a good idea, it all comes down to me being the person you need to convince if you want an idea in the mod.
So really, those kinds of posts can only be directed at me man.
I'm sorry you feel this way, seeing as some of the other users here have very good ideas, and while you have defiantly demonstrated your creative talents, a single person's creative talent can only go so far. It would be wise of you to listen to others, and work with them to expand the creative scope of this mod. I'm sorry that we have conflicting ideas of how new features should be conceived, and implemented, it is, however your mod, and you have complete control over it as you have shown by the way you handled the "YogBox" incident. I will keep my creative comments to myself, and begin helping the other users who seem to be having a lot of trouble getting this mod to work properly. I am about to start working on a video tutorial demonstrating how to properly install this mod, I would appreciate it if you would considering linking to it in the OP once I've finished it. It might help with the droves of comments from people who can't get the mod to work.
Flowerchild - I'm not attacking you or the mod itself. I love your mod. It's just that the copyright thing is ********.
That's your opinion, and your entitled to it. I, however, strongly disagree and you won't convince me otherwise. As such, you are simply spamming/trolling the thread by beating a dead horse.
If this interests you so much, I strongly urge you to take it up with legal counsel. Just stop wasting our time with it, because it is serving no purpose whatsoever.

Notch is unwilling to crap all over the rights of the people who dedicate a lot of time and effort to make mods. Say what you will, but while he's not a saint, Notch isn't a cynical greedy *******. He's gone on record to say he's not going to persecute modders and assumes they have the right to what they write-- as does the forum, which provides and sanctions copyright protection for the work done in mods.
Derivative works are often protected under copyright. Look at how many programs are out there, being sold that modify the behavior of proprietary software. Mojang has blanket endorsed modders in its policy de jure, as has this forum.
Honestly, I'm going to say that at this point, you're just unwilling to admit you could be wrong whatsoever.

First, like the avatar. :smile.gif:
Second, people don't seem to read much of the OPs. :/ But I do agree it might be helpful, what operating systems do you use? I may be able to pitch in and help for other platforms (OS X, Linux)

I've worked in the game-industry a long time man, and experience has taught me that "design by committee" usually produces complete rubish.
A strong creative vision, guided by a single individual, is necessary to produce almost anything of worth. If I became a slave to the ideas of the people that come to this thread, I can guarantee you that this mod would turn into a complete piece of crap within a couple of weeks.
I'm not completely closed to suggestions man, and the credit I give to the individuals who came up with particular ideas in the OP bears testament to that.
I however simply choose not to respond to every idea posted on this thread for the reasons stated. They are heard, you just can't expect a response.

Thanks man, I use ubuntu 11.04 (without Unity) as my main OS, but I can also make a quick windows partition in virtual box and create another tutorial there for the winblows users out there.

Decompilation etc is also currently, totally legal
"where disassembly is the only way to gain access to the ideas and functional elements embodied in a copyrighted computer program and where there is legitimate reason for seeking such access, disassembly is a fair use of the copyrighted work, as a matter of law."
Legitimate reason is for modding, which the company in question has shown they allow.
And deobfustication? thats just playing about with variable and class names, I could decide to call all fu.class funnyname.class instead of Pathfinder.class which it actually deobfusticates too.
What about a setup like this (side view):
-snip-
Would that work, or do I have to change it to:
-snip-
I haven't tried it myself, but I'm 90% sure you'd have to change it to the second version. Lifting a 5x5 grid from the center means that it can only lift 2 in every direction, so the first version has one layer too many towards the top.

I think Unity's fine, though I personally used to run a custom GNOME session anyway. It's the lack of configuration that bugs me, really.
Anywhoo, I can probably show a video in Windows, if one hasn't been made already. One for OS X might be a bigger priority though, given most tutorials are shown for Windows.
(that said, I personally fail to see the use of ascribing "funny" names to Windows or Microsoft, but it's a free internet)
Ok, this is just bloody retarded. WAY too many posts. I just had to spend the last hour reading through everything since I went to bed last night, and that was with me just skimming many of them.
No way I can respond to individuals, so I will try to respond to common themes instead.
----------------------------
My response to Xephos:
As many of you correctly surmised, I had no idea who this guy was when he posted last night. He just came accross as another of the recent flood of Yog-whatevers that have been invading this thread and demanding inclusion of the mod in Yogbox.
Had I known, yes, I would have been more diplomatic. I DID enjoy the Yogscast quite a bit, and I respect the work these guys are doing.
HOWEVER, I still would have said no. I also think that it was rather rude of these guys NOT to talk to me about inclusion in the mod-pack BEFORE releasing the video (and they most certainly did not). The first I ever heard from them was that single post by Xephos (who again, I didn't recognize or know...why on earth would I?) last night, and I have also not heard anything since.
Why I say it was rude, is that they repeatedly mention the potential inclusion of the mod *if they can convince me* in their video, and I think they knew full-well that their fans would interpret that as a call-to-arms to pester me to death to get it included. They may not have directly done it themselves, but yes, I think they were still responsible and easily could have avoided this disaster by simply speaking to me first.
They basically trashed this entire thread through that act, so I'm not particularly pleased with how that whole thing turned out.
But again, I did very much enjoy the video.
----------------
My "ingratitude" at them making the video:
This whole line of arguement is nonsensical. They have attained their popularity (and possibly profit) through making videos, many of them about mods. As a mod author, I have provided them with a mod to make a video about, thus supplying them part of the source of their popularity. Without me, they wouldn't have had anything to talk about for the half-hour of that video.
So, at most, this is a symbiotic relationship. I made the content, they made the video, and both parties have benefited as a result.
Why some people think I owe them anything because of that mutually beneficial relationship is beyond me.
Might i just say that i love the mod and all that drivel, but you're a stubborn ****, least... that's what my mind rationalized from what you said :dry.gif:
One fine day in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back, they faced each other
Drew their knives and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard the noise
And came and killed the two dead boys
What I see most posters in this thread have failed to realize is that Flowerchild honestly has the right to be "a stubbon ****" if he wants to me. I notice many people donning holier-than-thou caps to say "thou shalt obey the majority" or "why wilt thou listen," but he is under no contractual obligation to produce this mod, is certainly at no disadvantage if publishing ceased, and really is entitled to just enjoy the work.
Honestly, publishing this mod at all is a fairly huge service, and it's annoying to see so many people think they have the vantage or position to huff.
Though Flower, one thing I saw: in the Yogsbox promotional video, I remember reading the thread they made regarding what mods they'd add, and I think the interpretation can be softened a bit because they had one or two misfires regarding permissions (basically one mod author was a legitimate ass about it). Doesn't justify them not asking first, but nevertheless it might explain a bit.

If you could make the OSX tutorial, I can cover the linux one. As for "ascribing funny names" it's all in good fun friend, I by no means intend to start a flame war over something as trivial as one's operating system preference. Actually I think every OS ever created has flaws, and there exists no such thing as a perfect OS. I know I deal with plenty of "headaches" in linux on a daily basis. Anyway, I'm about to get started on the linux tutorial.

I prefer to think of myself as a strong-willed individual that isn't willing to spread his cheeks at the demand of the maasses, but whatever floats your boat.
First of all, nice avatar. Also it sounds like you didn't delete the meta-inf folder inside the minecraft.jar.
But post any other mods you're using if you have them.
Thanks :biggrin.gif:
I did in fact delete the meta folder and im not running any other mods this is the first one I have tried....
